Hmm, I might just try to pick up Secret Origins or the others you guys reccomended. I definately want to to get them before the film.

Do it, I just got into Green Lantern this year and it is well worth it. You should start with Rebirth though. Geoff has really crafted everything beautifully.

Maybe a few during Comic-Con but I expect most of them to come during the fall.

And these are all canon with eachother? Jeohns retconned it right? I don't have to read anything before Rebirth to understand what's going on?

I thought morrison was involved with the flash to be honest because he had a quote that was pulled from mtv splash page about things developing on it. I also think they must have had some involvement with GL too because the script seemed like it was going through a lot of rewrites so it would be great to see some of secret origin in there.

These are all from the same GL volume and lead directly to Blackest Night. Rebirth and Secret Origin are really good and every issue since Rage of Red Lanterns has been amazing.

Doctor Jones the only person you might not get at first is Kyle, he had a long run as GL before Rebirth. To answer your question though, no you really don't have to read anything before Rebirth.

The film does borrow from emerald dawn the most, secret origin was in the middle of the arc when they wrote the GL script or hadnt even started yet (not to sure?). I think Guggenhiem said that he read secret origins after and saw some good ideas like why abin sur would be in a ship if he has his ring, something Johns explained. Not to mention the script was leaked so some posters do know a lot about the original draft.

They've tapped up Johns to add some Secret Origins stuff to the rewritten script now, though... So we'll have to wait and see what they've put in there.

Not to mention, the secret character made specially for the movie.

Yep.

Geoff Johns told me he has talked to the Director Martin Campbell and he confirmed they will be using some of Secret Origins as inspiration in the film....I also mentioned if some panels from Emerald Dawn will be used in the film and Geoff nodded.

Same here Webhead. Maybe we could get a Sinestro casting at Comic Con. If they announce anything there, I would hope it would be Sinestro. Jason Isaacs, amirite? Kilowog would be cool too, but I doubt it. Carol Ferris would also be likely to be casted at CC if they announce something concerning GL film.

He has been one of my favorites for a long time, along with Hugo Weaving and Willem Dafoe.
