Official Street Fighter IV Thread

thanks.

yeah, I read some reviews on that and some ppl say the d-pad can actually fall out! Plus, it costs $60-70.

I'll also look into the "Versus" pads that have the 6 face buttons.........

Those are very good, I can personally vouch for that, you can even use them in your PC with emulators and stuff! I have both Ryu and Chun-Li pads from when Vanilla SF4 came out in 2009, they released more when Super cameout last year (With Juri, T.Hawk, etc).

thanks! cool! I'll check those out!

how about the "non-Street Fighter themed" Versus pad?

http://www.gamestop.com/xbox-360/accessories/xbox-360-versus-controller-pdp/90035

is that the same thing, but without the SF "themes?"

oh, and how does the d-pad feel on those pads?

I've read/heard that the d-pads are like "mini-thumbsticks." is that true?

and, I take it, those pads can be used for ALL fighting games ( Marvel vs Capcom 3, Mortal Kombat, Tekken, Soul Calibur, etc. ) and not just Street Fighter, correct?

^The one you linked has that mini thumbstick thingy but I can't really talk about those since I haven't used them, and not its defnetely not the same as the SF themed pads (made by MadCatz), the D-Pad on the SF Pad is a round one very much like Sega used to do on the Genesis and Saturn days. And finally yes, you would be pretty much set for any fighter with the SF fightpad.

Ninja Edit

Scroll down on the very same page you linked and you will see as a recommendation a SF pad (Akuma themed), you will notice is not the same as the one made by PDP (main product featured on your link)

thank again.

yeah.....I didn't catch that SF pad recommendation on the page I linked.

it seems, though, the SF pads are hard to find now? My local stores don't seem to have anymore.

also, are the SF pads wired or wireless?

I just got back from my local Gamestop and tried out the Versus pad I linked you to.

The mini-thumbstick is........interesting. I think I'd have to get used to that.

also, I was a bit disappointed that the controller was wired. I don't know if that will be long enough, as I sit a good 10-12 ft away from my TV.......

The SF Pads (on Xbox) are wired also, thats also why you can use them on a PC for emulators and stuff. I don't recall whats the length of the cable but I think they are quite on the long side or at least I never had an issue with it, yeah I guess your best bet for those pads was online but I guess if you're content with the thumbstick one then its fine, but personally I never tried that one so thats why I could not recommend it. Either way I guess anything is better than the d-pad from the stock Xbox controller.

do you know if the SF pads for PS3 are wired as well? It's hard to tell from the pictures online.

but I'll check around locally for those SF pads; if I can't find them, I'll pick up the thumb-stick pad.

But I definitely want to buy them locally. If I don't like the way they feel, or they're not long enough, it will be easier to return them.

PS3 fightpads are wireless, they connect via bluetooth like dualshock 3, MadCatz couldn't use MS propietary wireless technology for 360 pads or it would've raised the cost of the pads, thats why they had to be wired for Xbox.

I'll keep that in mind, too.

I just got the arcades edition. My go 2 guy is Adon. I am very good at going against Ryu, ken, Akuma, and Sagat. I have a hard time against others online. They turtle and throw small shots from the turtle position. It kind of gets on my nerves, because it makes the game play kind of boring. Is there a strategy against people who fight like that online?

I guess I don’t like how defensive this game is.

jump over badly spaced projectiles to advance, walk forward, use jaguar kicks in your strings they are very very safe (ex version is overhead and blows up crouch block, also goes through projectiles), forward medium punch is overhead

Jesus ****ing Christ I hate everybody that uses Ryu and Ken just to spam the hell out of those moves. -___-

there is spam and there is zoning. One is skill and the other is not. one is easily beaten, the other requires skill to counter skill

advice to beat someone who has no idea how to properly use a projectile. WALK FORWARD and focus absorb (build yourself some ultra meter...will make him think a little bit more about giving you meter. beware EX projectiles or getting normal'd to break focus), neutral jump, jump forward (must be timed right or you will be anti-aired. try an empty jump and watch their uppercut totally whiff then punish), use a move that goes through projectiles or a multi-hitting projectile if you have one.

same hold true for beating a zoner. But its harder and will require patience

Thanks!

I spent about half an hour trying to pull of the ultra combo thing until I relized it was three buttons at the same time and not tapping the same button three times :/

So I just got the PC version of AE and damn do the graphics look clean at 1080P! I know people say things like "fighting games are not about graphics" but wow, it will be hard to go back to my PS3 version in all honesty.

Iv always thought SFIV looked gorgeous. One of the reasons why i love that game so much.

I like the cartoon touches. Like when the game pauses for a second when Juri breaks a fellows back or the character bangs against the screen Seth uses this ying-yang thing.

Yea I agree. Love some of the expressions the characters make when they take a punch to the gut.

is there that much of a difference between the PC version and the PS3 version?

does it cost money to play online with the PC version? do you have to pay extra like you have to do with XBOX Gold?

I like the PS3 version because the PS3 controller is much better, imo, than the 360 controller for fighting games. Also, playing online is free on the PS3. I rarely go online, but it's nice to know that I don't have to pay extra for it.

Aside from being abit sharper, higher frame-rate and forcing AO not really.
It doesn't really need super high res textures or a bunch of realistic effects.

c'man, no one on here has AE and XBL? :csad:

I thought about getting the AE download but I don't like switching between multiple fighters and at the moment MK has my focus.

What all comes in the AE download?

The AE adds:

"Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition brings the total roster to 39, adding four new characters into the battle with Evil Ryu, well-known twins Yun and Yang from Street Fighter III, and an all new character, Oni," Capcom said.

"Each with their own unique move sets and super combos, these new characters are beautifully rendered in the trademark Super Street Fighter art style. All the returning characters in the roster have also been rebalanced, from subtle changes such as recovery speeds to more drastic hit box alterations."

Besides the features above, the replay channel has also been updated in this Arcade edition, in order to make it easier to watch matches of the best fighters in the world and learn from their strategies, or just see what your favorite fighters can do in the hands of professional players.

"The Replay Follower allows tracking for 5 favorite players with notifications when new replays are available from this set," Capcom explained. "Proud players can distribute their data to up to 50 friends via the My Channel Advanced feature. Matches by featuring the best-of-the-best can be viewed on the Elite Channel where players can watch replays of the top players by filtering out matches with lower scores."
