:whatever: :whatever: ...if you forgot Kurt came from Millar's cynical Weapon X project where he was force to be an assassin....so Kurt going insane is not mediocre writing at all...far from it....

So... what? 60-something issues later, or something like that... the Weapon X arc was 7-12, right? Oh, fine, I'll say 50-something just to be safe.
So, what, 50-something issues later, Kurt, who has displayed NO psychological problems at all in any of those 50-something issues later, but indeed was depended on by Xavier, the world's strongest telepath who would, assumedly, have checked the Weapon X-ers to make sure there was no long-term lasting psychoses or other psychological damage... he just goes, suddenly, blatantly, batcrap crazy?

You're right. "Kurt going insane is not mediocre writing at all...far from it...." It rates far from mediocre - far below mediocre.

If Kirkman wanted to turn Nightcrawler crazy, hints should have been dropped in previous issues of his. I mean hints other than making Nightcrawler a blatant flaming homophobe, of course. There weren't any. It seems like Kirkman just picked a random idea out of the air and threw an Annual together. ... Which is probably how he does some of these arcs, too.

This book is not half as bad as people make it out to be.....not worth buying...even being the only X-book out this week...turning Cyclops into a sucker for love is......:down....Jean/Scott in the ultimate universe seemed so forced....it been written so wrong since the beginning......I skipped the part with Pyro.....but Scott was written great at the successor of the school.....him sitting at the headmaster desk...looked so 616......everybody drawn has too much wrinkles all over the faces ....but I enjoyed this random X issue
.I knew X wasn't dead...now...and cable gets his 616 all metal arm........can't wait for Kurt to kick ass!!!
OMG
I had a feeling he wasn't dead either. I need to get this issue.

I meant to mention that since getting the second annual. Scott even mentioned how that time in Weapon X had scared him.

I haven't read the recent issue so this may be completely debunked now but...I found 3 pretty interesting Shadow King theories over at an Ultimate Message board:

1. The Shadow King was reawakened by the entrance of such a powerful telepath(Xavier's death) into the astral plane. Here he may send Xavier into Beasts corpse body.

2. The Shadow King attacked Kurt while he was in his coma; hence the craziness.

3. The Shadow King might be a dark, evil portion of Xavier's soul; left on the astral plane.

I actually had to do work at work this morning, so I haven't had time to read the latest issue yet.

Those theories are interesting......I like #2 the best!

HINTS HAVE BEEN THERE!!!....REMEMBER HIM BEING PREJUDICE TO COLOSSUS ATER FINDING OUT HE WAS GAY???HIS OBESSION OVER DAZZLER???...DAZZLER LASHING OUT AT HIM FOR WHAT HE DID TO HER......HIM ATTACKING THE X-MEN.......ROGUE CONDEMNING HIM FOR HIS MEMORIES AT WEAPON X AFTER SHE ABSORBED THEM...THE ANNUAL??.....WHAT MORE DO YOU NEED....THATS ENOUGH TO DRIVE ANYONE OUT OF THE INSTITUTE......THE ANNUAL TAKES EVERYTHING BACK TO WHEN HE WAS IN WEAPON X...WRITERS DO GO BACK TO PICK STORIES.....EVEN MORE THAN A 100 ISSUES OLD......IT HAS BEEN DONE MANY TIMES IN COMICS

CYCLOPS TURNED EVIL IN THE FIRST ARC AND HAD ZERO BUILD UP....SO WHY WOULD THIS BE NEW???...AND WHEN NIGHTCRAWLER TURNS EVIL ITS BAD WRITING?....I THINK THIS IS MORE WELL WRITTEN THAN CYCLOPS TURNING EVIL.....YOU MIGHT BEG TO DIFFER

Okay, I just picked up #80. And the writing has improved A LOT. But, as usual, their were still a few flaws in it:

Logan:
First off, Logan up and leaving like that...whats was that about?! That was one of the most disrespectful and childish things some one could do. Especially after Xavier welcomed that dirty beast in his house. I was extremly pissed at that. "It was fun while it lasted, chuck."....give me a break :whatever:

Jean:
Out of them all (with the exception of a few others), Jean was pretty upset. I just didn't like how she (or anyone else for that matter) didn't mention Kurt's disappearance. And when she was speaking to Scott, whats was with the mind talking to eachother???...weird. Other than that, she seemed pretty regular (as in reacting at how I thought she would about the entire situation.

Storm:
:whatever: :whatever: :whatever:

Scott:
Disbanding the X-men.......reaaaaaaallllllll smooth visor boy. Again, a sense of disrespect. He's just making things wayy more worse than it is. I like how Xavier left Him, Jean, and Storm to take care of the school (keeping the 616 "feel"), least Storm is worth SOMETHING-also, they met up with Lilandra, which she insists on helping out. Anyway, besides his face looking like a smushed pumpkin through the book, he was very careful about things. Oh eah, and he flat out comes and say that Xavier's dream was WRONG.

Iceman:
Pretty interesting, again, keeping that 616 vibe. Bobby's playing his X-box 360 (:p) with Rogue and Bishop watching. Bishop, showing throughout the entire book that he cares for the kids, lectures Bobby about his powers. He says that Bobby can create ice, and that he can slow down the water molecules as well. But what ELSE can he slow down? He says that their are lot's of possibilites, but of course, dork head wasn't listening and cracks a joke about Bishop giving him something ("something" as in, I can't remember) then he'll start listening. Thats about it for him. But I do think that we'll see more of Iceman in the future.

