Blade Official Blade General Discussion and Speculation Thread!

Idk. There's been 3 Blade movies in my, opinion weren't great and could serve as a template of what to do and what not to do for a new Blade movie. There are hundreds of Blade comics for inspiration and they don't have to create characters/stories from scratch. Marvel Studios have released 30+ movies, some of those have a huge roster of characters. Blade is hardly a difficult and mind boggling concept that they would struggle to produce it after 5 long years. I still think the movie just got lost in the mix as Marvel Studios have plenty of other projects they are/were working on, in different platforms (film/streaming) and mediums (live action/animated).

This long-gestating and seemingly cancelled Blade reboot with Mahershala always felt too forced, like it was the actor hoping for a big MCU role and the studio trying to accommodate him. The ongoing problems with getting a satisfactory screenplay indicate how forced it all was. Marvel and Mahershala need to give it up and move on.

I'd save this for the early 2030s. Get the sequels out of the way first and launch the X-Men first.

I still want a proper Blade film in the MCU. Which unfortunately isn't happening with Daredevil, Moon Knight, She-Hulk and Hawkeye as they've been relegated as Disney+ originals.

I'll believe it when I see it. They've delayed this movie so many times already.

I'd rather see them focus on the X-Men.

Idk. I feel like they've sidelined this project so many times, and never took it off their development state. Which makes me wonder if there would be a real change this time, for this to finally happen. Then when it finally happens, I wonder if its going to be a passion project for the studio or something that needs to be cleared off from their list because its been announced way back in 2019.

What this movie needs is a reset and an actual time off.

I don’t want it if it doesn’t have Snipes as Blade. The character in the comics isn’t even that interesting. The best version of the character we ever got and the reason why anyone cares about Blade to this day is those first two Blade movies.

They are not hiring Wesley Snipes to be the lead in this movie.

This movie has mimicked modern AAA video game development. Big announcement, followed by years of nothing and behind the scenes development issues with iterations that were scrapped, with time and money wasted.

At this point, it should just be called Blade: Forever with how long it's taken!

Nor should they. None of these comic characters should be limited to being played by one particular actor forever.

Now all they need now is a finished script and they'll be in business. :o
That is easier said and done. Kraven the Hunter and Brave New World were done in filming and it took more than a year for them to get released in theaters. :o

Seriously talking though, they should save this to Phase7en or phaseight. The X-Men, Blade and Ghost Rider should imo, get a reboot film in the next saga.

It is The Multiverse Saga's counterpart of The Infinity Saga's Inhumans and 20th Century Fox's Gambit. Some things are just never meant to be.

Luckily, the Inhumans (Black Bolt), Blade and Gambit are already represented in the MCU movies through the multiverse.

Oh well, at least Blade gets introduced full time on the mcu through a billion dollar grossing movie.

If I had it my way
2024 - Deadpool & Wolverine (July), Blade (October)
2025 - Fantastic 4 (May), Shang-Chi 2 (August)

Imo, Marvel Studios really should have focused on those, rather spending more time developing and making Brave New World and Thunderbolts*.

It is what it is. Maybe in 2030, when the reception for Marvel Studios movies is much better compare to phase 4 and 5, they could finally do a full Blade reboot movie.
