Hyrule Warriors Is Getting A Ton Of DLC; Epona Coming October 16th. September 26, 2014 . 4:18am

Hyrule Warriors is getting a bunch of upcoming DLC, both free and paid. Here are some of the details.

Hyrule Warriors is available in North America today, and to commemorate its release, Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma has revealed that Link’s horse, Epona, will be made available as a downloadable weapon for him to use.

Epona will be released as part of the game’s first paid DLC pack, which will be available on October 16th. Titled the “Master Quest Pack,” it will also feature other new additions to the game, such as a new scenario and costumes. Nintendo have not yet announced a price for the pack yet.

“I already had a chance to try out Epona in the game,” Aonuma wrote on Miiverse. “By riding Epona, I was able to blow herds of enemies away and gallop swiftly through the fields, and I had a lot of fun trying out this re-imagined version of her in Hyrule Warriors.”

“In the Zelda series, players never had a chance to tackle bosses by galloping around them with Epona like in Hyrule Warriors, so I hope fans will enjoy playing as Zelda characters in a game with a different type of action than you typically find in the original series.”

Here’s a breakdown of the upcoming paid DLC packs for Hyrule Warriors:

Master Quest Pack: (October 16th)

  • New weapon (Epona)
  • New scenario
  • Adventure Mode map
  • New costumes

Twilight Princess Pack: (November)

  • New playable character
  • New weapons
  • Adventure Mode map
  • New costumes

Majora’s Mask Pack: (January)

  • New playable characters
  • New weapons
  • Adventure Mode map
  • New costumes

Boss Pack: (February)

  • New game modes
Pre-purchasing all four DLC packs together in the form of a Season Pass will get you a Dark Link costume as a bonus item that you can begin using right away. The Season Pass costs $14.99 / €14.99 / £13.49.

In addition to the aforementioned paid DLC packs, Hyrule Warriors is also getting more free DLC. Cia, Volga and Wizzro, the game’s villains, will be made playable via a free downloadable update in the near future.

We’ll have more details on subsequent DLC packs as they are made available.

So, it seems the Ganondorf pack has been renamed to Boss pack. I'm guessing the new modes will probably some type of Boss rush modes or something then.

if you saw what was originally here, I'm sorry.

Anyway, anyone get Hyrule Warriors today?

Huh? What'd you post originally BlackWolf? You gotta spill the beans.

I didn't pick it up today. Somewhat debating on waiting to Black Friday and maybe getting a deal for it.

I had like four forums up at once, and I accidentally wrote something for a TV forum here instead (still don't know how that happened), so I erased it and asked the question above.

That's not a bad move I guess. It's never a bad idea to try and save money on a game.

Bought it today. I really, really like it. It's of course repetitive as a DW game, but I love the Zelda universe within it. I'm having a great time mashing dem buttons.

I know right? And once the characters all came in I had a blast playing as them and figuring out whose moves I loved the best!

Right now my personal favorites are Sheik and Zelda, I totally wasn't expecting that. Ganon is fun too! I still have yet to unlock Ruto or Agitha, so maybe I'll like them as well!

Game is also a lot bigger than I thought it'd be. I'm still playing through the main story mode. Haven't touched any of the other modes yet.

In addition to the new Master Quest Map in Adventure Mode, there will be special “Master Quest Rules” that won’t let you recover health or use items. As a reward, players can acquire high rank weapons for Cia, Volga, and Wizzro among other new weapons and more.

The above is a look at the two “Guardian of Time” costumes that will be available in a set of two for Lana and Cia.

I ended getting this anyway, since I'm too weak-willed enough, apparently, to wait for Black Friday.

So, how exactly does Adventure Mode work? I don't really understand if every square has a secret to find or not. And when you do find a secret, does it just unlock something in that mission when you play it? It's not very clear to me.

Each square has a mission for you to complete. Some have hidden items, some don't, you have to pay attention to what the rewards for the mission are to guess what needs finding.

If you correct unlock the item, the rewards for that square will be given to you if you complete the level.

Ah, I see. So whatever reward you get for a square, that one has an extra thing, and that reward is used in said square. This makes sense, I think. But only those squares have secrets?

Yes and no. It honestly is a little complicated to explain, but if you go off that line of thinking you shouldn't be led too far astray. I'm still doing adventure mode myself, trying to get Ruto and Agitha, so I don't have all the answers...yet...

Does Nintendo do Black Friday sales?

Hm, well, okay...I guess lol. I'm figure it maybe, or look for a guide out there somewhere. I'm enjoying it, though. The gameplay definitely has that repetitive nature of a Warriors game, but I don't know, maybe it's because I haven't played one in so long, it doesn't bother me.

Man, between Smash and Evil Within, I haven't got to play this a whole lot. I'll probably still pick up the season pass, just to get the DDP before the promotion ends. I was really surprised with how much fun I ended up having with it.

Here's what it looks like for those interested