Crazy boy, I mean, nightcrawler/Pyro :woot:
It was basically what we saw in the preview art, except with words. Pyro shouts out "Xaver lives on!", then a while later Kurt exclaims that Xavier should not be defended. As he tried to practice manipulation. The conversation then leads to Pyro saying that he came from the Morlocks and wants t be an X-men. Kurts reply is "Morlock?", to which Pyro explains what they are....... Oh yeah I almost forgot, whats with him CREATIGN fire, when he MANIPULATES it? And why does he look like his enitre body is flesh???

Bishop:
He's pretty calm and helpful in this issue, trying to keep things together. He visits a jail house and talks to someone, which I think is actually him as a teenager because he is black with braids and when Bishop leaves, he replies "And don't even think about uaing your powers". So...yeah.

great synopsis- best reaction to a storm storyline ever- did anything else need to be said:woot:
Again rogue is wasted- i thought now she has her powers back he would really work with that but no...if he was going to do nothing with it why give her them back anyway- just let her and bobby get it on upstairs:oldrazz: :woot:

^ROFL Thanks. And about the Nightcrawler one, I meant to say he said
Xavier SHOULDN'T be defended

I think I was the last person to read the issue so....I assume we can stop talking in spoilers.(Pickles will read it tonight) Thanks guys :D

Awesome issue. They're definately setting Bishop up to have some sort of team. The only problem is; doesn't this add more cramming for just one book. You're gonna have: Scott's school, Emma's school, and Bishop's team. So we need 3 Ultimate X-books now :o

I totally called Xavier being alive and well, should be interesting to see what happens in the future. Iceman's immaturity in this issue kinda annoyed me. I get that he's like 16 but if I had superpowers even at that age, I'd be soo excited if somebody was willing to help me fine tune them. He just wants to play 360

P.S. My avatar and location make more sense now :p. Not sure how I feel abot that cuz now Colossus won't be written as much. Then again, Idk what this title is gonna be about next month.

Oh yeah, I meant to comment on you avatar, it's nice :woot: Anyway, I agree with EVERYTHING you said. The cramming in this book is rediculous. Bad enough we got a weird Pyro (IMO), now we have this other stuff going on. And Iceman is being repeated in every alternate universe, I get that he's immature, but it is soooooooooooooo annoying! I seriously wanted to punch him because he was getting on my nerves. And Ororo pretty much upsetted me, which isn't a surprise. She isn't Logans *****. And why does she have such low confidence about being apart of Scott and Jeans trust over the mansion? I'm sooo getting ready to drop this book.

Well this issue shook things up and I'm excited for the future once again so I won't stop reading aytime soon. The book is just running out of space lol. I like weird Pyro actually, he just wants to be an X-Man....quite like the Magician.

Yeah the "twists" are what really keeping me on, hopefully Ororo get's some time (as she once had) so I won't drop the book. But I give the issue a 8 in a half/10

Maybe that's the problem, he actually has powers, we don't.

Wow, um... Simmer down there, skippy? Take your finger off the shift button, and don't hit the "Submit Reply" button so many times, for starters.

If you read what you quoted from my post, you'd have seen that I touched upon Kurt being written as a sudden and overt homophobe. You did not need to restate that in your own words. And by the by, I don't see how that's foreshadowing that Kurt is crazy from Weapon X. Far as I'm concerned, it's bad characterization on the part of the writer, as it comes from nowhere.

As for the other pieces of "evidence" you stated... Well, by all means, correct me if I'm wrong - I'm too lazy to bother searching through the comics I've read, to find the previous issues of UXM I own, much less Annual#2, but aren't all the things you listed -from- the Annual? Well, other than the obsession over Dazzler, and that's more realistic characterization than his homophobic tendencies or his suddenly-batcrap-craziness. If I recall correctly, when Vaughan was writing Angel and Dazzler as getting together, Kurt was wanting to get with Dazzler as well. Him watching over her while she's in a coma isn't so mysterious or crazy.

As for Cyclops, well, I'll certainly not beg. Cyclops did not turn evil. Cyclops faked a betrayal to get in with the enemy for the express purpose of playing mole and learning what Magneto's plans were. I thought that was pretty evident, actually. Not to say it was phenomenally written, but pretty evident.

Caps Lock was on and the computer at my school had bad keyboard....I don't see that as bad characterization....I think its fleshing out the character pretty well and is sticking to his origins...where his mind was screwed up in weapon X....It didn't come from no where..........Kurt's behavior is well evident...Millar started it Kurt out this way in the first place......all the piece's are there for Kurt's new behavior..and Kirkman will elaborate more on in the coming arc....you might not like it, but its there anyway......

I can see you are able to elaborate and interpret this rather vague evidence for Cyclops running to the brother hood and can't seem to grasp why Nightcrawler's recent behavior would make him turn to the Morlocks....but whateva....I'm enjoying..even though I never liked this book to begin with:yay:

Millar didn't write Kurt as crazy at all. In his introduction, he was a desperate kid trying to shoot his way out of his personal hell. When Jean entered his mind in Weapon X, she didn't seem to see anything wrong at all. Then he tried to prevent Storm killing his torturer, because he didn't want Storm to "turn into a monster", too. This attitude was revisited in the scene with him and a grieving Storm on the roof. On the X-men's first Weapon X mission, he shows compassion and concern for Cyclops when he's being tortured. When he sits locked up with Xavier in the SHIELD facility, he is beating himself up over the fact that people got captured because of him.

I can't fit that behavior in with the guy in the second annual and afterwards. I could buy the homophobia, even like it as a plot point, but the full-out "monster" thing? Which he somehow managed to keep from the world's greatest telepath and his protege all this time? It's a square peg in a round hole.
