Peter jackson talks the hobbit !

Meh, Peter Jackson did his thing with the LoTR, now it's time for someone else to do there thing with the Hobbit, Peter JAckson is not the end all, be all of things, as long as they get some other talented film-maker, I'll be there the first day it comes out. People really over-rank Jackson, half of you posers, haven't seen any of his stuff other than Kong and LoTR?

I made a new thread for this. This thread was orriginally created for a different news item, so I thought the breaking news would get lost in the shuffle.

What are the odds of the cast returning w/o PJ? My guess is slim to none...

Eh, I'd rather have Peter Jackson on the project, but I'll wait to see who they get to replace him.

Also: What does this mean for the SFX? Will WETA still do them? I hope so, I'd be really bummed out if they didn't.

I have a vague memory of Ian McKellan saying he'd only reprise his role if Jackson returned... anyone else remember reading something like this?

Because if that's true... then really... seriously... they shouldn't make it. I can sort of imagine why they'd think they could do without the same director, but recasting Gandalf?
I remember that also. But McKellen did X3 too, so...

Can't wait. It'll be three hours, released on DVD once, then again as an extended cut, and if we're lucky like before, we'll get yet another extended super special edition!

hope! but hey if they don't get pj theres always brett ratner:yellow:

Ian Mckellen posts his thoughts

The LOTR fans are already expressing a sense of betrayal. On my own account, I am very sad as I should have relished re-visiting Middle Earth with Peter again as team-leader. It's hard to imagine any other director matching his achievement in Tolkien country. We will have to await developments but being an optimist I am hoping that New Line, MGM and Wingnut can settle outstanding problems so that the long expected "Hobbit" is filmed sooner rather than later.

Ian McKellen is the greatest :csad:.

I'd like Peter Jackson to have some kind of involvement on this film...even if he's not directing.

Whoever does it, if it's not PJ, they'd better make it look and feel in line with Pete's work, it has to fit.
