so, maybe we need a cap lounge to get all this silliness out :oldrazz:

On a more serious note related to the chest hair, perhaps they shaved his chest or waxed it to make it look more like someone that was about to under go an operation. I had colon cancer when I was 29 and they shaved the areas around my chest and abdomen where the operation occured to avoid infections and keep things sterile. Now I realize Chris Evans is not being sliced open, but perhaps they feel that undergoing this treatment is not unlike a surgery and therefore feel people will expect to see him free of hair to make it seem more realistic. Just a thought.

1. You're a cancer survivor and that's amazing. ;)
2. I don't think it's that technical. It's just a different esthetic standard from say Fox. :) Fox doesn't care either way, while Marvel Studios likes their heroes clean shaven. It's no big deal.

Thank you, and I have been clear of cancer for 10 years, so I am doing good and feeling well. However, I didn't bring it up to talk about me, I was only trying to point out that they might be trying to equate the process he goes through to being similar to that of surgery. But then again maybe not. You may be right about Fox and Marvel esthetic approach for all I know, but I have trouble thinking Marvel would have shaved the hair from say Wolverine if they had the rights back for him, as he is a hairy character in most depictions. I guess if Marvel ever manages to get the rights back to these lost characters then we will know for sure, but until then it is anyones guess.:yay:

Sorry to butt in I know I don't know you but can I just say Surfer that I'm really glad you came through your battle with cancer and are doing well. I lost my Dad to cancer back in 2004 and it took him very quickly, it makes me happy when I hear of people coming through it. I donate £8 a month to Cancer Research cause I know what it does to people and I want to help in anyway I can to combat it. All the best mate and glad to know your all clear

Hey, if we just got a flood of pics and the only thing people can find to complain about (in a joking matter, no less!) is a lack of chest hair, then that's a VERY ****ing good sign.

Niiiiiiice!!

I finally noticed Peggy Carter in the first pic with Steve smiling. Nice added detail. And in the shield pic, is that guy wearing the purple beret supposed to be one of the Howling Commandos?

maybe! it'd be easier to tell if he had an umbrella with him. he's got the stache though

Looks like JJ Feild, so it could be Falsworth (British parachute regiment wore maroon berets).

The shnozz at the edge of the shirtless Cap pic is Tucci's.

in that pic of Evans in dress uniform, it looks like him and Hans Landa have the same hair stylist lol.

Anyone know what accomplishments and rank the medals and ribbons on Cap mean?

Was just about to post the same thing but you beat me to it. :awesome:

Looks like this answers the question of whether Field wears a costume or not - I'm betting that 'Union Jack' is just a nickname or codename and he wears regular military gear in the movie.

Thinking about it, I dont see how that should really come as much of a surpise. I mean, why water down to initial iniqueness of Cap by having another costumed hero out there with him?

I'm still checking....so if someone comes up with something more substantial I'll defer to them.

He has the Paratroopers badge

The purple with small white bands on the ends looks like the LEGION OF MERIT [The decoration is awarded to individuals who have distinguished themselves by exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services.]

The gold one with two lines on each end looks like the AMERICAN DEFENSE medal [although given primary for war service, it also was given in recognition of pre America joining the war service]

The blue bar with the rifle in it and the wreath around it is THE COMBAT INFANTRY BADGE and was awarded to those officers and enlisted men whose conduct in combat was exemplary.

The purple ribbon actually looks like the Purple Heart. It could be the Legion of merit as you stated.
I found this regarding the award: ******* d. During the early period of World War II (7 Dec 41 to 22 Sep 43), the Purple Heart was awarded both for wounds received in action against the enemy and for meritorious performance of duty. With the establishment of the Legion of Merit, by an Act of Congress, the practice of awarding the Purple Heart for meritorious service was discontinued. By Executive Order 9277, dated 3 December 1942, the decoration was extended to be applicable to all services and the order required that regulations of the Services be uniform in application as far as practicable. This executive order also authorized award only for wounds received.

Thank you for your kind words and so very sorry about your father. I don't really want to get this thread off subject too much, but I just wanted to say this. If you feel your father got his cancer as a result of natural causes (meaning he didn't smoke or work around materials that could be related to cancer) then you should definitely have yourself checked routinely for it, as it can be herititary. After they found I had colon cancer, my parents and brother went in for tests and they found that all 3 of them had precancerous polyps. So, I always like to think that my battle with cancer may have saved their lives down the road and that what I went through was not in vain. Now like me all three of them get checked routinely. Now back to Cap.
