I want this issue, ill have to wait till tomorrow morning, at last, after 2 months of wait

I was shocked at the two revelations in this issue. I can't wait to see how these are explained.

Nooooooooo.....

Sooooo Hard to not read the spoilers...
Lol, i know i was the one who asked not to be spoiled.... but i sooooo need to be spoiled... gonna try and hold and and somehow get the comic earlier than Sunday.....

Just 1 question for those who know about Perfection - do you think it is good... or is it a silly/stupid/forgettable character under the hood!? Or will people truly be shocked when they find out who it is!?

I have been waiting to find out who Perfection is for MONTHS now... i really cant wait!!! And to make things worse I'm not gonna be able to pick up the comnic till Saturday or Sunday at the earliest!!!

As for who destroys The Breakworld, I dont care much for that, it;s Perfection that i'm interested in! lol

Some great lines this month as well

Kitty " Who's the kid"
Emma "Nagasonic Teenage Warhead"
Kitty "Wow, We really have run out of names"

Logan "and there was a bald lady who was very nice though one suspects she ought wear a wig, for propriety's sake..... and i met an Oriental."

Logan "I shan't prize my life above my Honor. Unless you think that's a good idea."

I don't know how I feel about issue 16, I wouldn't dare think of dropping the series but... the more I think about all the issues (during the bi-monthly waits) the more the scales fall from my eyes, the less the deft-ness of Whedon's delivery matters and the less... well-- I can't say anything clever here about Cassaday's art, it's consistently amazing, every read, every time. But the scales are falling from my eyes and I didn't expect them to fall so quickly this issue. I was so happy when I got it but not even that could keep me from being confused at the fight between Kitty and Emma, which I personally don't understand, and considering that's part of Perfection's overall plot, I think it's worse that the fight makes no sense, because that's probably going to be a very important plot device. Speaking of whihc, Perfection makes little sense. Someone may disagree with me saying "it's supposed to be shocking, it's not supposed to make much sense right away" but the series itself has been very sober until now and the revelation doesn't in anyway fit the pacing or the tone of the series. If this were Ultimates 2 I it would work (well, actually, it's still a stretch, he'll be hard pressed to explain it) because Ultimates 2, amazing as it is, and as political savvy-- if liberally so-- as it is, is very in your face, and a large part of its charm is that it constantly throws things at the reader, the least of which being the kitchen sink. That's not Astonishing X-men, and that's happening now and now I'm feeling like Kitty at the end: "yeahbuhwhat?" And I don't want to feel like that. This wasn't a bad issue, but I'm confused, unnecessarily so I think. On the plus side, I'm really liking Agent Brand and I hope we see her in more series, and the intro to the Kitty/Emma fight, not the actual fight, made me smile.
Oh I ranted so long I forgot to mention that Danger coming back makes no sense unless you look at it is Joss trying "salvage" the second ark, which wasn't that bad, and appears to be extracting somewhat of a cost on this one. Well, let me mention it-- Danger coming back makes little to no sense! Although, I must confess, I'll be there next month. Can't wait for "Unstoppable."

So I hear perfection is the evil twin 'Emma' the White Queen. lol. confusing and I hear kitty...is different... again.
WTF!?!

Sorry...

I really don't see what's so confusing about it. I mean, it's not who I thought it was going to be but considering her name is "Perfection" it makes perfect sense
the White Queen being perfect because she only acted out of her own self-interest and never would have gotten so upset over the death of students or actually fallen in love with Cyclops, etc.

I'm really quite confused by what's so confusing about this issue to you (ha, I made a funny!).

And Darkness, please put that in spoiler tags. Some people don't want it ruined for them.

I knew it!!It would have probably had more 'umph' if the series was monthly though.

What the hell is going on? What's in the "manger"? is it Quentin? Is that Sophie? Anybody wanna take a guess? I'm surprised Colossus is the "destroyer" unless his secondary mutation kicked in and he has a power we haven't seen.

like image tages put with the word spoiler instead of img.
[/ spoiler] delete the space between / and spoiler

Couldn't agree more...This book is slowly deteriorating in front of my eyes...this issue was like...Ok...now what...I still like it but it is become a very quick read..nothing was shocking at all...it seemed too obvious and unexplained...and just needs more explanation..but we still have more issue to come..so I won't rule this book out..
Clossus is the Destroyer of the breakworld was different and unexpected but my reaction was like Meh..why is kitty able to see both Emma Frost is still left unresolved and she is immune to physhe attacks so I don't know.....
Just glad I don't have to wait longer anymore

Another good issue, although, probably because of the two month wait for each issue, there's a sort of sense of disappointment. If this was a monthly, it wouldn't be a problem, but, with such a huge wait time, I get the sense that I should be waiting for something bigger. Compare this with Uncanny or New, both of which, while lacking some of Astonishing's flawless art and snappy dialogue, compensate with much more forward plotting and a more apparent sense that something big is really happening.

Well, I think Whedon managed to come up with an identity for Perfection that no one on the internet had guessed.

So the Hellfire Club is after some gadget of Xavier's, referred to only as a "manger", and so heavily protected that not even Xavier's own people can access it.
And we now know our Breakworld-destroyer: Colossus, ironically, the mutant that Ord resurrected for the purpose of defeating the Breakworld-destroyer. Since Colossus' power levels do not suggest that level of ability, it's either not a direct result of his power (ie, some action he takes), or else he's about to get a major upgrade.

Trivial sidenote: I was reading this at the call centre where I work, and one of the guys working beside me thought that the cover said The Admonishing X-Men, which just gets more hilarious each time I look at it ("Don't do that, or we'll reproach you!").

I'm probably as die-hard a Whedon fan as I am an X-Men fan and am comfortable with the assumption that Whedon's AXM will read MUCH MUCH better in trade format, even though im still picking up the disasterously slow-scheduled monthly issues.

My thoughts on the reveals/twists: Well, the reveal of Perfection was not wholly surprising for me, ive read similar theories on this board and several people here did have Perfections identity spot-on, although they later second guessed themselves. I suppose this is the danger of a bi-monthly book, you give your audience much more time to mull over every possibility then you do in a weekly television series.
The Breakworld Destroyer, well, again I was expecting some-one a little less ... predictable, in hindsight it seems completely logical that it would be this person, then again, it might have seemed that way if it was some of the other X-Men as well.
I am interested to know what Whedon has planned for the background characters
Blindfold, the asian girl whose name escapes me currently
. And I also wonder if some of the things we saw at the end of the Danger arc will make an appearance in Unstoppable...

The most interesting development is that of the Manger, as the specifics of the Breakworld's destruction, Hellfire Club's ressurection, and Danger and Ord's alliance are not the hooks to me that im sure they were intended to be. However, i'm still very much interested in the characterizations -- that is the books selling point for me: Cyclops, Emma, Kitty, Beast and Collosus and Wolverine to a lesser extent.
Whedon could simply rehash bad Claremont plots (instead of good ones, lol!) and the characterization would still be strong enough for me to devote time, money, patience and thought to this series.

this issue was ok, wasnt really worth the 2 month wait. it went really fast, it felt like a filler issue. i will say though, kitty vs emma was AWESOME!
