It would have been nicer to see him alive to be inducted rather than posthumously. Randy was a unique person, and probably my favorite wrestler right behind Hulk and Andre. Flamboyant doesn't begin to describe his style, but it's a step in the right direction.
I remember being pleasantly surprised to see him in Spider-man as the wrestler Bonesaw. Made the bit role all his own, just like everything he did.

This is a sad, sad day. I know he is decked out in all white sequins and fringe with a cowboy hat on, stepping through the Pearly Gates only pausing long enough to say "OOOOH YEEEAH!" like only he can do. RIP Randy.

What is especially sad is that the larger majority of today's wrestling 'fans' probably have no clue who he is. :down

Then they have no business watching wrestling, in my opinion. The product you see today wouldn't be a fraction as good if Randy had never stepped into the ring. Cutting promos became an art form after he started doing it.

A very sad day, another part of my childhood is gone.

RIP Randy

I first heard from my brother and was taken aback, but then when I got to work and saw thew news with clips on tv I got teary eyed. Also I just bought a bunch of slim jims

While it is sad, to be fair those people that don't know who he was, are mostly children. So I can't fault them and say that they shouldn't be able to watch.

I starting watching during the attitude era so when I first saw this video it made me sad for all the things that I must have missed.

But I think the adults who don't know someone like Savage are casuals or newer fans and the main reason for them not trying to keep up with the past is cause they see it as old news and figure the current stuff is the most important/better&cooler days of it's history!!(I know a few who think like that)

I think the Jake Roberts/Randy Savage fued was one of the best in WWE history. That feud is also what led to the Jake Roberts/Undertaker fued.

that's a bit harsh...

I still don't see how that warrants them not being able to watch. Can you tell me how many Lou Thesz matches you've watched? Can you tell me a little bit about Jinsei Shinzaki?

I think though, that Randy is one of the few wrestlers who are more well known through the ages. He had a character that stood out from the crowd, and he branched out into other things like tv, movies, and all his slim jim commercials are enough for even the youngsters of today to know who he is.

good point....some people just don't take it that seriously...its a nice little diversion on Monday or Friday nights, but not worth the "research", as it were

I was fortunate enough to grow up watching him, and oddly enough him going to WCW bugged me more than Hogan going because he did a lot more...he commentated when he couldn't wrestle and was always involved

I agree with Specter. Savage is one of those guys whose name recognition transcends the business. Even many people who have ever watched probably have some idea of who he is.

Thats one thing I've always been impressed with.

Shawn Michaels posted the following on his twitter

"Greatest advice from "Mach"- I was angry & wanted to leave WWE. He said, Don't take urself out of the game. If ur still here there's always a chance. If ur gone, there is no chance. It was then I determined never to leave. Stay in the "game" & there's hope."

Slim Jim release the following statement regarding the passing of Macho Man Randy Savage

"We're saddened by the loss. Randy was a beloved ambassador for the Slim Jim brand for many years and will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this time."

Yep, I definitely agree with Marx. But I think the other guy is going to far to say that because they don't know him, they CAN'T watch. It's sort of funny because it's a hypocritical thing to say. Fans generally think that THEIR era that they watched wrestling is the only one that exists. So while I generally feel the same way, I stop and look at myself.

These kids watching Cena today, will look back in 20 years and say "These kids nowadays don't even know how good it was or a legend like Cena". They'll be the ones with all of their knowledge of past wrestlers. It's like an endless cycle.

There is a WWE PPV on Sunday.....provided of course, we all survive the incoming rapture that is expected to happen tomorrow.

So will we survive this so called "rapture" that may or may not happen tomorrow, so that we can bash the WWE for another awful PPV come Sunday night? I say yes.

Or at least until Smackdown! tonight so that we can see Orton break kayfabe.
