Doesn't make him a phony. Everything was fine with the devlopment of that film. Just a couple weeks ago we learned he would break the fourth wall. Reynolds was open about it in the process. Now all of a sudden this comes along. Something must have happened with him and Fox (big surprise) and he did this.

We can wait for a Deadpool film. It wouldn't be very successful anyway. It would end up like Watchmen. People wouldn't know what to think of it. Is it a serious movie or comedy? They wouldn't get it. It can wait. GL has alot more potential with a better studio and director, and it's full steam ahead. Reynolds jumped on that and it was smart.

And regarding Hal's characterization. It was fine in the script. He never did spew out one liners that much. It was very much Hal and it did remind me of Kirk a bit but grounded more and just an everage joe with a chip on his shoulder about his dad's death. He was played out in the script as he was in the comics. A pilot who think nothing of himself and becomes something of himself.

They're still writing the script for Deadpool, this is ready to film, it's entirely possible for him to do both. I just don't think DP will happen now.

I agree with this. Of course, fanboys will say "of course we need a Deadpool movie, it will be teh best thing everz!!1111!" But the reality is that movie would most likely just bomb. But fanboys don't want to hear that/believe that.

^Exactly. Part of me doesn't even think they should make a solo Flash movie. I don't think there is enough of an appeal for that character to warrant his own movie when his main power is the ability to run fast. So what. Superman can run fast and can do a whole slew of other things. GL's possibilities and abilities and it's universe are endless so he definitely deserves his own movie. I know someone can just argue that you just need the right imagination to make the Flash movie captivate the audience. I don't think it is worth the risk.

I believe Superman and Batman of course deserve their own movies along with GL and IMO, WW. I would just introduce Flash, Aquaman and Martian Manhunter in the JL film if by some miracle we ever get one. If you think about it, WB has never even released a solo Flash animated film. Even WW has her own solo animated film. I don't think Flash could carry his own movie, but that's just me.

c'mon man, give Flash a bit of credit. sure his comic book franchise is nowhere near the size of Supes, Bats and lately GL, but Flash has a broad appeal-- broader than anybodys IMHO because comedy has always been part of Flash's franchise. and if theres any surefire way of getting butts in the seats regardless of economic climate, its by making people laugh and feel good when the show is over. but comedy is hard to write and even harder if you have to incorporate it in an already established comicbook franchise. there was some energy to the Flash movie project when Reynolds was still attached to it but the development side never seemed to gel.

i have to admit that part of the reason why WW and GL got their own full length animated films was because WB/DC is forced to develop other franchises given the predicament with the Superman rights. the animated films are their testing ground to see if the labels are marketable. so far the reception is pretty good. i'm pretty sure The Flash animated movie wouldnt be too far behind.

We need some manips of Reynolds where the man isn't smiling. It's creepy when he's smilnig through the mask...

I agree. I have a feeling that if the Wonder Woman feature sold alot then a WW live action would be getting pushed for more now.

Haha! Agreed. He looks like a pedophile with a clever gameplan...

"Hello, little boy... Would You like to see my ring?" :hehe:

Is there any word on who might be in the running to play Sinestro?

I don't even think it matters. We knew Cooper was in the running for the longest, most of us believing he will get the role. We didn't hear RR's name, the person who would get the role, until literally the day he was cast.

I don't know much of Ryan Reynolds. What's the verdict here?

At least it wasn't Timberlake, I suppose.

Most are onboard with the pick and are pleased. The main concern seems to be how serious he can be in the role, or will it be just Ryan Reynolds playing the typical Ryan Reynolds character.

At least it wasn't Timberlake, I suppose.

This is the consensus from just about everyone.

Most ppl think hes funny some are just worried about him being dramatic
90% of ppl are happy about the choice
8% aren't sure what to think
2% are completely unhappy

At least thats what it seems like around various sites

Though, to be fair, those 2% are almost never happy about anything, and never will be.

not at all...
some ppl just don't like Reynolds, some ppl like Reynolds but dont really like this choice, etc.

Its just the ppl who go like "GL sucks, Reynolds sucks, this movie is gonna fail" who are never happy

yes...you know the types...live on a steady diet of hot pockets and red bull....have carpal tunnel from playing WoW all day and refer to their room in their parents basement as "their place" because it has its own door

Exactly.

^Also, they have never felt a woman's touch that wasn't virtual or a dark elf.

And they think that everything is "teh fail".

for the exception of their fanfic, which they could totally publish, but don't because that would take away from the purity of their writing

Well, I wanted to gauge if my reaction would change over the course of some hours. And I'm sad to say that instead of getting better it has gotten a bit worse.
The casting of Hal Jordan was the first fanboy casting that I''ve followed and it was fun. There were some great debates and iffy moments but all in all I thought it was cool. But in the end I just feel shortchanged.
Its so weird for me to describe but I just feel that after Chris Pine, Sam Worthington, Bradley Cooper that to go with Ryan Reynolds just seems bland. I think it will be Ryan Reynolds starring as Green Lantern nor Green Lantern starring Ryan Reynolds (if that makes sense)
To at least try and compare it to something, I feel like I would have felt if Jamie Foxx was cast as a superhero back in 2004 the year of Ray and Collateral . Yes, Jamie Foxx (Ryan Reynolds) is talented but there are other choices.
I just feel that Reynolds, while good was mostly just picked because he's pretty bankable right now. its just a weird feeling (like the ppl who take a look at a picture of someone smiling and then cal lsomebody a *****e) that neither Cooper, Reynolds, or Timberlake were Campbell's choices. I just feel that the studio went like here are the 3 choices pick one and so Campbell did.

My thoughts are jumbled and hard to express and Im tired. But I still think we have a winner overall

Yeah, this is also the first time I've followed a casting thread, and it was fun. I have a feeling that Ryan Renolds would not disappoint

I'm sorry but I'm saddend by this news. Reynolds is Deadpool and if he drops Deadpool for This is will be Utterly Pissed! I wanted cooper for the role(Don't flame me,He's who I wanted for the role don't tell me I was worng or why would I think that he is *****e,its my opinion I can care less what others think of him) with that being said I hope he owns the role and I hope he continues on with DP.

I'll be honest, until he says he's not gonna be deadpool, he's gonna be deadpool in my eyes. He could do both, but I think FOX probably will opt for First Class, or Magneto

Do you really think that was going to happen? They had to sell the film to Marvel first and all they had was Reynolds (there was no story or director). If you want to look at it that way, now Marvel could go after Cris Pine for that role. But in all honesty, after what happend with The Punisher, do you really think that Deadpool was going to happen?

No Flash was a given, and Reynolds is not getting any younger. This was the best opportunity for him and I am glad that he was offered the role and he took it. Mark my word, there will be somebody else that will fit the role of the Flash just fine and we will all be satisfied with the choice when it does happen.

Agreed. A Flash film isn't coming in a long time. Is it because he's not a profitable character? I don't think so. I just think that there's no big-name director out there who is enthused enough about The Flash. Green Lantern could change that.

Halle Berry already did it.

And majority of the people still wish she hadn't done either.

Yeah. When he was first suggested people weret exactly enthusiastic... "He would be a much better Guy Gardner!" they said... And i agreed.
Well, y'know what, folks? Now he can be...

Yeah, I was like that too. To me, Bradley Cooper would make the perfect Guy Gardner

I like Ryan Renolds. I liked Van Wilder, and I even liked Definitely Maybe. I believe that he can be versatile enough to be Hal Jordan.
