I dont use Makoto, waste of a good character spot IMO she brings nothing new to the table, storyline wise and design wise, would have much rather seen Alex, Birdie, Eagle, Rolento or someone else original

Rolento would've been great for SSFIV.

The Mak was a beast in 3rd Strike. Capcom brought her over to the SF4 engine and it did not work well. They didnt give her tools to get through fireballs, since zoning is a much larger part of the game than in 3rd Strike. Also, her walk speed was terrible in 3rd strike, but the ability to parry didn't screw her over

So in SF4 she lacks a legitmate way to get through fireballs and is totally outzoned by the likes of Guile, Sagat, etc
AND she has a tough time in footsies and catching up to enemies who can run circles around her. She gets rushed down, zoned, everything. its sad really
doesnt help that her health is 950 either

as far as help with Mak, you're just doing the motion wrong and need to be more precise with your inputs.

and i DONT think she is a wasted spot. If capcom can patch her to include unthrowable karakusas (like Abels tornado throw) and ex armor on her hayates, she'd BEAST imo
the true wasted spot is Dan...he is a barebones shoto. we already have..like 7. a REAL waste
I also think Adon is a waste too. his off the walls are easy to see coming are dont do anything really special as a follow up. I dont care for him much

wow, dodgers2213, you main honda?

too bad you're on xbl; would love you fight you.

Another Street Fighter Anime in the works:

I got to play online for the first time today and won 9 matches in a row without losing only to die on the 10th bc of lag. I was so close to getting the trophy

an example of how beast makoto could be in 3rd strike

Yeah, Makoto was awesome in 3rd Strike. In 4 tho, and this might just be me, but I find her pretty lackluster. She's still good, but IMO so many other characters outshine and priority her from my experience. Fighting Cammy on Hard with Makoto was a nightmare for me. Cammy's cannon drill hits faster, lower, and seemed to have priority over anything Makoto could do. Jumping in on her gets met with a cannon strike. Plus her striking the ground move seems to have less range. A lot of the time if I hit someone blocking and then try to do that ground strike the knockback seems to leave me just out of range leaving me open. Anyway that could just be me, Makoto's still good, just not as good in 4 as she was 3 IMO.

I really do like Juri tho. I was iffy on her before the game's release, but she's awesome. The oil'd up guy....not so much. I also had a lot of fun in the rival match up inbetween Dudley and Balrog. I was hoping they'd be rivals while I was playing as Dudley, and the fighting style clash made it a really fun fight. Over all of that tho I'm happy with the re-inclusion of DeeJay. Anymore I switch inbetween him and Guild online.

So many characters, it's great. I'm trying to beat the game with everyone once on hard just to get used to the new balance and everything. I've been playing off an on for days and just realized after all of that I still have 14 ppl to beat the game with.

I thought this would SFIV would stuff added in...I didnt realize anything would be taken out. Im upset they removed the time trials and survival mode. I dont get why they would do that. I also dont like that they removed the 1 on 1 battles in the online mode. I prefer how it was set up in SFIV as opposed to waiting in a lobby waiting for my turn to come up. I think it was better randomly finding one person to play with and deciding to continue on with that one person over and over

They also took out replays of unlocked videos. Like, once you beat the game, you better watch that ending video, or beat it again to see it.

oh yeah thats another thing. I dont get the reasoning or logic behind removing these features. I hope they get patched back in in a future update but Im not holding my breath

I think it was moreso an oversight than an outright removal.

Huh? They still have 1 on 1 fights online

They probably took out all that other stuff because it was mostly useless. You want to be challenged by the computer, just jack up the arcade difficulty and play through that. Survival and Time Trail were kind of just tacked on modes anyway, nothing much.

As far as the opening and ending sequences...why would you want to see them again...

How do you get to them, bc what I see is one big lobby of 2-8 people, which involves waiting in line until the other matches are over

Survival and Time trial arent simply tacked on modes. Some people actually did like them. For me, survival should be standard in all fighters. It used to be more of a standard mode, but Ive been seeing it less. It shouldnt have been removed.

Some people like to see movies in games, more than once without having to complete the game all over again to get an ending

Uh, you just search for a bout under ranked match. Sounds like you're just going into Endless Battle mode over and over.

Eh, I never saw much point to them. You want to be challenged by computers just jack up the difficulty in Arcade. Otherwise, I don't see any point to stuff like Survival and Time Trial.

Why? Almost all of them suck, and even the ones that don't suck are so short and pointless it doesn't seem to me that it'd be an issue for anybody.

So there are only ranked ones this time? I tried ranked mode, and you cant continue fighting with the same person. It knocks you back to the main menu when the fight is done

Thats not the same thing at all.

I dont think anyone things its a major issue. It just seems odd what they wouldnt be replayable

Yeah, but it was still a 1 on 1 lobby, right? No waiting for other people? I guess you can't stay in a 1 on 1 lobby anymore. Maybe they don't want you to buff you're achievements/trophies and/or win rate using that method or something, I don't know

How is it not? Isn't that the point of Survival and Time Trial?
Arcade - a set number of matches 6-8 leading up to the final boss

Survival mode - infinite number of matches that only ends when the player has depleted his health gauge. There were differen variations to this. One had 1 gauge which never replenished. Another replenished a small amount, while another replenished for Perfects, Super/Ultra move finish, etc...

Time Trial - A set number of matches with a target time to beat. There were different ranks depending on how fast you beat it. Like with survival, there were variations on it which would deduct from your time, such as perfects, super/utltra move finish, etc...

I preferred it the other way bc sometimes it can be hard finding cool people to play with online. I liked just randomly going on there and sticking with someone I was having fun with

Yes, I'm fully aware of what these modes are, but what I'm saying is that the point is to be challenged by the computer, and you can easily do that in Arcade mode if you want. I just don't see them as much of anything to worry about. I only played through them in the first game for the unlocking colors and such

yes you are facing off against a computer but there are different goals to it. Its not the same thing as arcade mode. Dont know how else to explain it other than what Ive already posted

Got myself the game and played some rounds with Havok yesterday. It was nothing but one humiliation after the other. A string of defeat.

Mark my words Havok. One day, I will own you! And I will own you hard! :argh:

It's been fun though. :yay:

haha, oh yeah it was fun. I thought Id be a bit more rusty bc its been so long since Ive played. I need to try out some of the newer characters bc I havent had a chance to use the whole roster yet

training mode is your friend (challenge mode is not horrible this time around either!)
