Yeah i thought it would be that word but it sounded weird.

Thanks!

There are other fine black actors who can play the role.

Anyway I'd love to see Stewart make an apperance.

Lotsa' fine white actors out there too, but I think Bale was a great choice for Batman. ;) Elba's my pick for Stewart if I had the choice. Obviously, they'll probably have to go with another fine choice.

I’ll try, if nothing else to try and get back on topic again! Some parts are hard to make out:

Sinestro: - Lanterns, a great light has gone out in the Universe, we face an unprecedented danger. An enemy powerful enough to destroy entire civilizations. Powerful enough to defeat our finest warrior Abin Sur, whose light can never be replaced.

Continued: - It was for this moment we were created, alone we are now vulnerable, but united we are still invincible. I don’t need to tell you your duty, I don’t need to tell you who we are.
We are the Corps!

Thanks man. I liked the speech. :yay:

I like Reynolds as Hal, if not for the fact that he'd have been a perfect Wally West. Too bad we can't time travel and bring back a young Paul Newman, since he's apparently who the original Green Lantern image was modeled after.

I don't really know if this one will be a hit. Shame because the latest footage really sold me and a handful of friends to Green Lantern, most of us who aren't that familiar with the source material. I think most of the detractors i heard came from their dislike of Reynolds, who despite his great talent and brilliant looks, dosen't really have the greatest batting average when it comes to quality films, and well Green Lantern seems like the most "comic book" of super heroes. When super heroes are adapted to film i always feel that the ones that get translated closest to real life and our real world are the ones that find the most success, aka Spider-Man, The Dark Knight, Iron Man, but with green lantern (and thor) It just seems bland and awkward during the Earth scenes, and during the alien/space scenes (Asgard for Thor) the tone shifts to something more appropriate and "proper" for it's story. Alot of the average joe friends i showed the two trailers to, were quite turned off by all the crazy looking aliens and space stuff

Point is, this whole thing sounds like quite a toughie to market towards the average joe. Which is a shame, because this is actually the one im looking forward to the most this year.

haha Doctor Jackstraw. Genius

You must have been on the Batboards earlier today.

Welcome to the Hype! :funny:

I think what has people so excited is that every comic movie so far has tried really hard to stay trapped in reality. It's always reality with just a tinge of fantasy/sci-fi. Even Thor, which looks like it's mostly dealing with depowered Thor trapped in the real world, book ended with just a bit of balls out asgard. This green lantern footage makes it look like a big comic movie is finally totally embracing an epic cosmic tone, with total earnestness, which just feels refreshing, after all the movies that went out of their way to stay rooted in gritty reality.

On the contrary, I think it's unique identity in contrast to the grounded superhero properties of recent time, can only be an advantage. There's a freshness to the product, and the huge scale of alien settings are a stand-out from the competition. I always figured if it was done right, GL has the most cinematic potential out of any other B-list properties making its way to Hollywood.

It remains to be seen if it can maintain its blockbuster appeal, but things are definitely looking on the bright side. I won't go as far as to say it would be the next Star Wars. But it's absolutely feasible for GL to be this year's Star Trek.

Nah i've been on these boards since early 2004 (mostly on the batboard), mostly lurking and using a couple of different accounts during those important times. The great bat-drought of April has made me hideously board, so i have now been reborn thanks to that beautiful synopsis!

Well, if the general public got into other sci fi films like Transformers and the rebooted Star Trek, then I don't see why they wouldn't see this film. Heck they even went to see crap sci films like Fantastic Four.

The marketing dept just has to do their part.

If you’re a fan of "both" like me (sorry don't have a Batman avatar like you [fanboys]), you should be able to handle Johns portraying]

Sorry, I stopped read right here, because it's now apparent you didn't actually read what I've been saying about Johns' writing in this situation (if you had bothered, you'd know that I'm fine with what Johns wrote). Or perhaps the problem is that you simply lack reading comprehension skills.

Fortunately, your shortcomings are not my responsibility, and I'm done with your nonsense. You can embarrass yourself at someone else's expense.

I recall Stewart having a cameo in a bar scene. Early on during the production, the guy cast as Stewart made a tweet about it. An ex-Marine turned actor if my memory serves correctly.

That's awesome, though I have a feeling they may eventually replace him in the sequels with a more known actor, if he is indeed playing John Stewart.
