Y'know a friend of mine is a screenwriter. Maybe he and I can talk to one of the guys at marvel studios and work on the script ourselves.

Does anyone else miss Kaine's costume? I mean yeah, it was very 90s. And when you think about it, the pink cape was kinda silly, but I always loved it whenever Bagley drew it. I am sad that it didn't appear in the Who Was Ben Reilly arc, but I am happy it still appears in the Clone Saga mini.

I love the enthusiasm but it'd never happen. In a million years. Even we somehow managed to write an Oscar callibre screenplay.

Well we already saw that Amazon had the first volume on pre-order for awhile, but its regardless it's sweet.

So, I have too much time on my hands and I figured out that the Clone Saga takes place over 145 issues! 27 out of those 145 are double-sized issues! Including mini-series, annuals, and everything. So, its going to take sooooooo many TPB to complete the whole thing. Especially since the first one only has like 13 issues.

You had to figure that out? You didn't just count the checklist on the first page of this thread?

I downloaded a torrent not too long ago that has all of the clone saga issues, but the guy who upoaded them put up a list of 224 issues. It's massive, but there are about 35 issues in this group that really have nothing to do with the clone saga at all, but they almost act as a catalyst in some respects. There is a steady build up of events that took place in the spidey books from the 70's-90's like the goblin legacy, doctor octopus unmasking spider-man, the introduction of the hobgoblin, the introduction of venom, the death of Kraven, the return of Peter's parents, the death of lance bannon, ned leeds is revealed as the hobgoblin, and so on and so forth.

Has anyone read the Planet of the Symbiotes/Scarlet Spider Super Special? I have been trying to find it for a while, but I can't seem to find the Venom Annual that is part three. Is it an interesting story, or is it not worth searching for?

awesome cover on the back but not a gret story - think i scanne dthe cover earlier in the thread

In the grand scheme of things, the planet of the symbiotes storyline, and the scarlet spider backup stories are not that important, because the events that take place in that story are retconned later anyway. Not only that but the plot in both stories were very incohesive and sloppy. There was no single plotline in each story, but instead what the writers did was in each consecutive issue they went off on another random tangent. So in the end I wouldn't waste your time. It's almost as bad as Scarlet Spider Unlimited # 1 and that story was awful.

Yeah all the Scarlet Spider titles were pretty bad. The virtual reality stories were stupid. Maybe they were more interesting in the 90s when the idea of virtual reality and stuff was newer, but I doubt it.

The Scarlet Spider solo books were great. And yeah, the VR stories had more of an impact when that technology was still new.

The Super Specials, however, I agree were drivel. And if ya want them to complete yer collection, check out cons or online stores fer yer best deals. The books, even in crappy condition, will set you back $5 or more.

I just read the preview for Clone Saga #3. Just gotta say this mini has left me cold. I don't feel engaged in the story at all. I like Ben and Kaine, but I'm not sure I'm gonna continue to spend my money on this. The art is great, but the dialogue (especially the constant exposition) is terrible. And the story is progressing waaaaaaay too fast. I will take the 1994-1996 clone saga over this re-imagining any time.

Yeah, the Clone saga mini has been sort of lame, despite fantastic art. But, I'm going to have to beg you to keep buying it. The writers have conveyed that if the series succeeds, then it will result in Ben Reilly ongoing series. So, I am willing to tough it out for Ben's solo series.

yeah despite my roller coaster opinion of this mini I'm in it for the long run. Plus the chance of a Ben ongoing series is incentive enough.

I really want to keep getting it in hopes of a Ben ongoing... but I just can't get into it at all, and at $4 an issue with my comic funds already far exceeding my wife's allowed limits (yeah... I know) it just isn't conceivable anymore. I'm thinking about writing Marvel or someone to inform them that while I wasn't a fan of the mini I'm still in support of a Ben Reilly ongoing. It won't make any differance, but I'd feel better. And for the record, besides the rushed story and all that... I don't even like the art... so the ONLY draw is the characters.

Anyone buying 2 copies to help sales? If so we'll call your extra one mine :)

As a huge fan of Ben Reilly I was and still am excited about this arc. Of course it's not the same like the 90s' saga, it's just 6 issues.
But the characters are great, and I also like the art. So this is a must-have for me.
Since I live in Germany it was hard to find a comic shop who ordered it for me, but I'll get all 6 issues.
And then I had the opportunity to visit the US on a business trip twice the last 2 month, and of course I bought another copy of #1 and #2, but I think I won't have the opportunity to buy another copy of #3 - #6.

But I do my best to give us a possible Ben Reilly ongoing. :yay:

Yeah but at what cost? It would be cool to have Ben back, it has to be done right. I don't want to read crappy stories about Ben, I want good stories.

I agree somewhat. I would like Ben to be back, but what would his solo series be like? What would differentiate it from the regular Spider-Man series? Would he use Spider-man's rogues gallery? Would he use new villains? Would everything be clone saga related? I'm just not really sure where his series would go. I understand the whole Ben as Spidey part, with the Daily Grind supporting cast and stuff, but I don't really know where the rest of it would go. What would be neat is if they found a way for Ben to wear both his Scarlet Spider and Spider-Man costumes.
