I wouldn't make GL films as Earthbound superhero films. I'd make them as intergalactic space cop films. That's what sets GL apart from other superhero properties.

GL is hardly the only space opera franchise DC and Marvel have. I like the idea of GL being in space but GL's should keep the mask any way. Its not only how the costumes were intended to look like, they are great visually and space aliens can come to Earth on their own.

No, but it would set it apart in terms of superhero film franchises, and it's not just that it's a space opera, but that it's about a galactic police force. So even if Silver Surfer or The New Gods were made as films, Green Lantern would still stand apart from them.

Yes they are iconic, yes they look great on the page, but I don't care if we see them on film. In fact, I don't think they would look that great in live action.

Not recently but that doesn't mean they won't some day. Who knew a GL film would get this far? I didn't. Marvel's certainly less skiddish with their properties so I wouldn't count them out entirely. After all, Dr. Strange is meant to be in the next batch. If he can get a movie so can Nova, especially if GL is a success.

Well, even if there are other comic book films similar to GL eventually made, it's still important to emphasize those aspects that are different from the norm of a superhero in a contemporary urban setting. It would be a waste of the GL concept to have him Earthbound and defending Coast City. I'm glad they're going the space route.

So many have already but we know since in the script hal is late 20s and and wb only wanting mid 20-mid 30s actors for the role he is out. Though he would be a good choice but sucks he and like david b are likely not on wb's radar for the role.

Ive been saying for a long time that the fact Fillion is too old for what the studio is looking for is quite possibly the biggest shame to ever happen in comic book movies... No other actor embodies the character more.
One of us should start a petition or something...
Studios always listen to those...

Or we could get the reverse, an actor that everybody likes is cast, the film isn't great, and everybody forgets how much they wanted that actor for the role.

I wouldn't say its a TOTAL miscast, as Mad Eye Moody isn't too far off Kilowog in terms of attitude. But I'd certainly agree there are plenty of more suitable candidates for Kilowog, and plenty of more suitable comic characters for Gleeson to play.

Kilowog HAS to be CGI, but Brendan Gleeson or Dennis Haysbert would be a great voice for him.

Gleeson has a history of playing gruff yet likable characters which seems pretty appropriate for Kilowog. Haysbert's voice in JLU always bored me. There's no shortage of good actors for Kilowog, though. I'd be fine with John Goodman, Ving Rhames, Ray Winstone, Michael Clarke Duncan, Michael Madsen, etc...

Kilowog is big softy on the inside though. He just has a rough exterior.

The thing is. Kilowog is more like a straight-up drill sergeant. Gleeson's just not the right type for that role.

Cant we all just accept that in this instance the most obvious choice is the best one and go for Michael Clarke Duncan as Kilowog? He'd capture all of the facets of that characters personality perfectly...
