I love almost everything I've seen about this film but I am not looking forward to Lively's performance.

I like her with dark hair, though.

I'm one of the few on silly messageboards like this one who liked Dunst in the first two Spider-Man movies (I wasn't in love with the way the character was writen sometimes in Spider-Man 2, eventhough I loved the film), I really liked Paltrow in Iron Man (she was in too little of the second one for some strange reason) and I didn't like the character but I thought that Maggie G did a good job in TDK. Also I liked Famke Jensen and Rebecca Romijn in the X-Men films. The actress in Captain America looks like she is going to do a good job and so do the good actresses they got for First Class.

I think that women get too much flak for these films. While everyone else was just rightfully hating on Kate Bosworth performance in Superman Returns, I wondered why Brandon Routh got off scott free for the bad acting he showed in that film? (I think that he is a far worst actor than Bosworth for the record, she was just way miscast) And the same goes for the Fantastic Four, the guy who played Reed was just as bad as Alba but she got all of the hate?

I thought that Lively was A-okay in The Town (not great and she was too young for the role) but she looks terrible in this film and miscast. Thats sad to me because I wanted it to work but it just looks like it isn't. She looks too young for the role and the acting looks bad so far. Hopefully I'm wrong and she just looks awful in the trailer.

I think Routh could have done ok... if he wasn't forced to do a Christopher Reeve impression and his character wasn't written terribly.

Bosworth was just terrible and totally miscast.

Have you seen him in anything else that tells you he has real range and talent?

Actually...this probably shouldn't be in this thread. :O

Heh well, no, actually. :D

But I just don't think you can lay his poor performance as Superman soley at his feet.

Maybe not. I don't think it was Routh's acting, but rather the things that they had him do in the film that did not help at all with the box-office numbers. Another thing was the fact that they spent so much money on the film and barely made anything on it (which is arguable at best). Note that neither the director nor any of the actors are associated with the franchise anymore.

I thought that at first but then I saw that Routh was mostly bad on Chuck and an episode of Fear Itself. I just flat out think that he is a pretty bad actor all around. I don't mind him in bit supporting roles but despite the looks, he isn't leading man material to me. He even looks bad in the Dead of Night previews (everything looks bad about Dead of Night, to be fair).

I think thats why he has had such a poor career after his big break. He's seen as a non actor. Chris Pine hasn't had trouble finding work after his break-out role in Star Trek and Hugh Jackman is the most famous recent example of an actor shooting to stardom after his break-out role in X-Men. Routh is having one of the worst post Superhero movie careers ever. Tobey Maguire was never an action star in the making so it stands to reason that he goes back to smaller dramas after the Spider-Man series brought him fame. But Brandon Routh looks like an action star/leading man and he still can't get any decent roles?

A huge part of the problem is Superman Returns. I still think that Routh is a bad actor but Singer and the writers did him no favors by not giving Superman any indearing things to do in that movie. Maguire got indearing/fun things to do in Spider-Man, Bale in Batman Begins (people accept that Batman is a unemotional and cold character so it's whole different other monster), Jackman in X-Men and RDJ got it in Iron Man but Routh got the cold shoulder in that regard. Superman came off as a inhuman jerk for the most part. It was unfair to do that to an up and coming actor.

I'm sorry for being off topic but I just wanted to reply to that post.

Back on Topic:

Blake Lively or the lead villain's silly look won't ruin the film for me though. As long as everything else is good.

Glad to see I'm not the only that thinks Hammond doesn't look great at all.

Ioan Gruffudd's a good actor, but more suited to period dramas like Hornblower and Amazing Grace. I hope Lively will be good, I doubt Campbell to make a wrong move in casting or else if there's a sequel they'll have to recast Star Sapphire.

I think Hector looks rather gross and that's why he'll be an effective villain, even though he looks like a paedophile even before the transformation. There's a fair amount of grossness in GL, just glancing at Sinestro Corps War, the vomiting Red Lanterns and the Black Lantern Corps.

So, I guess no one managed to get those TV spots. :F

"in the darkest night there will be light"

this explains why they are not showing her in the trailer. she doesnt fit in the movie.

Not this BS again...

BTW nice poster altough I'm not crazy about his face in it for some reason.

EDIT: I'm talking about the first one with the "imagination" tagline. So are these legit?
