What do you have in mind?

Nothing particularly, but I like how Metroid as a franchise has been open to experimenting since it's revival with Prime. Other M, even, despite not being great, tried to do something different with the formula. Not many Nintendo franchises really do that to a significant degree, so I'd to see something other than just a return to Prime. Although, I would be perfectly fine with a Retro developed MP4.

I've always wondered what a Metroid game designed like an old school survival horror game would look like, though.

I may be biased because I bought my Gamecube mostly for Metroid (and of course the promise of Zelda). Certainly seemed like a killer app at the time, though maybe in retrospect, not so much.

I read that Alien was a big inspiration on Metroid. So, that seems fitting. I have been meaning to look into the Alien Xbox One game.

Yeah, I'm not getting the comparison either. Personally, I wouldn't want another first-person Metroid.
its the marines thats the connection there. it's always space marines no seal's (Sea , Air, land ) or other's space marines. when some want to try some thing different it's Space arm or air force or federation or alliance defense force.

It's funny though in other types of si-fi space has been called the stellar sea too. one of them being gene Roddenberrys earth final conflict a few year back. since he's the most famous of the si-fi makers.
Oh and most people I see complain about the marine thing is why are they all bald ? these are people mostly into anything other then military titles ad play alot JRPg's.

it did inspire alot with games . War hammer as the starting point and it went on from there

It actually is Space Federation in Metroid. The rest of what you said I have no idea.

yeah well I didn't notice part of the conversation started from what you said with Halo and Metroid(that one installment ), being too similar with that installment ether . Any way, even if they are overall called a federation they used Marines as their force on the ground in that installment of Metriod which samus met up with often .

that's what is common between Halo & what they did with "other M" Also with other stuff like with war hammer , Mass effect , Red faction, Gears of war. other sci -fi space video games . with only a few that chose to have ether a military that didn't Marines/ like for example "zone of the enders" or mech warrior/battle tech, they had Space armies instead in their place. Or them having a actual law enforcement or civilian investigative or intelligence network in their place, to set them selves apart for a change of pace.

those latter ones are more about doing other stuff similar to exploration to a degree. the just shooting and blowing stuff up, with the exception of mass effect. that one strayed from what others do with space marines all too often there was some Exploration with that game series . Even if it was minor.

Also it was where samus came from/started out befor becoming bounty hunter . As another poster stated with Explosion to some gamers where space marines are involved that's usually always end's up with it being a shooter with explosion's fest. More so the anything like Exploration.

As to the other the stallar sea it's just a common sci -fi term. space ship's= sailing = space navy

The marine look with bald head's that can be found just looking any other site where people talk forum's comments ETC you'll can find any person that doesn't like those types of games claim to be JRPg players also.

Here’s What The Zelda And Other Amiibo Figurines Do In Hyrule Warriors. November 17, 2014 . 8:26am

The Zelda figurine will allow you to avail a weapon rated 3 stars or higher once a day.

Last week, it was revealed that the Sheik, Toon Link and Zelda Amiibo figurines would have special functionality within Hyrule Warriors, similar to the Link figurine, which unlocks the Spinner weapon from Zelda: Twilight Princess. Nintendo of America have now detailed what this functionality is.

The Zelda figurine will allow you to avail a weapon rated 3 stars or higher once a day. Meanwhile, other Amiibo figurines launching alongside Super Smash Bros. will allow you to avail a weapon rated 3 stars or lower once each day.

What about Toon Link? The Japanese website for Hyrule Warriors reveals that he also unlocks the Spinner weapon, just like the regular Link Amiibo. As for Sheik, just what purpose her Amiibo will serve hasn’t been revealed yet.

Hyrule Warriors will receive an update adding Amiibo functionality in late November.

Twili Midna Being Added To Hyrule Warriors In Next DLC Pack. November 17, 2014 . 10:30pm

Midna in her original female form will be added to Hyrule Warriors as a playable character in the game’s upcoming “Twilight Princess Pack” DLC.

Midna in her original female form will be added to Hyrule Warriors as a playable character in the game’s upcoming “Twilight Princess Pack” DLC. Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma revealed the news via Miiverse this evening.

“Twili Midna’s weapon is the Mirror of Twilight, which appeared in Twilight Princess,” Aonuma wrote. “This mirror was destroyed at the end of that game, but it’s pretty amazing in Hyrule Warriors. In fact, I can’t describe in words what’s so amazing about it, so I hope you’ll download this DLC pack and see for yourself.”

In addition to Twili Midna, the DLC pack will include new weapons, character costumes and an adventure map. Aonuma hinted that one of the costumes will let you dress Link up as a certain other character from the Zelda series.

The Twilight Princess Pack DLC will be available for Hyrule Warriors on November 27th worldwide.

The upcoming Zelda game will feature a large open-world. In the video, you’ll see Link high-up on a mountain, before jumping off and gliding down, and proceeding to ride on his horse.
Additionally, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that the new Star Fox game for Wii U will release before The Legend of Zelda next year.

Oh, Nintendo, I can't stay mad at you.

I loved Miyamoto's reaction to "horses don't run into trees very often".

disappointed they didn't give a fullscreen of the game itself during that video, but holy hell is this game shaping up to be awesome, looks freakin gorgeous. And the world looks absolutely huge. My hype level for this game just hit 11.

Yeah I am so so happy right now. I thought we would not see more about this game in till E3. I think it is odd that we still don't have a name for the game. Or are they just going to call it Zelda wii u? With this game star fox and splatoon Nintendo looks to have by far the best games next year.

That footage was absolutely amazeballs. I wished we would have seen some Star Fox footage though. If it's coming out before the new Zelda, lets see some damn footage!

I suspect Nintemdo shall take 2015.

I am really happy with the footage. E3 is going to be amazing.

If they are able to keep everything on schedule, I think they can see improved hardware sales, but overall, I doubt there's a chance they can really win 2015 as a whole in the sales department. I expect it'll be a light coast until the end with occasional spikes: Gamecube, part II.

This may be an odd segue, but does anyone else hope that this will lead to an open world Mario game?

I enjoyed World, and Land, but I really want to see an open world Mario, where Mario can just travel across a really vast, detailed Mushroom Kingdom, with extremely different locations. With multiple forms of transportation (summon Yoshi, or take trains, etc).

Meh, I actually don't care a whole lot for open world Mario. As revolutionary as Mario 64 was, and how awesome it was at the time, it's probably one of my least favorite Mario titles. I've tried to go back to it multiple times, but never can get into it as much as I did when it was originally released. I honestly feel like Galaxies and 3D Land/World are better in their structure.

That being said, I'd still probably buy it, though. Mainline Marios are generally something I buy.

I think it could definitely work, but not at the same scale, it'd need to be a much smaller world than this one filled with obstacles and insane terrain, a return to something that expands on the more open environments from 64 and Sunshine except making them seamlessly connected with some fun environments between them would be great to see.
