ia McAvoy even avalible for The Hobbit. I think they'll be shooting Wanted 2 during that time right?

No
Del Toro has said that The hobbit will start filimg MArch 2010.

Wanted begins preparation in July and the director is hoping to start shooting around late autumn/winter.

I think Pearlman won't be seen but do believe he would be great as the voice for Smaug thats why i think Ron won't be seen but heard. We know Ron Pearlman, Doug Jones and Luke Goss for Del Toro likes too work with so expect them in the movies somewhere.

Hopefully Freeman or McAvoy gets the role I find Tennant to be a terrible actor.

Harry Potter or Dr. Who as Bilbo? You gotta be kidding.

I just can't see Radcliff saying yes to it. I'm sure he has all the money in the world now; I would rather have him play in smaller dramas to showcase his talents.

I don't know Tennant's work at all, so I can't comment on him.

As for the other two... I guess I'd have to go with McAvoy. I can't believe that Radcliffe would want to take on another high-profile fantasy franchise after making 7 Harry Potter movies (8 if you consider that the last one will be split in two). And even if he did want to, I don't think the audience would be able to buy him in the role because we'd be sitting there thinking of Harry Potter.

Well he likely wouldn't look like Harry Potter but i agree need some better choice for talking about replacing Ian Holme

I also hope that whoever they cast, doesn't mind putting on a little weight for the role. Frodo was supposed to be a bit taller and thinner than the other Hobbits, but Bilbo should be a bit pudgy because when the story starts out, he's all about the Shire lifestyle.

totally agree, Macavoy, Freeman, or whoever should throw on a couple pounds. I really dont like how Daniell Radcliffe is one of the choices. He's so well known as Harry Potter that leading right into the hobbit just wouldnt work for me especially when the last harry potter flick comes out the same year as the hobbit does.

Radcliffe is far far too young for the role. Bilbo is suposed to be past his prime in the novel. I know they made Frodo alot younger in the films compared to the books, but Frodo's journey as a character could suit a younger actor, but Bilbo begins the book a lazy old Hobbit. In the Fellowship of the Ring Gandalf says "You haven't aged a day". Radcliffe is way too young for that line to work. Even McAvoy is a little too young. My favourite choices are still Martin Freeman and Michael Sheen.

As bad as Radcliffe might be for the role... at least they're not suggesting Rupert Grint.

I have been promising to assassinate girly boy Radcliffe for years. This is the shot in the arm I need.

Hey, he went on stage in Equus and showed his junk, his pole and tackle, his kibbles and bits...nothing more manly than that.

Wait...

Peter Jackson On Those Bilbo Rumours
Exclusive: No plans on casting yet

It's being rumoured here and here that the casting of Bilbo Baggins for The Hobbit may be announced at Comic-Con next week. Daniel Radcliffe, James McAvoy and David Tennant are all rumoured to be in the running for the role - but according to what Peter Jackson told us when we spoke to him recently, the fans shouldn't be holding their breath for a 'Con announcement.

"No, we won’t be announcing Bilbo for a little while," he said when we asked about a Comic-Con announcement. "We’re starting to think about casting, but we’re knee-deep in the script right now. And when we do go to actors, they’re probably going to ask to see a script, so we’re powering ahead with getting the first draft done.”

We also asked him what he's planning to do next after The Lovely Bones, but he's not yet sure. "I haven’t yet decided what I’ll be directing after that. At the moment we’re concentrating on writing a couple of little movies with Guillermo [Del Toro]. A couple of small films! (Laughs) And that’s going to take us another few months of writing to do.

Out of the frying pan into the fire?

The bottom line is that the Tolkien family claims that they’re owed $220m from New Line to cover back profit payments from the Lord of the Rings trilogy. The family heirs are suing New Line claiming breach of contract, and as part of the suit are asking to recover all further film rights to Tolkein’s work. If that somehow went through, The Hobbit film (as currently set up at new Line and MGM) would be toast.

In 1969, JRR Tolkien sold the film rights for 250,000 pounds and 7.5% of future profits. But the family says they haven’t been paid anything out of the trilogy’s $6b worldwide sales. The Guardian reports that New Line lawyers say the original contract terms are ambiguous; Tolkien family lawyer Bonnie Eskenazi says “Should the case go all the way to trial, we are confident that New Line will lose its rights to The Hobbit.”

This is lawsuit number three regarding New Line and undistributed profits from the trilogy. Peter Jackson reached an undisclosed settlement in 2007, and Saul Zaentz settled in 2005. Hollywood accounting is notoriously creative and self-serving, and New Line (which struggled before being folded into Warner Bros) has been more determined than most.

Looks like Warner or someone involved with production will just have to settle.

I wonder if they will show Sauron fleeing Dol Guldur. But I guess they don't have the rights to The Silmarillion though do they?
