Except that movie Hal is in his 20's
Also anyone who sugests Nathan Fillion gets an instant:
Nathan Fillion is actually my pick for MARTIN Jordan, Hal's father.

^That would be interesting, who'd fill out the rest of your cast?
James Franco would be my preference of the "Gosling-esque" actors.

True. What do you think of the cast I just posted?
Now Gosling does bring credibility with a certain set of movie goers - the movie goers that probably are not going to see this movie anyway. Ryan Gosling's name and reputation means nothing to the overwelming majority of mainstream movie goers - neither does Affleck. That is why WB's insistence on getting these actors for this role is stupid. Now if Hal Jordon was a multi-layered character like Bale's Bruce, I could understand the insistence on it - but I read the script, its not.
For the record, they aren't ONLY considering 20s-ish actors; because Caviezel is actually in the mix.
Not to mention the artwork was drawn with David Boreanaz in mind; even though he's not one of the actors in the running.
Jensen Ackles is definitely NOT one of the actors in the mix of Hal Jordan. They aren't interested in CW TV actors for this.
Whoever they get will have a pretty good film resume.
Look at the type of cast they had for TDK. That's the kinda thing they're going for with GL.

Well, they sure as hell don't need Oscar winners/nominees for this movie (neither did Iron Man) They are playing the credibility game.
I love Caviezel, and would support him, but i do think they'll go younger, I wouldn't be surprised to see him as either martin jordan or Carl Ferris though.
Music to my ears!
Caviezal would be a good choice.....I don't understand why they wouldn't look at Duhamel or Hartnett though.
I wouldn't be surprised if they look at Wahlberg even though I'm not a big fan of his. I would much rather see an actor like Ryan Phillipe get the role ahead of Wahlberg.
It might not have "needed" them, but Iron Man sure as hell got them. Robert Downey Jr, Jeff Bridges, Gwyneth Paltrow, Terrence Howard. All respected actors and, to my knowledge, all either Oscar winners or Oscar nominees. In fact, it was the quality cast that got me interested in the Iron Man film, as I'd never found the character to be all that interesting.
I for one think it's good to know WB are looking for actors with a good film resume.
Has nothing to do with this thread, but I like the idea of Ryan Phillipe as Barry Allen.
