Official Monk Thread

Last night's episode was alright. VERY predictable though.

Wished Sharona was in it. It was the perfect episode for her to make a guess spot.

When Monk started, I loved it. It was quirky and Shalhoub was great in the lead. But after seven seasons, it has gotten really stale, because there has been absolutely no growth. Monk is as paranoid and phobic and Randy is still as clumsy and stupid as in the first episode. Now that I think about, Stottlemeyer and Sharona are the only two characters in the whole show, who've changed. And Sharona left, only to be replaced by another blonde, who after (correct me if I'm wrong) 3 seasons still calls Adrian "Mr. Monk", like he's still nothing more than his boss, not a friend.

Randy was a dick in the first few episodes before he became the goofy comedy relief.

So apparently this summer's season will be the last. R.I.P. Monk. :csad:

I thought it was ending next year.

EDIT: Nevermind. I forgot the season starts in the summer and ends in the winter.

Though I agree with Swordmaster. Monk has had a good run but I think it's time.

Hopefully Sharona makes a cameo of sort. It wouldn't feel right without her.

Though I still enjoy the show, it is a much different show since the departure of the Sharona character. None of the characters have really grown, most have digressed. Just about every week you see Monk do something that he never would have done, because of his phobias, when the show started. Still a fun show - better than a lot of the other garbage on the dumber-downer.

Ive been a fan of the show since it started, my mom an I use to watch it every Friday night. Ive missed the last few seasons due to work but I always catch a few that I missed when USA does a marathon cause its the second Saturday on the month. I'll do my best to keep up with the final season as it comes to an end

I certainly hope that they actually reveal who killed Trudy. I think it could very well be Monks nemess.

I really hope Trudy's death is handled well on the last season.

Monk is one of my favorite shows ever on television and Shaloub does such a remarkable job.

Season 7 was as good as I hoped, but it was still entertaining as always. Let's hope season 8 is a gem! I will miss the show after its done!

I'm actually really glad there is a thread on this, I thought I was one of the only Monk fans on here.

Yay a Monk thread!

I love this show! :}

Beiderbeck (the 800 pound guy) from season 1 is my favorite character.
I also like Disher, he seems like he has ADHD :D

Eh, it's time, I think. The show's getting kind of dry.

These posts.

I stopped watching the show a bit after Natalie came on. The last Monk episode I watched and thoroughly enjoyed was Mr. Monk Is Up All Night.

A spin-off called Little Monk?

From an interview with Bella Thorne

Shock: I'm sorry that your show "My Own Worst Enemy" got canceled, but I hear that you're working on a new one. Can you tell us anything about it?

Thorne:
I just got done today shooting the first episode of "Little Monk." You know the show "Monk"? This is like that, but when he's little.

Shock: Really? I hadn't even heard of that. That's great.

Thorne: It's going to be on NBC and USA. I play a series regular which is Wendy, and she is Ambrose's crush. Ambrose is Monk's older brother, and he doesn't talk, so he has an itty-bitty problem there. It's actually really funny.

I'll give it a chance.

Well, the final season started last night.

The dream sequence & returning the book scene were hilarious.

very funny episode last night! much better than last season's opener.

"no question's asked" part was genius!

yea if Trudys death isnt explained in the final season than I am pretty much calling the season a disappointment. Also I thought the first episode was a bit of a disappointment. I got high hopes for the rest of the season

The creators have already announced that they would solve Trudy's death and what happens to Monk's career this season.

And Sharona is making a guest appearance this season

Ha! I loved Monk trying to figure out what the mirror over the bed meant.

Glad Sharona is coming back.

Thanks goodness! I'm so glad I'm not only one who is a fan of Monk. I've been a HUGE, HUGE fan of Monk and have all 7 seasons sets. I thought this show is a fantastic and I'm very sad that season 8 is the final season. :(

I'm SO glad that we will see Sharona again, guest appearance and I'm hoping she appear few episodes to the final episode.

I love Natalie and the actress is absolutely fabulous!

As for the new first episode of the final season, I thought it was good and hilarious. The great moment of this episode, Natalie, Randy and Monk's reaction about the book. It was hilarious. :woot:

I"m looking forward to the next episode. It looks good.

And so tonight was the night.

The return of Sharona. :applaud

Loved the bickering scene between Sharona and Natalie. Sharona was right with anything she was saying. Natalie is too damn soft on the guy. And what about that ending !? Sharona and Disher ! :wow: I guess they're going to end it with everyone finding a significant other. Captain has his Trudy. Disher now has Sharona. Could we see Monk and Natalie as a couple ?

Another thing about the Captain's Trudy. I lol at the theory that T.K. = Trudy's Killer. That would be too ****in' stupid to digest.

And I loved the ending to Monk and Harold's silly rivalry.

Seems like no one cares about this show anymore but I thought I'd bump it since the series finale has begun.

Coach killed Trudy! :wow:

Still, I'm fairly disappointed. There was no build up or anything. Within five minutes we see him meeting a judge and you know immedietly that he is THE Judge. Then it shows him in the cliche, shadowy room ordering Monk's death? There was no build up or anything. For such an important mystery, the execution was terrible. Though in all fairness the show hasn't been consistently good since season 3...so, its to be expected. Still, the producers took something great and just absolutely destroyed it :(

Also, the ending is incredibly predictable now.

The judge had an illigitment child. The missing midwife told Trudy who was going to break the story. Being a judge/politician it would destroy his career. The judge was able to pay off the doctor (Ed Bagely's character) but not Trudy or the midwife. So he had them killed. That is why Trudy was so nervous about her going missing, because she was her source and she knew she could be next. 12 years later, the judge is being appointed to the California Supreme Court, Bagely's character gets greedy, tries to blackmail him for more money. He has Bagely killed. Once Monk is on the case, he realizes he'll put two and two together and orders his death as well. And there you have it. Trudy Monk was killed by a pseudo-John Edwards. :(

She should have never left. :(

Yeah... Lets stop with all the illogical nastalgia crap. Natalie is a million times better than Sh**rona.:whatever:

This episode just proved it.

I know right! I am hoping that the Judge was just a ruse. I really hope that they didn't just introduce the killer in the final episode. I was always hoping it would be Harold.
