In light of the NX announcement this does seem like a bad time to announce this.
Or, maybe, early April 1st joke?

iPad / iPhone, I'm guessing.
I like Zenith though. He's like this forum's one-man Tales blog.
While I don't think if NX is a home console that it will be out in till 2017 but at the same time with the way wii u has been saleing and now losing a big game this year in Zelda wii u who knows. Yeah I don't know if I would get an NX next year if it is a home console has that would only be a 4 year wii u life span in less they really bring something great to the table with NX. Form what I have heard wii TP was basicly the same has the gamecube one when it comes to graphics just the motion control thing so I don't know if there would really be a reason to get Zelda on NX instead of wii u.

I wish, but it's not.
I used to like zenith, then I came to hate him, and finally I came to accept him. It was a cycle.
Well, there wasn't a huge power difference between the GCN and the Wii, and the Wii didn't support HD. So, really, there wasn't a huge amount that could be done outside the controls. Presumably, a new console would be more powerful, at least akin to PS4/Xbone with full HD capabilities and yadda yadda. Of course, with Nintendo, god knows.
But he bottom line of what I was saying is that I wouldn't buy a new console in 2016, so I'd just buy Zelda U on the Wii U. It's in the goddamn name.
I wish it was just a joke. Have there ever been like video game apirl first jokes before april 1st lol
While yeah I hear you about the wii compared to gamecube but even wii u is not that strong compared to ps3 and xbox 360 so you never know if NX is going to even been a big step up in power form wii u and it would be more of a port then a fresh new game on the NX.
That has to be a placeholder name though. I mean, if Nintendo didn't call ALTTP Super Zelda, or OoT Zelda 64 they're not going to call this Zelda Zelda Wii U.
At least, God I hope it's a placeholder name. With Nintendo nowadays you just don't know.
Assuming Nintendo isn't completely deaf, or blind (which I grant you, is a bit of an assumption), they will make the next system significantly more powerful, at least on par with the current systems.
I get the sense that they've radically changed direction with the game. Otherwise, I really don't see why they have so little to show. It's one thing to delay a game, but so far we've learned nothing about the plot, or even the world it's set in. It's all be nondescript fields, and Link fighting generic enemies. We don't even have a proper name.
Everything so far has been reminiscent of tech demos.
The PS4 and Xbox One won't be on their way out in 2017 though. I doubt we'll see any new consoles from either Sony or Microsoft prior to 2020.
Ideally Nintendo's next console should be significantly more powerful, but them making it on par with the other two isn't bad necessarily. They would be able to get multiplats, and create games on par with their two direct competitors. It would also be relatively inexpensive.
The Wii U suffered from bad timing.
Well, the plot and setting will be the same as virtually every Zelda ever, so we already know that. But honestly, it's not totally unheard of for them to show little of a Zelda game. We actually saw very little, for instance, of Skyward Sword before it was released. Same for TP, really. It was announced to be a thing without any actual footage, and then we went for a long stretch where we saw or heard virtually nothing.
TP was announced in 2003, I believe, and I'm pretty sure we didn't actually see or hear anything until at least 2004. Obviously, it's been quite awhile, so my memory may be fuzzy, but the more I think about, the less I remember ever seeing or hearing much of anything, period, about Twilight Princess until it got delayed and then ported to the Wii. Skyward Sword was talked about in 2008, officially unveiled in 2009, and I don't think we got any actual footage until 2011 (the same year it was released).
Wow, actually, the more I think about it, the more I realize they really don't show very much of Zelda games. Unless I'm misremembering some of the above, which is possible. All of that's been a day or two.
If you're thinking of what I think you are, that's probably the tech demo they showed at Spaceworld 2001.
That will be fun.2016 is the 30th anniversary of Zelda, so I expect a lot of Zelda stuff.

Zelda Wii U
Hyrule Warriors 2
Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess on the e shop
Maybe a Zelda collection
