Yep, I meant Sauron. That's the problem with LOTR- it's easy to tangle your Balins and Berens!
I see Dol Guldur being more like an evil version of the Mirkwood Elves' kingdom under the hill. It was meant to be disguised, after all. That isn't to say that it shouldn't have a superstructure; I can imagine a broken and overgrown ring of towers, thrusting out of the hill like fangs. But it shouldn't be as massive as Baradur, and I don't think the surroundings should be as bleak as Mordor. It should seem more "recently corrupted", with evil looking trees, fungi and swamps.
