im sure if they went with the novels story, the movie had totally be rated R, but that would of be fine with me

Why would they rate it R when you can get so much more money if it's PG-13 :whatever:

I would have loved a version that was more like the novel...It doesnt need excessive gore to be R...I'm afraid most people see this thinking he's just going to "shoot up zombies"....Anyway, I really enjoyed this and my only problem remains with the religious aspect...The alt ending really makes it a better experience.

My school is having a screening of this movie on Wednesday... But I'm going to be in class. :(

I just watched it.

7.5/10

A step up on I, Robot but unlike most Will Smith movies, this isn't something I see myself watching over and over again...

Oh and regards of the ending? I actually prefer the theatrical version. Though both are actually bittersweet and somber, I prefer the one that had Nevelle going out as the sacrificing hero...

I like that part as well...But then it's followed up by the "Yay! There's a military safe zone! weee!" At least with the second ending it establishes that the "zombies" were still remotely human and left the "safe zone" open ended.

7.6/10

I thought IAL was a great movie! Will Smith did a fantastic job and the action had me hanging off the edge of my seat

Thats what my one friend thought it woukld be. he was like I am legend sucked it was boring as hell and he didn't blow anything up really.

and i just wanted to smack him for saying that. I liked how it was a well paced thriller with action here and there.

Actually for me it wasn't even much of an action film either...

It really was more of an intimate character study...

...like a sci-fi "Castaway".

Lol.

Its not what I expected, but I liked it for what it was...

I kinda liked there wasn't all that much action.

Sorry, i have to disagree. The alternative ending is sooooooooooooooo much better. It's better because it makes sense. The whole movie was leading to the fact the Will Smith is in fact kidnapping these dark seekers and killing them while experimenting on them. and showing that these dark seekers has feelings and a brain god damn it. The movie had scenes of hinting the fact that these zombies have a mind, as soon as you see the leader react to Will Smith capturing the female zombie

I DOUBT GOD TOLD HIM TO KILL HIMSELF

I also have to agree. I truly preferred the alternate ending. These Darkseekers became a community unto itself (albeit savage), but nonetheless a family. You saw it in the lead Darkseekers eyes once his mate was captured. Neville dismissed it as becoming less human and more animal (hunting for food beyond where they can go - into the light), but it was the exact opposite. It showed compassion and the relentless pursuit to secure what you care about and cherish most. This was about love...Robert's love to free humanity from this virus and the lead Darkseeker's love for his mate and a sense of family.

I hated both endings having read the book.
But if I had to take one, it would be the alternate.
Driving and unsure of anymore survivors = Way more faithful than walled community BS.

I didn't care for their being a walled community, but I have to admit that Will Smith dying after he has nothing to live for but his cure was more satisfying.

i didn't get the DVD...so what is the alternate ending to the film? you can put it in spoiler if you want.

and i still assume it's not like the book? although i didn't read it myself, based on what i heard, i liked the uniqueness and the creativity of the book A OT better. it had more of a "planet of the apes"-ending type feel (although that was a feat in itself) i also hated how after all the trailers and all the commericial hype is up as the last man, they just happen to have a famiy and a whole community. i hated that idea.

Yeah.

It's like, maybe if there was an hour more of development after it could have been like the book.

Yeah.

cool thanks. yeah the book is very unique, and obviously fits the title better. i still enjoyed the movie, because i saw before i read anything about, and i thought smith did a good job with it.

and who is that cute girl in your avatar? clockwork orange?

im glad they stuck with the original ending, imo the alternate ending wouldn't fit because remember how Robert was recording himself saying something like " there pretty much not human ", the dark seekers fit to to be wild, climbing buildings, craving blood... one thing that bothered me was when the dark seekers didn't even attack Smith, why the hell would the leader just stop them, if anything the leader would of killed Smith for kidnapping the female

i think that was the point of the book. [blackout] In the book, nevel is literally the ONLY human survivor, and the creatures were actually smart and have a society. he used to kill them treating them like monsters, but at the end the creatures caught him and publicly executed him (not savagely killed) for killing all the vampires. and it made nevel realize that, is he really the normal one if he's the only one left and the creatures are the whole population. Since he used to kill the vampires, they saw him as the evil monster, not the other way around. we often think of legends like dracula as evil, but it's kinda looking at it from the legend's perspective. so right before his execution, he says something along the lines of "I am Legend"[/blackout] i think the alternate version tries to get closer to the book. i think i like the alternate better, because shows that nevel as the monster. he is the legend. at least attempts to be closer to the book, but but comes to a middle ground cause they forgave him instead of executed him.

Eh, I could see the novel being PG-13. As long as they toned down the female nudity in the book.

Got the DVD today and i prefer the alterante ending a lot more than the theatrical one. I like both endings for different reasons but the alternate one just seemed to fit more with the rest of the movie, and it developed the monsters a lot more. Its great to be able to watch 2 different versions of the movie with both ending fully integrated.

But yeah the alternate ending just felt much more satisfying on the whole.
