I don't know, I don't think Nintendo has a good track record for responding to any feedback or criticism. They seem to have a way of doing business where they go out of their way to do things differently or their own specific way, which I think often is detrimental to their product. Say what you will about other companies like Microsoft and Sony, but they seem alot more flexible when it comes to developing and expanding on concepts. Nintendo seems very set in their ways, which isn't always bad, but with games like Metroid Other M or New Super Mario Bros, it just feels like they're not interested in pushing things further.

Developing and expanding on concepts could also be viewed as just stealing original ideas. :oldrazz:

It's about time we another Zelda game.Been finishing up Spirit Tracks:)

I'm currently playing that now after having just completed Phantom Hourglass at long last. Damn I had so much trouble fighting the Bellum Knight!!! :(

I wonder when/if Nintendo will announce Majora's Mask on 3DS... or if they'll wait and do an original game.

oh no Ocarina of time will be a launch title I believe for the 3DS

Actually I see it the other way around. People wanted a return to traditional Metroid gameplay after the Metroid Prime series, so Nintendo delivered just that with Metroid: Other M. People want a Donkey Kong game like the Rare games and Nintendo delivers with Donkey Kong Country Returns. And games like Mario Kart Wii and New Super Mario Bros. Wii is Nintendo's response to the very positive response to the DS versions of those games.

I agree with that. I've been a Nintendo fan for probably going on 15 years now, and they never disappoint me. Both in the games themselves, and product quality. I can't wait to see what they'll have at E3 2011, especially after this year's.

And another thing, people have complained about Nintendo failing to deliver AAA titles for the hardcore gamer, and with 2010 since third parties are unable to do so, Nintendo has delivered us Metroid: Other M, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Kirby Epic Yarn, and Super Mario Galaxy 2 all in one year. Next year they're bringing the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and the 3DS.

All i'm going to say are these 2 things... How many years between Zelda games? And how often does the amount of time reflect substantial evolution of the franchise?

It was a one year gap between the first Legend of Zelda and Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, and those games are completely different, but it's effects still remain in the series, even though they dropped the Mario styled gameplay. A four year gap between Zelda II and the A Link to the Past, which is considered a masterpiece. A five year gap between A Link to the Past and the Ocarina of Time, which is also considered a masterpiece and brought the series to 3D. A two year gap between Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. A four year gap between Majora's Mask and The Wind Waker, which delivered a new art style in the series that remains today. A four year gap between the Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. And it is a five year gap between Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword, which is bringing more precise motion controls to the series.

Even the ones that were essentially carbon copies of Ocarina of Time (Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess) brought something unique to the table with the time travel and the animal transformations.

And besides, it's not like Nintendo churns these games out every year like Call of Duty. And all of the games have been pretty damn good to begin with.

You forgot to mention people have complained about every Zelda game since Ocarina of Time.

I don't know, it still seems really gimmicky. I'd like a trailer that was pure story and cut scenes. It's been two trailers so far, both of which have essentially just been "Hey, look what you can do with a wii-mote."

And i'm still not sold on the art style. I like the idea of it, but it just doesn't seem as stylised as Wind Waker, which I loved, so it just seems not that great, graphically. I'll probably still get it because, I mean, it's Zelda, but if this game doesn't do it for me that might be it for me and the franchise.

I think they're trying to sell the gameplay with the game because that is its newest aspect. The game play has been the exact same since Ocarina of Time and now they've finally moved on from that into new territory so they need to show that off and sell that aspect but I do agree something a little story related would have been nice or some big reveal at the end of the trailer would have been great.

But essentially the gameplay looks exactly the same. Apart from deeper motion controls with fighting, so far (as we're yet to hear otherwise) it seems exactly the same format and gameplay, you have selected weapons, lock on fighting system, dungeons with boss fights etc. Sure that's classic Zelda, but Nintendo seem to have a real problem with letting go of the past. It's only a matter of time before something that's 'traditional' becomes something played out and needing a fresh face.

I can't think of a single Zelda trailer, or any Nintendo trailer, that wasn't like this. I'd rather a trailer like this where you actually see the game being played than Skyrim's first one that was just a short scene and voice over or all the Assassin's Creed ones which are completely pre-rendered footage.

Why does it matter? SM64, Sunshine, Galaxy, and Galaxy 2 have all been similar with a few unique features here and there (hats, FLUDD). It's the same for a lot of other games, they don't completely change their core gameplay and there's no reason to if it works and sells. The only one I can think of that did a radical change was RE.

See Spidey, i've tried having objective conversations about this with you before and it's impossible. You seem so loyally devoted to Nintendo that you're not willing to speculate any potential criticisms. Is there any part of you that feels Nintendo isn't performing to it's maximum effort?

Why don't you answer my question? Why is it that Nintendo has to reinvent the wheel with every single Zelda game but it's completely acceptable for other games to stay more or less the same?

I have no problems with Skyward Sword keeping the same gameplay from OoT/MM/WW/TP. I was disappointed when Galaxy 2 was announced because I wanted something more like SM64. I never got into Brawl like I did Melee and I'm still dying for a Star Fox game. There's plenty to criticize Nintendo about, but keeping Zelda's core gameplay just isn't one of those things, IMO.
