I forget the context, but he reaches out to grab a guard and his arm turns into an enormous ice-hand. He and, ... I wanna say Colossus, ... were both really shocked about it, since it was a nod to his Omega level status in 616.

Yes but if you remember Ultimate War it was shown then. I think there is a opic in the X-World section I'll check and pate the link.

After re-reading the first cable issue again last night, and seeing the comment to jean of "sorry, jean-- you'll be out just long enough for me to finish the job. You're not going to understand... but this has to be done."

Plus Cyclops giving her the gift in the beginning that she just puts away.... Add to the fact that Cable is clearly after Xavier... I get the odd feeling that we can expect to see Cyclops sacrifice himself to save xavier.

I don't remember off hand how many parts there are to the cable arc, but it really seems more or less like that's just how it's going to turn out from everything that's been set up in the first arc and just how the characters work.

Plus the emotional part that's supposed to get everyone will probably be whatever the gift was that jean will get after cyclops is gone.

Bah, I hate it when they kill off my favorite character in everything.



last minute edit: what if the person that dies is Jean. No one has mentioned it, and I'll agree that it's the LEAST probable one, but we've seen her jump back to save the day before. What if the Phoenix overloads the dampener that Cable used and then she winds up dying or something.. yeah, very improbable... but, I still think the money is on cyke going out trying to save xavier.

Cable arc is 4 parts. And its not possible for Jean to die. Shes on the cover of 79. Crying, nonetheless.

omg I forgot about the gift, maybe like you said Cyke will sacrifice himself to save Pro.X and the last scene of the arc could show a heartbroken Jean slowly open the gift and find that it was a wedding ring and a note saying "will you marry me?".

Yeah, you basically read my mind with the whole ring and "will you marry me" thing. So right about now I think it's pretty damn clear as to which of the characters is going to die this time around.

I still think it sucks

Edit: Ok, just happened on a complete rundown of the next issue. Not sure if reading it would matter at this point or not when it comes out. I know people don't like to be spoiled so I'll just use the spoiler tags to let out the very little that i'm willing to...

Yeah, after reading that, i'm more certain that ever that Cyclops is the one to die. Some more expansion on the situation of what's going on, but the whole thing really gave me a feel that that nice little build up that we see is what's supposed to give the emotional feel. So the odds now seem to be about 2:1 that Cyclops dies.

See I am happy about the outcome, but I agree with the second part,

it does make him seem sissy and well a weak leader Scott Summers would not do that, he would let it live on like X would want it to be and not close the X-men

Cyclops and Jean would make a good couple of headmasters. Or maybe it's Emma Frost who comes back from the Academy of Tomorrow with her students to be the headmistress. I'd like to see Polaris and Cannonball in the team.

yeah, that would be a nice shakeup. i think a lot of people want to see more of that team. i just hope they don't bring any scott/emma into ultimate. i love them in 616, but it'd just be bad news here.

Well, even though I don't like Scott/Emma and I love Emma, it's always great to see Jean kicking Emma's ass lol, so bring Emma in!
