Yes but X-men 2 where Gambit tried to touch Rogue was included in the Forever Alpha that directly predates this new series. Gambit would have known he couldn't touch her from that.
I dont remember the scene i'll have to go back and look at it
And if Gambit was one to have aliases, why even name him at all in the beginning of this? They could have just left him simply as Gambit. A book shouldn't open with a direct question lke that, it should just be left as a mystery to be explained later. Best not to confuse the audience before the curtain has even gone up.
or maybe that was to signal that this isnt the same Xmen that you are reading in Uncanny or Astonishing. I dont have an issue with it as I liked Gambit until the whole Thieves Guild origin. There just seemed to be something more to him.
Oh and yeah, Gambit and Wolverine could actually make or break this book. Just ask anyone -- besides Deadpool fans - just who they went to see the Wolverine Origins movie for? CC had best be careful just how far off the path he treads....
the books are different from the movies....infact Wolverine was a crappy movie.Wolverine appears in every marvel book and it looks like he wont be in this one. Gambit will be on the team in this one without the melodrama between him and Rogue
Been a while since I read that far back. But I think you may be right.
