Ryan Philippe is actually underrated as an actor. However, though I think he'd be talented enough to pull off Hal, I'd probably have to say "No" to him, largely due to the enormous amount of fanboy outrage we'd have to put up with for the next year.

Philipe just seems so devoid of personality. hes a boring actor, same with Caviezal.

They have a few key roles that I have loved them in, but other than that they are very forgettable.

Way of the Gun itself is just awesomeness. Philipe and Del Toro practically have full conversations without actually speaking.

Nothing personal against him, but we all know he doesn't have a snowball's chance in Hell of even being allowed near the Green Lantern project, since the Passion of the Christ seems to have placed a stigma on him. And besides not really looking like Hal, I just don't see him really embodying Hal's persona.

Way of the Gun itself is just awesomeness. Philipe and Del Toro practically have full conversations without actually speaking.

The scenes between Del Toro and James Caan are just as good...."Adjudicate"

I'ma big fan of Phillipe and think there are comic book lead roles out there for him, just not hal.

I asked for a list, this is what the people wanted, and I threw a few extra names from other Hal polls I saw around the net.

A Passion of the Christ stigma = A stigmata

Although I do think Caviezel has more place in the poll than Emile Hirsch, who not only looks absolutely nothing like Hal but just headlined one of WB's hugest bombs ever this summer.

Speed Racer was ok, and I'm not saying he'll never work or be in a blockbuster again, but there is zero chance that the WB suits will take another huge chance on him again so soon.

Hirsch is very talented, I can see him getting a lead role again depending on how he does in Milk

Yeah Phillipe is a solid actor and a class act, but he's not a good choice for Hal. He would be better as the Barry Allen Flash. Hirsch is a bit too young.

Yes, yes you do. The Way of the Gun is one of the most underrated movies of all time. Also one of the most thought-provoking and unique crime drama/westerns ever made.

It's not the deepest film, but the movie was really fun to watch, and beautifully colorful.

I agree 100%. Phillipe would be better as Barry Allen and Hirsch is far to young.
