Comics Official X-Men Forever Thread

*gasp* You don't like the Original 5? What kind of X-Men fan are you? I bet you're one of those lot who hates Archangel unless he has metal wings, and has no problem with Iceman being sidelined over the past couple of years.

I like the originals but I think they should play a more prominent role in the books

again i dont see the problem. He created the character. If Bob Kane was still alive and returned to write Batman and decided he he was never supposed to be the master of preptime and did away with it would you be upset???

Byrne created Rachel, not CC.

And here I thought I was the only one that found the O5 boring...

I'm gonna go head and predict this'll be cancelled before issue #20.

If this series is a sales failure, it will most likely be canceled no earlier then issue 18 and no later then issue 24.

I think it was both Byrne and Claremont. They were a team at the time.

According to Byrne, Rachel's look and who she was all came from him. Byrne also created Kitty Pryde. On the flip side, Byrne said Sabretooth (the same is also true about Gambit) was largely created by CC and that Arcade was all CC's creation.

I suspect that it is gonna last a bit longer than that. If Claremont plays his cards right, I could see this title being a successful AU a la Ultimate X-men (of course, I don't really like Ultimate X-men anymore).
Eh, I doubt it. He's not good enough of a writer to sustain a series for long anymore.

Sabretooth was created as a villain for Iron Fist

Im currently rereading the original xfactor and I find them far from boring.

Which is fine.

It's just that the O5 really aren't my cup of tea, particularly together. I can handle 1-2 at a time in a team book, but when they're all together (or even worse, solo), I can't read it.

well I think they are being missused right now anyway...Jean is dead, Scott is a prick, Bobby is in the background and Hank is stuck in the lab

See I like those three like that... :woot:

They're just not my thing. I understand a lot of folks feel differently.

That same argument could be made about most writers currently working in the industry today. The success of most top books today are due more to stunts/gimmicks then the writers.

Eh. Absolutely untrue. Gimmicks annoy me. And most comic book fans don't look for gimmicks they look for a story that compels them. X-Men Forever doesn't look to be one of those deals.

Thats the problem... "most comic book fans don't look for gimmicks" but most comic buyers it seems actually do.. which is why Marvel swarms gimmick after gimmick on the poor unexpecting fans.

Btw... X-Men forever ISN'T a gimmick?

Oh, it's by far a gimmick. Like you said not much that's done nowadays isn't one.

And well, comic book buyers and comic book fans are pretty much the same group. It's not exactly a market that's divide. Fans just buy what Marvel/DC gives them irregardless majority of the time. It's that or be out of the loop on your favorite characters/universe.

As a fan, I have no other choice than buying what Marvel produces or completely lose my favorite character.

Not much of a choice there though.

I was just thinking that comic book buyers tend to go where their favorite characters go, regardless of story quality. That's why Bendis' New Avengers sells so well, but nobody ever bothered picking up Captain Britain & MI-13. New Avengers has Spider-Man and Wolverine. MI-13 featured... Blade.

I admit I'm one of those. Don't have enough money to buy all of the related titles and enough time for them.

yeah well every major thing happening to the Marvel univese starts in NA

Which is the only reason I continue to pick up Bendis's Avengers titles, that and I'm a fan of a majority of his New Avengers Roster/

To use an X-Men example, I only pick up Black Panther because Storm is in it.
