Nathan Fillion as Hal Jordan, Justin Long as Kyle Rayner, Eric Stilts as Guy Gardner, Daniel Day Lewis as Sinestro, Micheal Clark Duncan as Killowag, Idris Elba as John Stewart

I actually think Gosling might work as Hal in this pic (he's a great actor, BTW):

This was posted on the Twitter page of El Mayimbe, from Latino Review:

"So after Ryan Gosling passed on Green Lantern, Cassey Affleck was next candidate but it didn't work out either. Back to square 1 for WB."

If this is true, that's a double-disappointment for me, as both Gosling and Affleck are great actors who would have really added something to the movie.

I think this difficulty in casting Hal is likely what's holding up the official greenlight. I'd imagine that Warner Bros would like to announce the film as a kind of "package deal", with their leading man (and likely a release date) already in place.

Well, attaching a star to a project opens up several doors. Sometimes not enough to get the movie to the screen.

if gosling and casey affleck did decline to do the film it does suck a bit, they are pretty good young generation actors. I hope they can get someone of good caliber for the role and the film does happen. I would hate to see this fall apart now being how close it is to going.

I, oddly enough, did not care to see either Gosling or Casey Affleck in the boots of Hal Jordan....Goslings too indie and Casey just doesn't do it for me

If this is the kind of young actor they want to play Hal Jordan - late 20s-to-early 30s, an unconventional choice for the role but a great actor who can make it work - perhaps they should take a risk and go for someone like Leonardo DiCaprio?

The problem is, while Gosling and Affleck are both rising stars, DiCaprio is a bona-fide A-list headliner, and I'd assume he therefore comes with an A-list price tag. That could put him out of the running.

The tricky thing is, in this age range, the list of really great actors of the Gosling/Affleck calibre is comparitively small.

"Gosling's too indie". What kind of criticism is that? Are you a Warner executive afraid that Gosling casting would not connect with the general audience?
'cause this is the kind of executives crap.

Well if Gosling or Affleck both turned it down, I hope it doesn't delay anything. WB seriously needs GL to come to fruition for their own good.

not quiet as known, as Gosling or Affleck

but... some (maybe abit random) names I was, kinda thinking
(though, there on the lower end of the age rang, and not in any particular order)

Scott Mechlowicz
Jonathan Tucker
mike vogel

Neither of those choices sound like Hal Jordan to me. Kyle Rayner, maybe.

Can't say I'm really upset about Gosling not accepting, but you also have to think of what they want the actor to sign for. Something tells me they dont want to pay that much or lock them in for a three movie deal which is pretty tough to do when your dealing with good actors. I was thinking michael weatherly from dark angel and ncis if thats his name.

That's just my opinion...'The Believer' is an all time favorite of mine, along with Half-Nelson...I like him, but I think he works well doing films that have a lot of substance...I honestly feel he is above doing a CBF....I hope to see him hold an Oscar one day....

I really liked Weatherly on Dark Angel. He is an interesting suggestion for Hal.

If they were making this 7 or 8 years ago, I would have said David James Elliott (JAG) for Hal, but I think he's a bit too old now

I really liked him in dark angel and apparently NCIS is doing really well and has actually gained viewers, I would post a pic if I knew how too.

That's too bad if Gosling has truly turned down the role. Surprising that he would do that. Doesn't seem like a logical decision but whatever. If he is one of those type of actors that thinks he is too good for a comic genre film, then he has a serious ego problem.

I doubt it was an ego thing, didnt he comment when he was rumoured for batman in JLA that he felt he wasnt right for it. I could see it being that or possibly because of a three picture deal/money which i mentioned before. Thanks for posting the pic dd44. He wouldnt be a bad choice.
