Can someone please name me a movie that Duhamel has done where he's actually impressive as an actor? I'm not saying that he can't, but if he can, I have yet to see it. I think if they pick him for this role, it will be about as inspired as Ben Affleck was for Daredevil.

As for Phillipe... I thought he was GREAT in The Way of the Gun... I think certain people were predisposed not to like him because they thought of him as a prettyboy actor.

But Ben Affleck was a great Matt Murdock.

I love Way of the Gun, but I still dont like Phillipe. Hes just kinda boring. Him and Caviezal yet they get thrown around here a lot, I'll never understand it.

watch 'Breach'....he shares lots of screen time with Chris Cooper and both of them are fantastic

Trevor St. John

I still think that Trevor St. John should get a shot. These could be his screen tests:

Chit chat is fine as there's no rumors to discuss at the moment, I'm just curious what made Knight randomly decide to bring up Jackman and steroids?

These forums are all about rumours and scuttlebutt anyway....

Hey, I think Duhamel has the potential to become the next Will Smith.

A guy who is not a great actor but he gets roles in big event style movies that make money and people think he is the "king" of something.

If it worked for crappy rappers like Smith and Wahlberg, then why can't it work for Duhamel?

Will Smith and Mark Wahlberg are actually both good actors, and both actually proved their acting chops before getting caught up in the blockbuster machine. Even now, Smith still gets to shine at times, though poor Wahlberg seems to attract crap films like poop draws flies.

Just watch this scene from Boogie Nights (WARNING: Language!), there is one bit where it's just a close-up of Wahlberg's face for over a minute, and you can read everything going on in his mind without a word. Just an astonishing bit of acting.

They both started out with nothing but screen presence and charisma though. They have definitely improved especially Will Smith.

Out of these three names, I think I would prefer Phillippe the most. Duhamel is a pretty average actor, IMO, and I'm not sure if he'd be able to carry a film this scale. And Hirsch simply doesn't look like Hal Jordan, besides being too young. I'd agree that he might not make a bad Kyle Rayner down the line though.

someone made a good point about Will Smith.....who thought the kid from "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" could make a decent lead in Independence Day??

Will Smith and Wahlberg are overrated IMO and I would be happy with Gosling or Duhamel as Hal.

Either way...I solid supporting cast will be needed.

My supporting cast differs depending on who plays Hal. If it's Duhamel, I'd like to see Michelle Ryan as Carol.

I liked Duhamel on Las Vegas, he has certain swagger that is fitting with Hal.

I just don't see the appeal of Duhamel. He's not exactly chameleon-like in terms of his acting ability.

And a resume like his which includes the likes of his work in All My Children, Las Vegas, Win A Date With Tad Hamilton!, Turistas and Transformers probably isn't ideal for what Warners is looking for.

Hal Jordan doesn't require a "chameleon-like" actor. Duhamel may not be perfect for an array of characters, but Jordan is in Duhamel's wheelhouse.

He's the biggest actor there is right now. Certainly a slip up with 7 pounds but Hancock and I Am Legend made as much as they did because of Smith.

How many people can say they were at the top of their game in music, television, and film. Not many.

It's kind of strange to even think about.

Unless something has changed, WB doesn't seem to be looking for a Duhamel type actor, Wahlberg would actually fit in with what we believe they are looking for.

Sometimes, WB likes to make things harder than they need to be.

I think Marsden would be perfect for the role, but I wonder if being Richard White would hinder that.

Yeah, I agree he'd be great, but I cannot see him being Cyclops, Richard White, AND Green Lantern.

I think it would be based more on whether or not he actually returns to either role at some point. Seems at this point that there is a slim chance of either role.

yea he is likely not going to see those two roles again. But since we know they were looking at folks like gosling and casey afleck for the role of hal we can see what they are trying to go for. Hopefully when all is said they find a good suited actor for the role and we get a great hal jordan green lantern film on par with bb/tdk, im, etc.....
