As Jmc said: You should't hold things back for a sequel that may not even happen. If you have it, you should use it.

But they dont have it. Their budget probably isnt big enough for them to properly expand on the corps for the first film, and people that dont even read comics are getting excited for this movie. So I'm thinkin theres gonna be a sequel .

I suppose youre right, but they obviously want to keep the corps more mysterious y'know? And then Hal will kinda be in the "family" in the second one, so they can expand on 'em more.

Joe Flanigan? I don't see it.

Take 15 years off his age and dye his hair a lighter brown, and I can see it happening. Just a suggestion -- if Josh Brolin was added to the poll, there's no reason why Flanigan shouldn't be added (they're both roughly the same age, give or take a year).

It's easy to say a Kyle-led title could have done just as well under the pen of Geoff Johns. But Rebirth was about more than the return of Hal. That was a key unifying element, and provided the sense of a fresh start required with the continuity quagmire the Green Lantern title had dug itself into. But it wasn't just the return of Hal. It was the return of Sinestro, of Coast City, of the Green Lantern Corps, of so much of the mythos that had made Green Lantern a great concept in the first place, that had all been abruptly wiped out in order to give Kyle Rayner a niche.

I agree that has something to with Hal's success but they could still bring back those characters with Kyle as the lead or in his own high profile series.

Still, what happened in Rebirth would have been a temporary spike in popularity among the non-Hal/classic GL fans had Johns moved onto something else and let a less profile creative teams execute the new volume. Johns' has been the main reason for GL's success, not Hal or the mythos.

While Sinestro, Coast City, the GLC are good concepts they could have been bought back with Kyle. They just need good high profile writer and artists do them justice. Hal's been much more lucky then Kyle in that respect. Without it they wouldn't be as popular as they are today without Johns or his incredible army of artists.

And when you consider that Hal was turned into a villain, wiped out much of his supporting cast and the stuff that made his mythos special to fans, before ultimately dying himself, I'd say that Kyle fans got off relatively lightly.

Kyle was turned evil and given much worse treatment as Parallax then Hal did. It may not have been as long but he wasn't given as much the same respect in the role. He was either a victim or a two dimensional villain.

Just because Kyle fans wre treated lightly doesn't eman they have to shunt Kyle off to a lesser role in the DCU. He does have a loyal fanbase and can reach the same potential Hal can IMO. He's just never been given the opportunity.

By comparison, being relegated to a prominent role in GL's secondary title (which is also great in its own right) isn't such a bad fate for Kyle.

Which still isn't equality.

GLC isn't just a secondary title, either. As good as the title is its still a massive downgrade for a character which kept the franchise alive for 10 years. He deserved more then that. Im sure the Hal fan base would feel the same way had the roles been reversed with Kyle keeping the flagship and Hal being only in GLC.

He should have got something like a series with Morrison and Quietly.

the main question (to me anyway) has always been, what caused Hal to be bought back...was GL not performing to expectations, did the shine come off of Kyle Rayner...??

Kyle wasn't exactly being given the same quality of treatment Hal has been getting by DC in the last few years. That's why Kyle wasn't performing to expectations, not due to lack of potential.

It's quite similar to the scenario that caused Hal to be replaced by Kyle, actually.

Sales were in the tank again. It seemed no one wanted to read about Kyle unless he was with Wally. JLA was doing just fine. Too bad he couldn't keep the main title going by himself. But I've always found the Green Lantern storyline better when it's a police precinct. Yeah, Hal is Vic Mackey but we get Shane, Ronnie, and Lem too.

:gl: :gl: :gl:
JLA had Morrison and Porter on it. Of course it was fine. That's why I suggested he write a Kyle series. He gets the character completely.

If Kyle's title were given that quality he'd still have the flagship GL book.

They did introduce some decent villains during Kyles time as GL....I did really like Effegy and they have included Fatality in the Sinestro Corps, I'm not sure if either of them are still alive though

That can backfire. See the Daredevil movie. They put to much in it at once.

Fatality is still alive. She's being held by the Star Saphires. I like her, too.

Not sure about Effigy.

Grayven is a Kyle enemy I thought was great. His debut story arc was incredible.

I'm an old school kinda guy... as far as visuals go, Invisible Destroyer would make a great screen villain. :cwink: Except for the part where it's all the mental projection of some lame, old man.

Old man villains can be disappointing if they don't shoot Force-lightning out of their hands... :oldrazz:

Um... Count Vertigo rocked, too!

I'm not talking about giving a name and a backstory to all the 7200 members of the Green Lantern Corps, but i think they could at least expand Kilowog and Tomar-Re's roles.

Fatality just became a new Star Sapphire.

Trevor St. John

I still think that Trevor St. John should get a shot. These could be his screen tests:
