Stars are a lot more bankable than artists and writers.

About Deadpool: Not really. Along with Venom, Deadpool may have had one of the worst adaptations on the silver screen. I'm kind of hoping both of those movies died.

About Flash: Let me re-phrase what I said. Probably won't be a Flash movie for a while unless GL absolutely blows away the box office. The only franchise DC has that did what it should and then some is Batman. Catwoman was an abomination and Superman Returns didn't do nearly as well as predicted. I think DC's trying to act a little safe for now.

If Reynolds got what he wanted Deadpool could of been one of the best, IMO.
I don't get why WB isn't more daring with their comic book movies. Iron Man was a little known character outside of comic fans & now look at him. If Thor &/or Captain America are successful & WB doesn't green light Wonder Woman, a Superman reboot or (my most wanted DC movie) Flash, there's something wrong.

I'm just hoping he can be both Deadpool & Hal Jordan. Hell, this is good for everyone. Hal isn't played by Timberlake & if Reynolds is still Deadpool, he has to wear the mask so he isn't "Green Lantern with guns & swords".

I can't wait until 2011, the beginning (hopefully) of the DC movie franchise!

WB will probably put him on an exclusive contract....when this GL deal is official, the Deadpool movie is going to be shelved

Until the kid that plays the best friend on Hannah Montana is old enough for the role.

I dont know about shelved...probaly "delayed indefinitely"

Im surprised Fox/Marvel didnt put him on an exclusive contract

I hope not, they didn't do it with Halle Berry. Unless they knew Catwoman would be a piece of crap that everybody would hate.

I don't watch, but I met the ****er last weekend at the Disney Store downtown.

and you were doing what at a Disney Store??? did you stand in line to meet him and get him to sign your little pink notebook??:oldrazz:

^Female friend of mine is a cashier.

Agreed. That thing got waaay overused fairly quickly.

Yeah, that's becoming a pet peeve of mine, how its just misused. Yes, there are things worthy of a facepalm in response, but you have people who just use it as a crutch in place of an actual argument. Like, over on the DC boards there was a debate on the Silver Age, and the guy on one side of the argument wrote this detailed post, backing up each of his claims, and totally backing the other guy's argument into a corner. And the guy on the other side of the argument just responds with :facepalm. What do you think that's supposed to mean?!

if they're smart they will....Catwoman isn't a franchise character, GL is

I guess, but if they made Catwoman right it could of done good.

I want to hear what Reynolds says on this. I'm thinking Fox is the reason for this.

probably because Deadpool wasn't a stone cold lock and this film is...and probably because WB made him a better deal...Fox is being stingy these days with their money

If he's not DP, then it's because of Fox. I'm thinking they didn't want to listen to him & he said "F*** YOU!" & went to Green Lantern.

RYAN REYNOLDS: Hey everybody! We're making a Deadpool movie! It's gonna be great, we're fixing all the problems of his portrayal in X-Men Origins. He's gonna have the classic costume, he's gonna be the merc with a mouth full of wisecracking one-liners, he's gonna break the fourth wall, it'll be awesome, just like the comics...

FOX: Ummm...... yeah, about that. Breaking the fourth wall? That doesn't sound very profitable. I think it's best we keep Deadpool a blade-wielding mute in red jeans.

RYAN REYNOLDS: Man, that really sucks. After I promised the fans, you're gonna make me look like a liar? I think I'm just gonna do Green Lantern instead, you got a problem with that?

FOX: If we do, we won't tell anyone about it until you've finished shooting, so we can hold Warner Bros up for more easy money.

Fox is mulling which X-Men spinoff to make next, so Reynolds could hang around and hope that Deadpool would be the one to get the go-ahead or he could sign up for a sure thing. Plus Green Lantern is going to be an enormous production, much bigger than a prospective Deadpool film.

My guess is the budget for the Green Lantern movie will be double that of the Deadpool movie. Reynolds knows Fox's history with comic book films and he wanted to go with a more sure thing. It also probably helped that GL already has a director with a good track record attached to the film.

Though, to be fair, those 2% are almost never happy about anything, and never will be.

There are also people who would not accept that anyone but Nathan Fillion could do the role. They were going to hate anyone who got it.

LOL! good one :D

Exactly. I like Reynolds and he's got what it takes to be a superhero, but I'm still iffy on whether he can pull off Hal looks-wise.

But with Martin Campbell behind this decision, I have faith in this movie and Reynolds. As long as he can pull off the look in addition to acting the part (there are some TERRIFIC manips of RR as Hal), I'm going to see it opening day.
