Wow, I can't believe people are still wondering about the dummy thing. Of course the friggin' Infected moved it there.

1.) They specifically introduced that dummy. Hell, I think it was the first one they had Neville interact with in the movie.

2.) I didn't get it from the movie, but from the premise, apparently the Infected are in the business of "watching" Neville during the day from their hideouts. (How they don't know where he lives, then, makes no sense to me. But more on that later.) Therefore the Infected would know (If, of course, they are smart enough to come to conclusions and they would have to be if they did set that trap up) that Neville was fond of that specific dummy.

3.) The SAME friggin' Infected was standing there with those dogs. Now, I knew from the SECOND I saw that thing stick it's face out into the sun that he was going to be a big part of this movie. This is part of the reason why they went to the trouble of showing this cat stick his face out there to get burnt. So you understand the dummy scene. Neville fell for his own trap idea.

Now... How the hell DID the Infected know where he lives? Like I said earlier, you'd figure if they were always watching him (as the premise alludes) then surely one of those days they'd see him go in his house. But he seemed pretty confident they didn't know where he lived and when the girl was driving him home, he even told her to wait until dawn to go to the house, because the Infected didn't know where he lived.

Only part I'm iffy about. Maybe I missed something. After Sam died I kinda started to lose interest.

He told her to wait until dawn, right when he sees them coming he asks her and she confesses that he was bleeding a lot and they came before dawn.

I couldn't believe anyone actually would think that. Because yeah, its clearly obvious that the infected were the ones who trapped him

I saw it last nite. A solid 8. The scene with sam's death was heartwrenching.

question here. It showed him stalking the deer to kill right? I was o.k. with that (I thought he was starving) untill it showed him at home in the next scene, with his home full of food.
Now, was he doing that with the deer to just have something to do or what?

I disagree. You could easily believe Will fell for his own trap. To think that the dark seekers were clever enough to trick Neville, doesn't make much sense.

If they're that clever, why couldn't they have found Neville before? They looked like didn't inhabit a single brain cell. It seemed to me that Will's lack of human contact was screwing with his mind.

That wasnt his trap. It was made by the Infected. Didnt you guys see the SAME Alpha malelooking at Neville when he caught that girl? The same one that led the attack on his house in the end? Thats right, AND it was the same guy that unleashed the dogs on him.

Moments prior to the dog attack he says something about the Infected having basic motoric functions but he gets that back in the face when he falls for that trap. Leads me to believe it was set up by the Infected, could just be his own trap though.

The part where he loses Sam was ... heartwrenching to say the least. Man, im 21 but I really felt like crying. The scene afterwards was awesome ... Neville going all out.

Was he spraying his own urine over the stairs of houses to confuse the Infected? Looked like it.

Awesome movie, definatly getting that on DVD.

i think the women infected was ''alpha'' males girlfriend. wife or hes bit....

it could be that the infected hated neville for all the years. but he crossed the line when he got hes women. so after that the ''allpha'' started to make a plan to catch him.
and it was the trap from the alpha. he saw neville build the trap. he was the one in the building. he was the one with the dogs. he was the one who looked so angry with hte dogs in hes arms.
plus after all those scenes you see that the same ''alpha'' is leading them to the house and is the one who brakes the glass.

so IMO when you go out from the theater everything needs to be perfect clear to you. of course there can be tons of interpretations.
for example i could say that will smith was in the matrix and this is a semi-sequel to the matrix revolutions.

While I believe it was the infected who trapped him, I do not believe it was "clearly obvious". They failed on that part to effectively develop the 'Dark Seekers' and show that they set up that trap, and had intelligence. I can see how many would think Neville set up traps around the city and forgot about it. He has been alone for over 3 years, so a few screws could've been loose.

The movie had it's flaws, but if anyone believes it was Neville's own trap, they clearly didn't pay attention. It was clear it was the same vamp who set the trap that had his girlfriend taken by Neville earlier, he was practically crying when the girl was taken. The main vamp simply set a similar trap. But the trap was clearly designed for the human Neville and not a vamp, here's why...

If Neville set his own trap, why put a pale faced dummy there? How does that lure a vamp? It was put there to confuse Neville and lure him to investigate. Next, Neville can only hunt during the day so the traps need to be shielded from the light. The snare had no sack to protect the vamps from the light like the other one did where he caught the female. Why would it be out in the open? Neville can only snare the vamps during the day in front of a hive, it can't be out in the open. No vampire could come that far out during the day. If Neville can only hunt during the day, the vamp would have been dust by the time he collected it from the snare in daylight since the snare had no sack.

The scene was set up to show us that Neville was wrong about their intelligence. The fact that the vamp had dogs on a LEASH and was clearly waiting for sundown to attack Neville was a dead giveaway.

I'm not saying people didn't think Neville set the trap, it's just pretty clear it was not set by Neville. The only way one would think that is if they were not paying attention or simply not that bright.

There were plenty of problems with the film. But the trap was pretty obvious.

He was facing vampires. That liquid was either holy water or garlic infused water. Not that that scene was necessary since they didn't do a good job with the whole vampire thing anyway.

True. You don't spread your own urine, that would attract predators.

I assumed it was a garlic extract, but your right it was a useless scene that never had a payoff. Obviously whatever it was it didn't work since they got in anyway. In the book, the vamps knew where he was so he had to protect his house with garlic, mirrors, and such.

In any case, why show it if you don't make it clear. There was no explanation and no payoff. Just another missed opportunity for a film that should have been much more.

Yep...Vinegar...It took me another viewing to catch it. I don't think there was ever an opportunity for them to explain it anywhere in the movie...I think they showed enough of it for us to at least figure it out..
