You and Themanofbat both dropped him within days, wondering why he was available.

I was looking for a line-up shake up, and he was on my chopping block.

I've got some really good players as well as good goalies, but I can't figure out why I'm currently in 7th place... :o

Better than being in last place like I was a month ago. :yay:

Boston's Marc Savard was selected to the All-Star Game to replace Heatley.
How does he get picked over Jeff Carter or Malkin?

Because you sucked for the first half?

Ty Conklin, who would have ever thought would be saving your team.

4 teams fighting for the last fantasy playoff spot, should be good.

6 teams in?

Peter Forsberg-C-Predators Jan. 15 - 2:35 pm et

Peter Forsberg may lace up the skates for Sweden at the LG tournament in February.

Forsberg intends to begin skating next week and will see how his surgically repaired foot holds up. If it goes well, playing competitive hockey in this tournament could be a stepping stone to returning to the NHL. With his injury history, however, it is a long-shot he'll return to NHL.

Jason Blake-W-Maple Leafs Jan. 15 - 12:37 pm et

Jason Blake's name has now been thrown into the mix of numerous trade rumors swirling around the Leafs at the moment.

It seems that every single Maple Leaf has now been part of the media frenzy that is circling the team like vultures at the moment. However, with only eight goals this season, Blake will not be moving anywhere. It is also hard to imagine Blake, or any other player, breaking out of their slump in the midst of this intense pressure.

Yes. Six teams advance, top two get a bye, consolation bracket for non-playoff teams. You can look at the playoffs tab on the main page for the league.

Im currently 8....but climbing:liz:

So I was at the United Center a few days ago for a open skating promotion and got to meet Troy Murray (ex-Hawk, now broadcaster). It was the greatest birthday gift I ever received or will ever receive. I felt like a young Jeremy Roenick skating up the ice. Later that night, in the darkness of the my room with my Bobby Hull jersey hanging on my way, I drifted gradually off to sleep, hitting the ice as a Blackhawk and pulling off spectacular slap shot goals from the red line.

Funny you mention this, being able to skate on the ice where so many great players have skated. I realize the United Center is hardly old Chicago Arena, but it still must have felt incredible.

Leading me to my next point:
Comcast intends to have the historical Spectrum blown up and replaced with a hotel entertainment complex!

This is just terrible! Like i said, history, all the great players who've skated there, lost :(

It does suck, but I heard there building a structure similar to The Power Plant in Baltimore, which was awesome when I meant there last year.

Maple Leaf Gardens is still standing but has been looted and left to rot until they start construction on a parking lot and Superstore (Canada's version of Target).

Montreal Forum is an entertainment centre but has integrated the history of the Canadiens into it.

Buffalo's Memorial Auditorium is scheduled for demolition.

And eventually something will happen to Edmonton's Rexall Place, it probably has the most NHL history out of the existing arenas.
Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum will be redeveloped, a new MSG will eventually be built, Detroit won't remain in Joe Louis forever and Pittsburgh will have a new building soon.

Yeah whatever they are building is modeled after some kind of building in Baltimore. It's going to be built on stilts so that parking spaces are not lost, and will probably pump a hell of a lot more money into the sports plex and city economy so it's probably a good idea.

But then again you leave people priced out of Hockey. I mean i know a lot of people that attend Phantoms games because the tickets are like 10-15 bucks rather than the 80 for Flyers games. The Phantoms are going to end up playing god knows where, and thus people who cant afford to see big league hockey live are pretty much screwed. And the Phantoms are a fairly successful and popular team here, for AHL and all.

Jesus, what the hell is wrong with Detroit.

I'm sickened.

Pittsburgh scares me right now. They are playing great hocky right now.

Comcast must have a plan in place. 41 extra dates plus exhibition/playoff games for Wachovia plus Soul and KiXX home games means the place will be having about 60 extra days in the year. They can have an afternoon Phantoms game then have a evening Flyers or 76ers or Wings game.

They probably would only raise the prices a little bit, stay in line with other AHL franchises.

Jackets beat Canucks, win there third in a row, very nice win.

Thrashers beat Red Wings!!!!!!!! :woot:
Blog: Hossa could be in play at deadline
Bob McKenzie
1/16/2008

Marian Hossa is going to market.

That is the message the Atlanta Thrasher forward has delivered in no uncertain terms to general manager Don Waddell.

Sources say that Hossa, his agent Ritch Winter and Waddell met earlier this week in Atlanta over dinner and then went to an Atlanta Hawks' basketball game and that over the course of the evening Hossa told Waddell that he's not prepared to sign a long-term extension with the Thrashers at this point and will go to unrestricted free agency on July 1.

Sources say Hossa is telling friends that he expects to be traded before the NHL trade deadline on Feb. 26.

If the Thrashers trade Hossa, he could conceivably be the highest-impact rental player made available. Hossa scored a hat trick to lead the Thrashers to victory over the Detroit Red Wings last night.

But the Thrashers are in a tough spot. They currently hold down first place in the Southeast Division and would dearly love to secure a playoff spot, an effort that would be greatly aided by Hossa's offensive production in their lineup. But the Thrashers also know that to allow Hossa to stroll into unrestricted free agency without getting something in return is counter-productive to the long-term interests of the franchise.

Sources say Waddell is not ready to make an absolute commitment to trading Hossa at this point, but there's no question the talented Slovak winger is going to be in play between now and the deadline. What will likely dictate whether Hossa is traded is the return on the trade. If Waddell can get a significant package in return, Hossa is likely to be dealt to a contending team.

The latest negotiations between Waddell and Hossa's new agent, Winter, never even got to the stages of discussing dollars or term. Hossa's primary concern is the status of the Thrashers as a legitimate Cup contender. Quite simply, he's not prepared to commit there long term and wants to see where the club is come July 1.

The Thrashers had previously offered Hossa a five-year, $35 million contract when Hossa was represented by another agent.

The bottom line is that Hossa is almost certainly going to be an unrestricted free agent this summer and that will significantly increase the likelihood of him being traded before the deadline.

Hossa will probably dealt on trade deadline day so he can help the Thrashers as long as possible before he is shipped off. After getting ripped off for the Keith Tkachuk trade they need to reload on younger talent/draft picks.
Now which team will make the deal?

Red Wings need to fix something, make a trade, I don't know.

Well it's still upsetting to lose 3 in a row.

We're like the Yankees of hockey :o
