I don't see why a console Zelda can't be top down.

I don't see an issue either, but why make a top-down Zelda when the system is capable of much more?

A top-down game can still be amazing, especially with today's technology. Having a top-down game on the 3DS can show the amazing things the system can be capable of.

OoA and OoS's coming to the eShop this summer. Welp...Look's like I'll be buying them both.

Oracle of Ages was my first Zelda game. I still go back and play it every few years. Seasons too. They're just great games.

I played Oracle of Ages, was Seasons much different? I always assumed they were essentially the same game like Pokemon.

Nope, not at all. Two completely different games that just use the same top-down format and character designs. If you link them together, you get one big story.

Wasn't Capcom working on a follow-up that never happened? :(

Not really. The game was originally designed as a 3-parter, with each game focusing on a different element of the Triforce.

At some point along production, it was cut back to two games and they reworked the story.

Is there a preferred order to play them in?

With full sound and music - you can hear the remixed music:

I'm skeptical. But then I really want to see a Zelda with a powerful graphics engine. Sweeping vistas, huge open landscapes, detailed monsters, etc.

Back when they first made Zelda (i.e. the original) they were very limited by the technology. It was either top-down, or side-scrolling.

I see both as fairly limiting. Both visually, and from a gameplay perspective.

In the case of the 3DS though, while I do enjoy the top-down games, it just doesn't compare with the grandness of Ocarina of Time (even though the game is quite old).

Though I freely admit that nostalgia for OoT may be biasing my judgment.

Room for both. We've got the OoT style since...Well..OoT. I see no reason why the hand held Zelda's can't be top down.

Not on the handheld though. Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks, etc. All top-down.

OoT remake doesn't really count. Since it's a remake. But it did make me appreciate how powerful the 3DS is.

No. It works either way. Linking the games (which was done by a password instead of having to have two Gameboys and a link cable) just added some more content to the second game.

What are you guys thinking the pricing for Oracle of Seasons/Ages will be?

I hope so too. I got $7 in my eshop account and I'm hoping it covers at least one of them

Are they redoing any of the graphics? Or is it a straight up port?

That makes me less inclined to buy it. I still have my old cartridges, so I can stick it in my Game Boy anytime I want.

I've never played either game, so I'm really quite interested in giving them a shot. I've heard good things.
