I actually always liked him better brunette. Never liked the Blonde, it was silly to me.

I agree - blonde was bad. While it may have served the story, the fans never needed Ben to be blonde - he was such a distinct character even looking identical to Peter.

I think the fight between the two Parker's may be a dream sequence in that panel.

I wasn't even going to get this annual but now...

The reason I think it's Ben vs what he perceives to be a Parker Clone is that the guy's in a trenchcoat that looks a little large for him, as if he was naked and just threw some random clothes on he got his hands on.

Jeez, it's almost 2am and I can't sleep! So excited! And I have to wait till July! Argh!

So I come home, go for my regular visit on this board, always hoping for the best and expecting the worst.
And then this: Ben will be back.

BEST. DAY. EVER.

Whatever the storie is, I don't care right now. Oh happy day, I truly fealt heartwarming joy when I read this and I got so excited.
WOHOOO!

Maybe the "WHO is Ben Reilly?" is referring to the fact that Ben is an amnesiac, due to Peter's mind-wipe. He doesn't remember he's Spider-Man's clone, let alone his origins. He's a drifter.

That'd be an interesting story. Maybe if during the arc, we see Peter doing his detective thing and trying to find out just who this Ben Reilly character is, and then it's revealed that he is Ben Reilly is, and the real Parker has had nothing to do with it.

Aside from the explaination of how Ben is still alive (which has to be terrible and cornball, by nature) I think it would be cool if he was in exile and as a result of the mindwipe he forgot everything about himself. Could make for an amazing story. Kaine also doesn't know anything about himself. He's just crazy.

Of course, with no marriage, or baby, and May's health never really getting bad originally, Ben wouldnt have had to come back... but that would mean the Clone Saga never happened.

Who knows how they will explain it, but it's another big hurdle for the current writers to manage with respect to making sure continuity isn't ruined, and making that jive with new stories.

That's what I had in mind. May had the stroke (or was it a heart attack) when she had a fight with Mary Jane. So no marriage means no stroke, and thus Ben would have never come back.
All this means: no Scarlet Spider, no Clone Saga, no Spider-Ben, no blonde hair. Ben might have been on the road all the time, and noone knows what happened to him during that time.

I guess we have to wait and see how they handle this, but the possabilities are endless and I trust Marvel will tell some great stories. I just hope the keep him around and never kill him off again.

I liked him as blonde because it gave him a bigger difference from peter. there was no mistake with who's who.

The Aunt May stroke did happen... it all happened just as it was presented in the comics.

The only difference is that Peter & MJ were "living together" as a couple as opposed to being a married couple.

Nonethless, I hope we see the return of the Scarlet Spider...

:yay:

I'll skim through it, but considering how I already regard the Spider books I'm not expecting much.

Obviously you haven't read the piece of **** that Marvel approved called Ultimatum.

Oh I read it, and ok, I wasn't really happy with it.
But I try to keep a positive attitude here, and when Ben comes back it has to be good.

Well, Jeph Loeb isn't writing this. If he was, I'd be worried. But he's not, so I don't see where any concern would come from.

The great thing about this story is it wouldn't have happened if it wasn't demanded by the fans. Remember just in 2001, Joe Q and JMS were declaring the Spidey books a "clone free zone"? How the times are changing... I wonder if sales on X-Men/Spidey #3 had anything to do with it.

I can't wait to see 'Wizard' explode in fanboy rage... In the 90's they could pressure Marvel into killing a character like Ben Reilly, but now with internet forums like this eating up their dwindling market-shares and influence, they can do nothing but stew.

So will Norman remember that Ben Reilly was the Scarlet Spider (even if he doesn't remember that Peter Parker was Spider-Man)? Will he then wonder why he cloned Ben Reilly? "Who is Ben Reilly...?" I just hope it's not a new Ben Reilly. But the solicit did say "reintroducing", so that gives me hope.

Yeah, but he read the first 125 issues of Ultimate Spider-Man, the entire run of the current Thor title, and the Brubaker run of Daredevil... I guess.

Incidentally, Clone-heads, pick up Marvel Index #9 in 3 months. I'll be writin' up most of the clone-saga issues fer Amazing Spidey after 400.
