Oh, No! The Warriors being remade... by MTV!

Dont Get Me Wrong I Like Tony Scott, But The Warriors Was Great Because Of Everything That Made It What It Was. People Liked The Characters And All That. Now Even If This Movie Turns Out Half Way Decent It Wont Have Any Of The Characters Except Cyrus It's Basically Not Even The Warriors It's Just A Modern Day Retelling Of A Similiar Story On The Other Side Of The Country......i Mean Really The Next Thing Theyll Announce Is That There Will Be No Gang Called The Warriors Even In The Film Just That, The Film Is Called The Warriors. How Many More Artistic Liberties Is Hollywood Going To Take With The Films We Once Loved.

Why do you write like that, Watchman? It's very distracting.

Yep  and its reasons like these I fear a remake.

If it's in LA, they can start out in Downtown, make their way through Hollywood, then Beverly Hills and then..................have a showdown at the Santa Monica Pier, which has a similar look to Coney Island.

But still.......remaking it will be bad :(

let me put it this way... a Warriors remake COULD be cool (mostly because the original is so damn good), but not with Tony Scott and CERTAINLY not with MTV. it should be a small movie. those two don't do "small"...

Exactly. I've always said that the 70s was teh best decade in films because they were original and ballsy. Clockwork Orange. Taxi Driver. The Warriors.

And those movies from the 70s had an impact on the films today. Why ruin history?

Absolutely! especially since the MASS majority of MTV movies suck a$$! ..."Let's forgo any story or character substance and replace it with 'popular music' and outlandish sex jokes. That'll be relevant and enjoyable for our core teen audience!"

MTV productions can bl@# me!

Let's not forgot what it looked like the last time a great action director took on a nostalgic futuristic remake...John McTiernan (Predator/DieHard) with Rollerball. If that wasn't the worst movie I've even seen then it's dang near the bottom!

The original Warriors is too dated for me and I have trouble watching it. And I love watching old films. I would love to see a remake, especially if Tony Scott is directing and the writer of the Sopranos is writing.

The original Warriors is really cheesy and really dated. While I do like the film(it's a lot of fun), it's not really as good a film as some of you are making it out to be. A remake sounds like a good idea to me. And, for ****'s sake, it's Tony Scott directing. TONY SCOTT!!!

Tony Scott could indeed make this become an amazing movie.

yes you can, doppelganger. just look at Domino.

I agree. I wanted to PUNCH Tony Scott after I saw "Domino". The story for that film wasn't THAT bad, but all the annoying editing crap and the style that he brought to that movie made it damn near unwatchable. As it stands, that's on my list as the WORST movie of 2005 that I saw. :down

As for "The Warriors" being remade, Hollywood sucks and needs to get some new ideas.

My original point being.....I am cynical about a new Warriors film considering the way they dumb films down these days, and cater for younger audiences. Not always a good sign when remaking classics, that had an adult or gritty viceral theme to them.

Point out to me one Tony Scott film that was "dumbed down" and "catered to a younger audience."

"Domino" was specifically shot and cut to be "hip and stylish", and the script wasn't nearly as smart as some of his previous efforts like "True Romance" or "Enemy Of The State". And, it was marketed hard to the MTV crowd to boot. A lot of folks would say similar things about some of his other films like "Days Of Thunder" and "The Last Boyscout".

I SERIOUSLY doubt that a remake will capture what made the original so great and fun. The original was made to have a comic book feel and I have a feeling that for the remake it would just be gangsta style. But I will reserve a little space for the trailer to win me over. Like jaguarr said it will mostly likely be catered to the MTV crowd which pretty much spells disaster IMO.

this isn't about how good tony scott is as a director, really as much as it is

about how the movie will be completely stripped of the things that made it

likeable. again yes it may be a great movie, but it won't be the warriors.

and well i guess for anyone who isn't that familiar with the original it won't

make a difference either way. we will have a new generation of fans who will

have grown up only knowing this new version (that is if this movie turns out

to live up to the hype)

The perfect song for this movie:

Your butt is mine
Gonna take you right
Just show your face
In broad daylight
I'm telling you
On how I feel
Gonna hurt your mind
Don't shoot to kill
Come on, come on,
Lay it on me all right...

I'm giving you
On count of three
To show your stuff
Or let it be . . .
I'm telling you
Just watch your mouth
I know your game
What you're about

Well they say the sky's
The limit
And to me that's really true
But my friend you have
Seen nothing
Just wait 'til I get through . . .

Because I'm bad, I'm bad-
Come on
(Bad bad-really, really bad)
You know I'm bad, I'm bad-
You know it
(Bad bad-really, really bad)
You know I'm bad, I'm bad-
Come on, you know
(Bad bad-really, really bad)
And the whole world has to
Answer right now
Just to tell you once again,
Who's bad . . .

The word is out
You're doin' wrong
Gonna lock you up
Before too long,
Your lyin' eyes
Gonna take you right
So listen up
Don't make a fight,
Your talk is cheap
You're not a man
You're throwin' stones
To hide your hands

But they say the sky's
The limit
And to me that's really true
And my friends you have
Seen nothin'
Just wait 'til I get through . . .

Because I'm bad, I'm bad-
Come on
(Bad bad-really, really bad)
You know I'm bad, I'm bad-
You know it
(Bad bad-really, really bad)
You know I'm bad, I'm bad-
You know it, you know
(Bad bad-really, really bad)
And the whole world has to
Answer right now
(And the whole world has to
Answer right now)
Just to tell you once again,
(Just to tell you once again)
Who's bad . . .

We can change the world
Tomorrow
This could be a better place
If you don't like what I'm
Sayin'
Then won't you slap my
Face . . .

Because I'm bad, I'm bad-
Come on
(Bad bad-really, really bad)
You know I'm bad, I'm bad-
You know it
(Bad bad-really, really bad)
You know I'm bad, I'm bad-
You know it, you know
(Bad bad-really, really bad)

Woo! Woo! Woo!
(And the whole world has

Just to tell you once
Again . . .)
You know I'm bad, I'm bad-
Come on

And the whole world has to
Answer right now

Answer right now)
Just to tell you

You know I'm smooth, I'm
Bad, you know it
(Bad bad-really, really bad)
You know I'm bad, I'm
Bad baby
(Bad bad-really, really bad)
You know, you know, you
Know it, come on

You know I'm bad, I'm bad-
You know it

You know I'm bad-you
Know-hoo!

That's what I thought about "I'm Batman!"

And, Domino was awesome.

The issue for me, is that normally remakes don't offer anything new.

Charlie and THe Chocolate Factory. NOTHING. The Fog. NOTHING.

I can go and on. The Warriors is a cult classic: It's 70s look gave it it's style and it preserved an era that can never be re-captured again (legitlly, not fashion-wise).
LoL. Right.

Charlie and the Chococlate Factory did offer something new. It was a totally different movie than the original one. So I'm not sure what Octoberist is saying.
