Ben Reilly will never come back. Marvel only references the Clone Saga through jokes; they will never bring back anything from that era.

in some new joe fridays thing its somewhere in these 99 pages (almost 100 wooooooooo)

Warned you guys not to get yer hopes up. But, hey, at least they're ACKNOWLEDGING clones fer now. Never know...

arrrrrhhhhhhhgh, im very pissed off, as im sure lots of us in here are...they MUST know people want ben back. guess were gonna still have to wait...

The problem is for every ONE fan that wants Ben back, there's probably ONE HUNDRED that don't.

Sorry to pee on your parade of happiness, but he's not coming back.

Ever.

:yay:

Sorry Tmob... but now you've given us more hope... Cause for every ONE fan who hated the Spider-marriage there were ONE HUNDRED that want to keep it... It's getting retconned... Ben's coming... but we're paying a heavy price for it... now if Ben comes back Joe Q will shift the blame on him and on the fans who want it back... Great now I've lost my hope...

Get over it people, Ben Reilly will never return. The Clone Saga was an embarrassment, in every way, for Marvel. Outside of joking about it, Marvel will never seriously return to that era and will never bring anything back from it.

Dude, what's your deal? If you hate Reilly why are you trolling this thread? Go do something constructive with your time, like send Joe Q a love-letter.

PS: Your outline for Spider-Man 4 was waaaay worse than the clone-saga. :woot:

I don't believe that either. I think there's many people who would object about another clone-saga or if Peter was shown as the "clone." If Ben was spun into his own limited series outside of the Spidey books (and the hardcore Ben haters could decide if it was canon or not for themselves), then there would be nothing but surprisingly great sales. There is a huge cult of Ben lovers as this board and others on the net have shown, and they're itching for a return or atleast some untold stories. I mean, hell, Spider-Girl was a series spun out of the clone-saga (complete with Kaine) and that's going on 115 issues due to the dedication of its fan-base.

I don't hate Reilly at all. In fact, part 3 of "The Greatest Responsibility" is one of my favorite issues of all the Spidey books. But holding out hope for Reilly's return is just blind optimism. It's not going to happen; Marvel does not and will not seriously acknowledge the Clone Saga ever again.

P.S. Good one?

I can't stand absolutist statements. I can't say Ben Reilly will definitely come back, as sure as you can't say he definitely won't. No one knows the future. Many people would have said at one time or another "Jason Todd will definitely never come back", "Bucky will definitely never come back" and "Spider-Man will definitely never unmask." And look where we are. So let us have our blind optimism, killjoy. Because we love the character and we love speculating on his return. As these events have shown, the comic-world is not like our world. There's no logic in comics and as long as there's no logic, then a Reilly return is always... heh... logical. :woot:

In all honesty, I'd be one of the first in line to buy a Scarlet Spider comic... in fact, I almost bought the new New Warriors #1 (and to keep buying it) based on that one panel where some hood was "webbed" up, and we know of Ben's relationship with the New Warriors; but that doesn't seem to be the case.

And I understand why people liked Ben Reilley... Marvel wrote him in such a way that they wanted people to like Ben Reilley... he was going to be the new Spider-Man.

Anyhoo, while I would like to never say never, I just don't see it happening anytime soon with all the hullabullaloo going on in the Spider-Books. Marvel needs to get the Spider-Verse with Peter Parker going straight before bringing back cloned versions of him.

Cheers...

Except Kaine, Kaine can come back anytime!

its gotten press as being that bad but it was 10 times better than current 616 spider-man

Ben Reilly will return I gaurentee it, maybe not soon but he will, purely because they know how many issues his return will sell...... and it won't be some thing small like in the initiative but it will probably be the focus on a spidey event

was mark millars mk spidey originally supposed to have reilly as the bad guy???

since Ben Reilly is the scarlet spider...

what do you think of having three clones of MVP be the scarlet spiders? and the way they "helped" Peter by saying that he was merely one of the Scarlet Spiders in order to put confusion about his identity? I think it's a far more clever way to bring back Peter's secret identity than having a Doc Strange or a Loki simply wipe out Spider-Man's real identity from everyone's mind

I'm just confused now......
If he is now "re-masked" (kind-of) then what is the point of Ome More Day/Brand New Day?

wait so...people just think peter is part of the SSteam now? dosent that raise his profile a lil more?

well that's what was in the new initiative issue, the scarlet spiders told the news that Peter was one of them, who where given suits who emulate Spider-Man powers and that Pater was merely kicked out of the program. Betty even makes reference to an old Spidey issue where they thought that Peter put on the suit to protect Spider-Man from Doc Ock.

Serisously, I thought it was a brilliant way to at least give some doubt to people, even Jameson :woot:

At that rate....Ben will never come back. :csad::csad::csad::csad::csad::csad:

Unless, bringing back a cloned version is the way to get the Spider-Verse back on track! Sounds oddly familiar though...hmmm

Marvel's just ******ed in their approach to aspects of the clone saga. They think it's Ben Reilly the readers hated, and not the actual saga. They bring in clones left and right and think that will appease the people who DID like Ben Reilly. They really have no clue.

Most sensible people, even those who admitted to hating the clone saga, liked Ben Reilly. They didnt want him as the original or Spider-Man, but they liked him. Alot of those who didn't like him at first, warmed to him and were upset by the time he was killed.

On the second point, we the Reilly faithful do not give two mudmonkeys (heh) about other clones, such as these new Scarlet Spiders or the Thor clone. That doesn't make us giddy with delight. We're not some weird cult enamored with the concept of cloning. We're Ben Reilly fans, because we like the actual character Ben Reilly. Geez, Marvel, get a hint!

Actually, I'm ok with the MVP clones.
After actually reading The Initiative 1-6 the few day before #7 came out, I had a feeling it was gonna be an Initiative character and not Ben.
Was i a lil dissappointed, yea, a little, but i thought it was a great issue.

Instead of starting a whole new thread I decided to ask this here; does marvel.com not work for anyone else? I can't get it working.
