Damnit this ****s gonna take forever. Im gonna be dead before these hobbit movies come out. I say Del Toro does Hellboy 3 and by the time thats over The Hobbit will finally be back on board.

Take this with a rumor for now , at least till we get word from more reliale sources. Marketsaw is looking forward to Hobbit development and they have been pretty accurate with their 3d reports.

EXCLUSIVE! THE HOBBIT Is Greenlit!!! Full Pre-production Underway And You Can Expect A S3D Experience!!!
YES! Finally. One of my top sources has confirmed with me that THE HOBBIT has now been greenlit!!

Full pre-production is now underway!!

There is still no official word that THE HOBBIT will be in stereoscopic 3D, but my source reiterates: "the usual 3D technical suspects have been rounded up... so I would bank on it."

I find it quite interesting that when other sites (*ahem* Deadline) mention the fact that the commence shoot date is slated for November, they think they are the ones breaking the news. You all know I broke that exclusive story back in March (with photos of the new sound stages). Sometimes you just want to reach out and... Well you know :-)

And don't even get me started on these sites talking THE HOBBIT in 3D as being a new concept!

So everyone - a collective sigh of relief: THE HOBBIT is definitely moving forward and November is the goal to roll cameras. Rest assured it will be in 3D just like I have been saying for years. I love it when a plan comes together!!

I am really crossing my fingers with both hands on this one.

Damn...

Guillermo Del Toro announced today that he is no longer directing the two movies based on J.R.R Tolkien’s “The Hobbit”, but will continue to co-write the screenplays. Out of respect to the legions of loyal Tolkien fans, both Guillermo and Peter Jackson wanted to break the news to The One Ring first. They are both committed to protecting The Hobbit and will do everything in their power to ensure the films are everything that the fans want them to be.

This just keeps getting worse and worse. This late in the game, I'm crossing my fingers that they may just let PJ direct them so that once MGM's problems are over with, they can get moving.

Not good news at all. God MGM let it go your screwed one way or another.

I am so furious that I took a five second drag from a whiskey bottle. Del Toro was THE director I wanted for these movies, and I am boiling with rage that MGM's utter incompetence just took that away.

The man uprooted his life for two years and busted his ass over this project, and this is what he gets to show for it. What a ****ing disgrace.

MGM, you can go promptly **** yourself. Enjoy the inevitable bankruptcy you sons of *****es.

No kidding. I can't imagine how it would feel to be in his shoes.

Sad but not surprising. The man has better uses for his considerable talents than waiting around for MGM to get its **** together

MGM will never get a cent from me ever again.

It's over. I have faith this will be brought to the screen, but Jackson pretty much gave him his blessing and was helping out.

As furious as I am, I agree with you. I honestly don't blame him one bit. Now he can work on his adaptations of "Frankenstein" and "At the Mountains of Madness."

The thing that just kills me is that Del Toro got it. Everything he said about the project had me grinning from ear to ear. Now some new director is going to come in and change everything that Del Toro and Weta spent two years working on. I was really looking forward to seeing a Del-Toro-inspired Smaug.

And consider Peter Jackson out, since he has other commitments.

This blows.

Ah Chewy that's not even funny man haha. Can you imagine if something like that happened oofta it wouldn't be good. It's a sad day to see him have to leave. I don't blame him one bit for doing it but it's just a real crappy situation he got into.

I will never forgive MGM for this. I hope the studio finally ends now. They deserve it after the troubles they have put The Hobbit, Bond and all their franchises through.

Horrible news but Del Toro is free and I am excited to see whatever he does next.

My interest continues to fade with each disheartening update. Hopefully things work out.

Peter Jackson seems to be very unlucky.

I hope the Hobbit doesn't turn out to be another dead project like Halo... :csad:

Del Toro's out? :csad: Unless Jackson steps in for him (incredibly unlikely), my interest is pretty non-existent.

"The Hobbit? Yeah, sure, I'll do your movie. I know all about The Hobbit -- I saw that cartoon when I was little! When's the start date? You don't know? That's OK, I'm still interested -- wait, do I get to live in Peter Jackson's house? Do they have great lobster there? Can I throw in some scantily-clad elves and couple of kung-fu medieval gangsters? Oh yeah, I need a soundtrack by Hans Zimmer featuring Kanye..."

I just had a nightmare vision of a Michael Bay version of The Hobbit.

Bay: "Yeah, I've read it. I think we get can to a decent battle in the Misty Mountains pretty quick. Gandalf should be able to unleash Hell in there, but really I want to get to the Battle of Five Armies and ramp it up a whole lot. Y'know, maybe add a little spark to The Ring so that Bilbo can make stuff go..."
BOOM!

Bay's already hard at work sodomizing the Ninja Turtles. Hopefully he's not a good multi-tasker.
