Breath of the Wild Director Says The Open-World Design Could Become The Standard For Zelda . June 2, 2017 . 9:30am

In a recent interview, director Fujibayashi noted that there are still “lots of things” they want to explore with the current game design used in Breath of the Wild.

43 comments Read >

The release of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild brought a grand and vast open-world to the Legend of Zelda series, something not employed in any of its previous titles. The response to this type of design was, for the most part, very positive.

Now, in a recent interview with Gamerant, Breath of the Wild’s director, Hidemaro Fujibayashi spoke about how the ideas from the game will influence future installments in the series.

When asked specifically if the open-world design would become the “standard” in the Zelda series going forward, Fujibayashi replied with the following:
“We can’t really say much at the moment but there are lots of things in this current game design we still want to explore. If, as a result of that exploration, we feel positive we can provide our audience with new experiences it’s possible this design could become the standard.”

Breath of the Wild only just released a few months ago, so it will still be quite some time before we’ll be able to see if the same game design will be used in the next Zelda game.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is available on Wii U and Nintendo Switch.

ooh!! I hope we can play as Zelda and the other characters in DLC.

Okay, in hard mode, there is a silver Bokoblin in the Great Plateau. That regnerates health.

Yeah, that will be tough.

This game is soooooo beautiful!! :waa:

definitely worth the wait!! :woot:

oh, and I'm very glad there's an option to switch to the Japanese voices instead.

Even though I do love a hot British accent, I think Zelda's Japanese voice is prettier. Felt that way since the release date reveal trailer. :ilv:

Nintendo is taking care of fans before Breath of the Wild's first DLC drops.

The Master Trials DLC for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is almost here, and that means it’s time to start preparing for your toughest run through Hyrule yet. Thankfully, though, there’s one thing you don’t need to worry about: your save file.
The new DLC will use a separate set of save data slots from those used in regular gameplay, Nintendo has revealed. This means that you won’t accidentally overwrite anything from your old save.
You’ll still want to be careful, though. While the Normal Mode version of the game uses six save data slots, the Master Mode will use only two, making it harder to jump to a past save if you mess something up.
The Master Trials DLC makes the game harder, but it also adds in the new Trial of the Sword, Heroes Path Mode, the Travel Medallion, and several new sets of armor.
The Master Trials releases on June 30th.

So, I am seeing some reports about Master Mode.

Nintendo is evil.

What about it?

I just bought the DLC, but I'll try out the Trial of the Sword. I'm not interested in playing the Master Mode until pack 2 comes out, and I can restart a new game.

it's mentioned in the run down video above him. they said it's in how you be unarmed and not wearing the costume you last had on in the dlc at the start and the difficulty has be ratcheted up to a higher level. There are new costume armor's and gear though, after you get past it the first new differcult enemies if you can .

There is now a Lynel on the Great Plateau.

and sith's not the only saying that. like I also said with out certain armor or the weapon you have take on this .

Players looking for a harder version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildcan now take on the Master Mode found within the first set of DLC. Of course, Nintendo answered the call for the upped difficulty with possibly more than fans were expecting, which is made painfully clear with a White Lynel fight in the starting area.

In Master Mode, players will start a brand new journey on a difficulty level meant only for seasoned players, and nothing could be more telling of a player’s worth than a Lynel fight. In a video, seen below, Link can be seen freshly awoken from his slumber, ready to enjoy the beginning stages of the Great Plateau, but instead, he is forced to run and hide as a White Lynel stalks the entire starting area. Sadly, at this stage Link only has a tree branch to defend himself with, which gives the Lynel an easy win. To make matters worse, even if the player was able to knock some health away, in Master Mode enemies will regain health if you stop attacking for a length of time.
[YT]TJTg9j6nISs[/YT]

In the standard run of the game, Link has to tango with the epic rider during a quest to collect electric arrows, as well as through random encounters across the open world of Hyrule. Even when fitted with the best armor and weapons, taking on a Lynel is no easy task, so Nintendo really threw down the gauntlet with this first enemy. For those looking for a new challenge but are apprehensive to deal with that much drama from go, the Trial of the Sword challenge will provide a difficult but manageable quest, which a streamer has already completed.

Nintendo of Europe tweeted a video teasing the next DLC, which you can see below. But recently, Eiji Aonuma, the game's producer, talked at a Zelda Masterclass at the Japan Expo in Paris, France. He states that the DLC will have more narrative details and even though we still play as Link, we will learn a lot more about Zelda's character.

There has been two Legend of Zelda books so far. One, the Hyrule Historia, focuses on the history of the series, while the other focuses on art. Being that Breath of the Wild is so large, the new book will focus primarily on the artwork from the single game alone.
Nintendo has said the Champion's Ballad DLC will add "new challenges that will let players enjoy a new dungeon and a new original story." It will launch Holiday 2017. The DLC comes in three parts, one of which is already released, and the entire pack is on sale for $20 on the Nintendo Switch eShop.

I have been playing this game for the past month and I just have to share my love for it. It is the best open world game and the best rpg I've ever played.

If I had to guess, I've finished roughtly 50-75% of the main story, but there are so many sidequests that I haven't even looked at.

The beauty of this game is the extreme sense of freedom you feel while playing. You literary can go anywhere. There are no borders and no walls you can't climb. So often, I've just pinned a place I could see on the map and made it a challenge for myself to go there and on my journey find others things I wanted to explore. I absolutely love the shrines. I didn't think I would like puzzles, but I absolutely do.

And I also deeply admire the way they managed to have the NPCs undergo real meaningful character development in such short time that they have.

Just... wow.

I have beat the game weeks ago, and I just play to find shrines, and it just now I found the Hestu character that increases your inventory with all those Korok seeds. Never knew what Korok seeds are used for :fst:

lol, seriously? How did you beat the game and not know about that? :funny:

It must've been so annoying having only a few slots for weapons and shields. I can't believe you guys beat the game without knowing you can upgrade your inventory slots. :hehe:

yes, for real. I guess I took a different route to Kakoriko village in the beginning of the game and never came across Hestu. So what i have been doing was drop and keeping high power weapons, avoiding weaker inventory. So yes it was annoying...... :(
