Oh, No! The Warriors being remade... by MTV!

but why the remake, when we already have one we can watch?

People said the same thing about JC's The Thing, and that was 200x times better than the first.

I'm not saying the remake is justifiable, I'm just saying that at least they have a competent director and it might actually be really good.

Because the one we can watch is severely dated. Since the dawn of man stories have been told and retold, changing with each generation.

allright i have known they were gonna make a remake for quite sometime and i was pissed at first but i will wait and see it before i put my opinion on it
but anyway what about casting who do u guys think should be casted in the updated roles

syrus- the rock ( who didnt see a little rock in syrus i though he screamed rock)

swan- thomas jane ( he has sorta that stone cold face that swan had)

the orphans- the strokes ( they look ratty and homeless and not to much acting is required

cowboy- will friedel

rembrant- Khleo Thomas

mercy- mila kunis

thats all i got for now

Well, MTV aside, the people helming it are pretty good at their craft...so who knows, it could be something great.

This is true, but the difference here is, JC's The Thing was made in the 80's a time when directors didn't shy away from an X rated certificate for a movie audience. Now a days filmmakers want to make the big bucks so they require more bums on seats.

A Thing film made now would be targeted for the widest audience possible, probably a younger audience with a PG 13 rating at best.

Severly dated!!!! Then you'd better remake every film ever made and release them every other decade then.

My original point being.....I am cynical about a new Warriors film considering the way they dumb films down these days, and cater for younger audiences. Not always a good sign when remaking classics, that had an adult or gritty viceral theme to them.

By the way what happened to the art of making original films? What's the matter? People can't come up with new ideas anymore? Or aren't they educated enough to be aware that other works of fiction or fact are out there, and haven't been given the big screen treatment yet?

There is nothing new under the sun...you must know this...Originality????? No matter what idea you may have, some one else has already had it.

Worst case scenario: The Warriors remake will be directed by M. Night Shamalyan, and the twist at the end will involve the Warriors breaking down the sets and frolicking in the backlot studios of Universal Studios, just like in Blazing Saddles.

Of course, new ideas are usually old ideas with a new spin put on them, however you have to agree not every classic story has been filmed, and there is always a true story to be told.

Again my point being..... there is a wealth of stuff out there that can be put on film rather than resorting to remaking the same stuff that has already hit celluloid previously.

PISS ON YOU I WORK FOR MEL BROOKS:D

As long as they keep that

"Warriors come out and Playeyyyyayyy!" line, I'm all for it.

It's Just Gonna Be Another Vehicle For Some Young Hollywood Pretty Boys To Get Some Face Time Which Is Sad Because The Fact That They Used Unknowns In The Original Was Cool.

yet another INO product coming out from hollywood morons who think they can outdo the original...

If Tony Scott's directing, this should be pretty damn good.

The man knows his bad-ass action.

Tony Scott is Directing the remake you can't go wrong with Tony.

I haven't seen the original, but I have faith in Tony Scott, who can do some badass flicks. :D

yes you can, doppelganger. just look at Domino.

The issue for me, is that normally remakes don't offer anything new.

Charlie and THe Chocolate Factory. NOTHING. The Fog. NOTHING.

I can go and on. The Warriors is a cult classic: It's 70s look gave it it's style and it preserved an era that can never be re-captured again (legitlly, not fashion-wise).

A few things...

1) I love the old film.

2) I think remaking it is silly for a number of reasons...

- Its a cult film. Cult films should never be remade (I dont caare how many people think they are good)

-'The Warriors' is very much a product of its time. To update it and put it in a modern setting would ruin the whole feel of the film.

3) I will peobably go see it anyway :(

4) They will probably cast Justin Timberlake and Bow Wow. :(

5) They will use a modern sounndtrack that will destroy the tension build up that the old score did so well. Plus it will date this one badly.

6) No one will be able to pull of the line 'Warriors... Come out to playyyy' right. :(

7) No one will say 'Jive Sucka' or 'Can you dig?!':(

Well I am scared I really loved the original and hope they try to stay true just updating the script to modern times.
We shall see....

Exactly. I've always said that the 70s was teh best decade in films because they were original and ballsy. Clockwork Orange. Taxi Driver. The Warriors.

And those movies from the 70s had an impact on the films today. Why ruin history?
