It seems like it would've been better if they had the original ending, because the alternate version which is what we saw, was so cheesy! It sucked to have him die, because i thought for sure there would be a part two. :(

Spoiler Tags.....some over seas haven't seen

In the original him, the girl and kid get away....I believe there is a shot of them driving over the bridge in one of the trailers. No clued why it was scrapped.

I believe it was in the films original ending.....thats what I read at least. Also there is set pics of the Mustang breaking through glass that wasn't in the film.
i knew this was going to happen.
everyone that saw the movie knows that when the ''alpha'' male jumped through the glass window neville also jumped at him and .....boom.

The ending in the theater was different then the one that was originally shot.

ok i think we are now on the same page
the pic that i showed was not the in hte theatrical cut but in the original ending that was not realesedl

I remember that. He said he died at the end. He wasn't happy with that ending and they haven't changed it. He still dies :(

Its a shame they didnt take the other ending ( if there is one ). I'd love to have seen Neville live.

This is the additional cap from that scene with the 'dark seeker' screaming at Neville

...and was this shot in the movie? I don't remember?

The bottom scene might be of overhead of when he sets off the bombs at hsi house, how far is Washington Square from Central Park?

*edit* the bottom one is the bomb at his house, not sure if it was in the film though.

For the first part, I got thsi off of YOutube

[BLACKOUT]The scene at 2:37, where the creatures were in the room with him was an alternative-ending tester; will smith had the Grenade in this hand, when some of the alpha creatures walk in through the broken door, the lead Alpha male has some kind of attachment to the alpha female on the medical table, He sees that she is alive and nearly ok, the lead alpha male scans will smith as seen in the trailer, then orders all the alpha creatures to retreat, leaving will smith alone....[/BLACKOUT]

I like that ending there much more, but I still think the book was better.

The book was much better, hundred times better although the movie was still fairly enjoyable.

yes! it was done perfectly. why do they always ruin perfection?
do they think audiences can't handle a main character heroically dieing?

I thoroughly enjoyed it. I just hated the part with
the dog dying :csad:

I saw it today, loved it. Will Smith was amazing, his ability to give off so much emotion and empathy with no one to play off was superb, I felt for him the whole way through and he keeps a virtually conversation free movie engrossing. the action beats were decent and the mood and tension were perfect.

The CGI was a bit off in some places but i didn't think it was all that bad and the infected felt sub human the way they moved. Alice Braga did a nice little job with her small role and I personally loved the ending.

The scenes with Neville and Sam were nicely played and THE scene between them was heartbreaking. The shot of him standing on the broken jet, atop the destroyed aircraft carrier was one of the shots of the year (2007).

That's what you would be like if you had to do it.

wasnt it already CGI from the beginning?

No, the director didn't like how the make up looked so he switched it. Besides, look at that picture, that vampire has individuality to him, unlike the bland same-looking vamps of the movie.

I know, people die all the time in films but the book ending was done so well and I would have been pleased with that instead of what we did get which I thought sucked.

I just watched the Movie last night, didn't really know what to expect because I barely knew anything about it. And damn, was that Movie scary at parts. It was a really good Movie, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Great performance by Will Smith as well.

i saw this movie today, and i cried.

i have NEVER done that before.

9/10

and i will declare war on those who hate this movie right now! WAR IS DECLARED!

I enjoyed the movie and all, was mucho sad with the dog :( Will Smith was very good ^_^

I just think it'd be awesome if they included the original version with all it's different scenes, different ending and non cgi vamps as an extra disc etc with commentary by Will Smith or something. Or just go ahead and do a directors cut or whatever...although that name doesn't work really if it was his decision to have cgi-pires. Maybe the Will Smith Edition or something like that?

Who knows, maybe in another 10-15 years or so the 4th time could be the charm, and the source material will finally have a proper turn on film.

unless its a sequel, this literature wont see a new turn
