Not that we should always hold someone's past CV against them, of course. Another possible Hal Jordan candidate that occurred to me was Brit actor Dominic Cooper. Of course, he's best known for his role in the facepalm-inducing Mamma Mia!, which has gained him heartthrob status amongst that film's legions of female fans. But I recognise him more for his belter of a performance in the EXCELLENT British prison film The Escapist. Check it out when it hits US shores next year, or fellow Brits, check it out on DVD from February.

He's 30, which puts him roughly in the age range. If he could pull off an American accent he might be a possibility. Not saying he's my top choice. Just another name to throw in the mix.

My big issue is how is action with the ring going to work...the glow, the constructs.....that worries me

I think, perhaps more than any other superhero property, Green Lantern is one where they really needed to wait for the technology to catch up with the concept. Because even as recently as a few years ago, the ring constructs would likely have looked silly, even done with CGI. Now, however, I think they'll be able to pull it off.

I liked the description in the script: Fluid. Beautiful. A sci-fi martial art.

Yes...it should look "natural" as if it's just energy being pulled together and directed at something.....

They should really capture the sense that these are constructs generated by sheer force of willpower. So with a guy like Sinestro, when he generates his scimitars for battle, it should be clean, precise, efficient, as if they were solid green objects. But with inexperienced rookie Hal, his constructs should be scattered, shifting, unstable, like he hasn't learned how to control his ring fully yet.

Yea...like he makes a boxing glove and it dissapates as soon as he hits something

As long as it's done like the scene in New Frontier, I don't think we have anything to worry about.

Good find. If the movie can emulate anything like that and them in the air it'd be nothing short of amazing. Take that upside down Spider-man kiss!

i think he does wear a mask when he is out in the green lantern costume.

I like Scott Porter as Hal Jordan. He beat Sam Worthington in my favority for the part. :mgreen:

I think there are several actors who could play a good Hal Jordan.

I wasn't fond of the rumor of Gosling possible playing GL, but I'm kind of starting to like the idea.

yea he may have not been what people would think is the right person for the job but we dont know how he would have looked as hal or played the character. He could have done well as hal. I do hope who ever gets the role does well and can make us believe he i truly the character.

I think Rachel McAdams would be a good Carol Ferris. She'll be Irene Adler in Sherlock Holmes, so, we'll be able to see how she handles a "villanic" role. But she's my favorite choice for the role.

Is Irene Adler the "villanic" role you're talking about? Granted, I'm not all that familiar with the character, but I thought she was the closest thing Holmes had to a love interest

She is, but i have heard she's "ambiguous". Maybe i choose the wrong words.

I suspect Holmes might be attracted to an "ambiguous" woman.

i would be down with her as carol, i dont know much on the carol character but the actress is very talented.

Adler's a great character. She's sort of like Holmes' Catwoman. She had an excellent book of her own a few years back.

So... does anyone think this will be the month when we finally get the casting announcement?
