They went with the completely wrong types for Hal Jordan. But I mean, Steve McQueen is dead and Clint Eastwood is way too old.

There's this video of Ryan Reynolds being asked about the negative reception this film has gotten.

His dodging is cringe worthy but hey he needs to keep up appearances that the movie is good so I don't blame him.

This is a little late but here are some highlights from the premier:

Ryan Reynolds at premiere being asked about negative reviews

Reynolds:

Came back from it a while ago. It's not as bad as people are making it out to be. It's not even on the levels of FF, GR, and X3. I enjoyed aspects, but the biggest flaw was that they didn't develop any of the relationship right. I couldn't care for them as much. The ideas were there, but I didn't really feel for them. More time should have been taken to explore them. Hal and Carol, the friendship between Hal and Tom, and Hector and his father, and his relations to Hal and Carol. And most of all, Hal and his father. This is the central thing that makes him fearful and makes him have self doubt. All he was was a face. And they kept mentioning fear, fear, fear, yet they didn't properly show that relationship to make it mean something to Hal.

I think that reporter was very diplomatic she didn't go right out and say: "How do you feel about sucky reviews!!!!??". She asked if he thinks the opinions being bandied around are fair, and he gave a predictable answer. It wasn't that bad. Although he does look kinda sad.

Oh man that's hilarious. But i feel bad for him. You can see it on his face and how awkward he seems that he knows. Oh he knows alright... I bet he's extremely disappointed. This is the first blockbuster where he is THE guy. He deserves better.

The biggest flaw with this film is the lack of time on Oa and exploration into the mythology. I mean, Hal doesn't even meet the Guardians until near the end. This is a guy who's got Abin's ring for crying out loud. Also, the lack of help for Hal to beat parallax was just odd. Instead of Hal entering apartment for the 30th time, or another chat with Carol or a scene with the pointless friend, we could of had more time on Oa.

I did like the effects, the constructs and the little time on Oa. I didn't feel Blake or Ryan were miscast, I enjoyed them in the roles. Hector was a fun villain, bur got too much time. The first 40mins gave a great build up and entertained the hell outta me, but there's no pay off unfortunately.

At the end of the day, in recent years, it doesn't touch Batman Begins or TDK, but surpasses Returns IMO.

First thing I will say is, the critics have been way too harsh on this. 40%-50% on RT would have been fair.

Do you understand how rottentomatoes works?

The average score is 4.4.

24% is just the percentage of critics that thought it was overall worth seeing.

I thought RT worked differently. Guess I was wrong.

I don't know how First Class can be rated that low. It was fantastic. It's only thing i didn't like about it was the scene where the kids all were talking about their codenames.

Question, how did Hal know where to find Hector and his Dad in the lab scene? Did he just randomly crash in without knowing, or was there some set up I missed?

The ring beaconed by flashing Green and beeping or some ****.

They should've had the ring talk.

both ryan and johns have admitted to spending time on the net.
I wonder how they are taking this reaction.

:dry:what are those actual serious scores from you

:lmao:

yes.

green lantern was incomprehensible. parts of it didnt even make sense. if a movie is gonna be bad, okay. but at least make sense!

first class was a mixed bag, but the bad far outweighed the good. the whole movie was a giant schizo montage sequence....with moments of really solid acting.

thor was a competent movie, but nothing special. it wasnt BAAAAD, but it wasnt good either. it just sits right there in the middle. it was clearly striving for something grander, but it never came close to achieving it. but it did have some good solid things about it. some great acting from loki, some good character moments from others.

the funny thing is, im not even a marvel fan. i buy comics religiously every wednesday, and the vast majority of them are DC. i stopped buying x-men long ago because the books suck (aside from astonishing). i've never even touched a thor comic in my life. but i've been buying green lantern comics forever. and thats not to say my familiarity with GL created higher standards, and my lack of knowledge of thor allowed for lower standards. im looking at these strictly as movies.
