ha, no problem. I thought I was remembering it wrong.

I remember lovign the hobbit and then hating the books because they were so drawn out, I started reading Fellowship got like a 150 pages in and said "**** this", I really should try reading them again... I just really liked the hobbit, a nice contained story with likeable characters... Completely different beast from LoTR.

I thought it was 13 dwarfs that Bilbo went on an adventure with.

There are 13 Dwarfs.

Thorin, Balin, Dwalin, Oin, Gloin, Dori, Nori, Ori, Fili, Kili, Bifur, Bofur and Bombur.

I'm really looking forward to that very first scene between Bilbo and Gandalf. All them "Good Mornings." :)

thanx. I think the hobbit can be as epic as the Lotr, maybe more so. The battle of the 5 armies should really be something to see.

Hobbit can't be more epic than Lord of the Rings, it wasn't meant to be, and shouldn't be. As Movies205 said, it's a much smaller and more contained story. Personally I think the Hobbit has more heart than Rings and could turn out to be even better though. I love the graphic novel adaptation, it's close to the novel so I have no intent to ever read the real one.

The Lotr trilogy is the only films I have that I can watch over and over. I never get tired of watching them.
I hope the hobbit can do the same.

Hobbit Talks Happening?
Jackson, New Line reportedly trying to work things out.
by Stax

October 5, 2007 - Just months after New Line Cinema chief Robert Shaye said that he "would love for (director Peter Jackson) to be creatively involved in some way in The Hobbit" comes word that the studio and the Oscar-winning Lord of the Rings filmmaker are trying to mend fences in an effort to finally bring the J.R.R. Tolkien tale to the big-screen.

Entertainment Weekly reports that "there's reason to be cautiously optimistic" that the legal feud between Jackson and New Line may soon be resolved: "At this writing, no agreements have been announced and details of the negotiations are sketchy (neither New Line nor Jackson's camp would comment to EW on any aspect of this story), but sources close to the talks tell us that they're detecting a lot less frost in the air, and that a deal may be reached that could help usher J.R.R. Tolkien's maiden Middle-earth masterpiece to screens before the end of the decade."

A source for the magazine revealed there is a state of "detente" between the two sides even as they hash things out in court. But, as EW points out, even if Jackson and New Line agree to make the movie together the busy filmmaker may not have the time to direct it. One possible solution that's reportedly been suggested is to have Jackson exec produce The Hobbit, thus "letting him pick a proxy director and oversee the production."

one thing im worried about is that they will screw Gollum up in regards to the LOTR trilogy. since this takes place b4 LOTR, we shouldnt see Gollum other then in the shadows like in FOTR, because seeing him full on screws up the eventual reveal in TTT. this might not seem like a big deal since we already know what Gollum looks like, but im thinking for people who havent seen LOTR and future generations and stuff who want to watch the films in order

That's just something they're going to have to deal with. By the time future generations are around, Gollum will look outdated anyway.

Just like future generations are going to know that Vader is Luke's father if they watch the films in chronological order. And I'd say that's a much bigger surprise spoiled than what Gollum looks like.

Same, McKellen def needs to come back. Ian Holme though, I'm not too sure about.

The Hobbit will probably be most like Fellowship in terms of tone..so if you liked the contained feeling of fellowship..GREAT!!

I just want to journey to middle earth again:(.

Good considering I personally think Fellowship is one of the greatest movies of all time while the other two are just decent.

If they're going to move forward with the Hobbit they better do it soon and stop wasting time. McKellan and Holme aren't getting any younger.

I thought exactly the same thing especially with the extended footage. The other two were brilliant but never really had the feel of the first movie.

Just FYI guys, absolutely no script in a pre-strike Hollywood period has been written for the movie. That's according to the Hobbit cover story article in a recent issue of EW.

finally! and i thought the Ring got the better of them.

McKellen has to come back, its not like its strenuous work for him anyway, Gandalf disappears for a good part of the story (although i'm hoping they would feature the White Council meeting in the movie).

Ian Holmes is a different matter however. there is rarely a quiet moment for Bilbo in the entire story, i'm not sure if Holmes can keep up with what is demanded of the role.

yeah thats gonna be a problem. we'd be lucky to get this legal issue resolved by the end of the year. even without complications like the strike, i dont see a draft for this movie coming together until sometime late next year.

^Yeah, that could have been a two hour movie at the most. We didn't need all the extra padding before the island...at least they could have had some adventures on the voyage there.
