I remember people jumping on my head back when I criticized Fraction for Sisterhood. Now everybody seems to be doing it.

To feature all of the current characters, we'd really only need to relaunch Young/New X-Men, make Astonishing and Uncanny feature different characters, turn Legacy back into a team book, and probably launch a Starjammers comic or just bring Havok's team back to Earth. Oh, and a Generation X reunion.

Seven! Rainbow teams! I'm reserving the color of blue for Scott!

What? I love the color of blue, it's my favorite!

I demand a lot from my X-writers. I read X-men from the days when Claremont made the book the top comic month in and month out. You have to know the characters history. With all these websites there should be no reason why someone doesnt know a character's history. The other thing is you have to know whats right for the characters. Fundamentally it may be cool that their are only 200 mutants and Scott is forming an army but is that whats right for the characters. The purpose of the X-men has shifted drasticly now. The X-men's mission was to protect humanity from evil mutants and protect mutants from humanity. They dreamed about a peaceful existance..they were about hope...now they are preparing for war.

I was right there with you. I didnt mind his X-Men early on but the horrible conclusion to that story quickly changed my opinion. Its gotten progressively worse since

Me to the thing is utopia was great and then came the first part of nation x preety good same thing for the second part and then came the crap that was uncanny x-men #517

I think Fraction's slacking on X-Men, because of all the other stuff he's writing. The majority of it being better than his X-Men work too. In my opinion, both he and Carey need to be let go of the X Books. They do decent, but medicore work and it's time for some fresh blood on the Uncanny and Legacy.

Generation X Annual #3 - 1997

In the first issue of adjectiveless X-Men, Psylocke thinks to herself "I could more easily do this telepathically, from a distance, but I like the thrill of physical combat. Like it, I crave it. How does Wolverine call it.. am I an Action Junkie? Something to watch out for. It's a temptation a foe could learn to use against me."

I know, but it always came across as a silly excuse to draw more standard fight scenes and of course give her opportunities to show off her ass. Kind of like Power Girl's recent explanation for her choice in costumes.

If you're an action junkie there are safer ways to satisfy your urges, at the very least it's something you could take care of on your own (solo missions like Wolverine perhaps if bungee jumping does not cut it) instead of risking the mission and your team mates by taking unnecessary risks.

The solution (other than making the character look stupid or eagerly striving to win the next Darwin award) if you want to keep the ninja shtick is of course low-level TP/TK that mostly works within close range.

Ninjas are for intelligence gathering and infiltrating, samurai are for wars and battles.

The west has fantasized ninjas in the wrong direction.

Yeah, I think I discovered in the past decade (when I went through my anime and Japanese culture obsession phase) that a ninja is more likely to run from a fight than engage in direct battle. I haven't been able to look at most of my favorite fictional ninjas the same since.

Retro-fandom works on a 2-decade cycle. New Mutants came back 2 decades after their heyday, and Gen X will be back in the year 201X. Soon everyone will want them to come back.

well when Betsy first became Lady Mandarin it was to be the Hand's top assassin, so calling her a ninja then made sense. calling her a ninja now is just a convient label to put on her since shes a quick and agile fighter, and distinguishes her from the telepathy-dominant, pre-Perilous, british Betsy running around in protective body armor in the 80s.

you have to remember that she had Kwannon's influence in her as well and Kwannon didnt have the long range abilities to the same extent Psylocke did. After the body transformation, she ahd her mind and personality altered so her craving the physical combat suited her new persona. You are right in that it is safer. She learned that when she got her azz handed to her by Sabretooth. If only she had tried to take him down telepathically from a distance at first, she would have seen that he was immmune to TP and could have gotten back up. Instead she went straight for a hand to hand fight and we all saw the results of that

New Mutants never really went away. They morphed right into X-force and were a team up until earlier this decade. In the meantime, the classic New Mutants have had several reunions in the pages of X-force, their 1997 mini, X-men Unlimited and New Mutants v2. The team that formed X-force reunited a few years back in a mini. Marvel for the most part kept them relevant. Not so much for Gen X. After they disbanded, all we got was a brief reunion in X-corporation and that was pretty much it

i agree that Sisterhood didn't turn on like i hoped...matter of fact it sucked. but that being said, and like ive said many times, im happy with Fractions writing and satisfied with the title as it is- at least 85-90%. i do wish they would condense the team and allow time to breathe so we can get into the heads of everyone on the island, but this feels like the first time the X-Men have been in a completely new situation since the end of OZT so i can see that Fraction really wants to build this new world for the mutant community.

and this week's issues was great because he did just that and we got a great scene between Hank and Bobby.

Well, the weight of every ninja needed to be below 60 kg according to the records in order to perform the stealth and agility their jobs recuired, that puts them in a disadvantage in close combats.

Besides, female ninjas ranked very low on their social hierarchy...they were generally just for procreation, so everytime I saw a female ninja I just roll my eyes and think "Not again."

colossal know not what he speaks. Gen X was awesome.

da hell is 'the void' and is it some STD that emma gave to Scott?
