they will call eachother and ask which ferrari they got from wednesday. both are rich. its just one movie. they dont care. its buisness :woot::cwink:

Reynolds won't care. This movie was just a money maker for him. I was never convinced he was passionate about this project. His interviews on all the talk shows seemed like he was just going through the motions.

I mean ****, he even started talking about Deadpool in one interview i saw. How can you do that when promoting another superhero movie?!?

Geoff Johns though? Oh he'll be upset. Hal Jordan is his baby.

$55 million opening prediction and Martin Campbell a possible scapegoat if the movie underperforms. The interesting part of the article was that Geoff Jones was involved in every major decision in the film.

i dont think you can pin blame on any single person, certainly not geoff johns. im not trying to defend geoff's innocence here, but he can give them all the good advice he wants, but how the film decides to translate and execute that advice is another matter entirely.

well, thats nothing new really. pretty much every movie is made by committee and its been like that for decades. and its not even necessarily a bad thing. it just depends on the committee.

The movie's numbers aren't out yet. That 55mil is just a guess based off of the midnight numbers.

I saw the movie a few hours ago I thought it was alright I like Ryan Reynolds but this was not for him I felt like he was just being him self and not Hal Jordan.

I'm sad about the movie, but not really worried. It'll make at least some money, but I don't think it'll get a sequel, despite the awesome After-Credits scene.

Guess they'll reboot it...

You're right, it's not only his fault, it's mostly WB's and DC Entertainment. WB is desperate for a cash cow at the moment since Nolan's Bat trilogy is ending as well as Harry Potter. According to the article, the marketing people were forced to advertise members of the Corps as a way to 'build the franchise'. It's sad that WB are selling Green Lantern as a product rather than a film. Marvel is guilty of this sometimes (using Iron Man 2 as a extended trailer for the Avengers).

How is the after credit scene awesome? It completely ruins Sinestro. We don't get to see his tragic fall from grace. He just sorta... goes bad without any development at all.

and rebooting/renumbering DC comic books!

Ohhh... don't get me started on that. Although there is a couple of interesting looking books. Most probably they will be cancelled in the first year though because they ain't big names.

Again this film wasn't built from the ground up by DC.

Well that article says Johns had a big say in the movie.

I think it's more after the fact. If he was with the project from day one, I think this would have been a different film.

i dont even know if i want this movie to make money. its a bad movie and deserves the fate of a bad movie. i dont want anyone involved to be rewarded for this crap.

I'm seeing it tonight. I've heard all the bad reviews for it but I need to see for myself. It's upsetting that DC can't seem to catch the same momentum with their characters like Marvel is. Plus I really like Ryan Reynolds and wanted this to be good for him after the Deadpool debacle.

Hopefully he'll get another crack at Deadpool. It's script is gold. It's like the, anti superhero cliche movie. It takes a massive dump on all the superhero origin movie formulas.

I read a really good essay by the creator of Savage Dragon that argued comic publishers would be better off bundling their titles into monthly trades. So for DC, we could have Action Comics, Detective Comics, Green Lantern, The Flash, Wonder Woman, and Justice League. Standard 23 page stories, but bundled together. This way, lesser known characters don't have to live and die on their own. This makes a lot of sense to me, and it's too bad DC didn't use the reboot to move to a similar model.

It's an interesting idea, but i don't think it will help out the lesser known characters and books.

See the thing is, the vast majority of comic book fans are just sheep who buy what the companies want them to buy. DC say Green Lantern is the flagship title of the DCU with all the big events linked to it? Marvel say Avengers is the flagship title of the Marvel Universe with all the big events linked to it?

Readers will gobble it all up, no matter how good or bad it is.

Whereas the lesser known, standalone books that don't have the benefit of being heavily marketed or "important" to the status quo of the universe at large or big name characters... don't sell at all well, even if they are critically acclaimed works of art.

You got that wrong. What was shown during the movie was his arrogance that he could control that power. His descent and how fear corrupts even the greatest GL is going to be shown in the next movie. By now, he was just feeling great because the power is immense.

Well, maybe they can play it off by having Sinestro hide that he's been using the yellow ring, and then some random lantern discovers his secret, so Sinestro kills him. Hal becomes suspicious of his death and finds out the truth and it results in a showdown. I'm gonna go start on a script....

That makes the most sense. I appreciate your explanation on it.
