But that takes away from Hal and Sinestro developing a friendship. It takes away from the chance to have Hal go visit Sinestro's home world and coming to the awful realisation of how Sinestro keeps things in order.

See stuff like that should have been in this film. Not only is it more development for Hal, having more training with the Lanterns, going out on missions with them. But it also develops Sinestro. It shows how far he is willing to go to keep the peace and order. Hinting at his dark side.

THEN you have him go completely bad in the sequel.

And that cant be shown in the sequel why?

haha yea i guess so.

See, this movie should have been about Hal becoming a Green Lantern and forming a bond with Sinestro. A bond that starts off as mentor/student, then evolves into an actual friendship. Sorta like a cosmic Riggs and Murtaugh.

**** all this crap on Earth with Hector Hammond and Parralax.

In the sequel, they can develop a friendship between Hal and Thaal. What the Lanterns don't know is that Sinestro uses his fear ring to rule his homeworld, experimenting with it. Another random lantern, maybe his sector partner, finds out. He kills him/her. As Jordan and Sinestro develop their friendship, Hal travels to Korugar to meet up with Sinestro, only to find Sinestro using the yellow ring. Maybe Sinestro tried to convince Hal that this is much better, but Hal refuses.

Yeah! Good thinking.
Cool, thanks man. Then after that, they hold and caress each other and are all like, "How did things get like this, we were such good friends." And the movie ends. Then the post credit scene is Carol trying on a Star Sapphire jewel.

^ Actually, the idea is to have Star Sapphire and the Manhunters in Green Lantern 2, with Sinestro experimenting on the ring and eventually leaving the Green Lantern Corps to form the Sinestro Corps that'll come back in full force in Green Lantern 3.

There's even nods to the Manhunters and Star Sapphire in the movie.

Because Sinestro already has the yellow ring? He has already embraced the power of Fear. It's too alte for Hal and Sinestro's relationship to develop.

That the guardians helped forge for him. And he said that he would be experimenting with it so there is still plenty of time for them to have some kind of bond before Sinestro fully turns his back on the GL corps and forms his own.

Did anyone notice the scene where Hal is in his apartment and says "Not bad, huh" that was in TV spots was not in the movie? I wonder how much got cut from this film?

^ It's a superhero movie and it has made solid numbers so far.

What makes you guys so sure Green Lantern will even get a sequel?
We're just speculating. Mark Strong embodies Sinestro in such a way that it would be a waste to not have a film with much more of him in it. It was a waste for them not to use him much in this film. The trailers and previews give you the false impression that there will be much more of the Corps members in the film than what there are. Makes me want to bite somebody. There needs to be a sequel that gives them time to shine.

What solid numbers? 3.5 million for midnight showings? That's not solid when you consider the fact that this is probably one of the most expensive movies ever produced.

It needs to make AT LEAST 250 million US. It probably won't.

I think the reviews and word of mouth are going to kill the chance for a sequel

I doubt that the word of mouth is bad about this film. My brother just saw it in Atlanta a few hours ago (in 2D) and he said it was great.

Get your brother out there with a camera, a mic, and a laptop so that he can tell everyone else! ;)

Saw it earlier today. As someone who was a little underwhelmed with the trailers, I have to say I enjoyed it. Yeah they're were plot holes and loopy editing but it was fun. Ryan Reynolds was great. Mark Strong was great just not enough of Sinestro.

The people who really think the movie is bad is really the comic book crowd but the mainstream audience seems to really like it so I wont be surprised if the movie does good we really only make up a small part of the demographic.

How do you know the mainstream audience likes it? None of us will know until the weekend is over.
