Eh, Gugu deserves a bigger role. Catwoman's still free, so I'm not sweating it.

Right. Now I can throw all my weight behind the Gugu for Catwoman movement.

Didn’t Grace Randolph say Margot Robbie was trying to boost her status by making it so that she’s the only white lead in the film?

I don't recall "white" lead, but she did say she thinks Robbie wants to be the most eye-catching and most prominent star of this vehicle. All eyes on her.

Essentially, less of a team movie and more of a Harley & friends thing like Deadpool.

I mean I already figured this would be more along the lines of Harley & Friends.

Is Harley even a member of BoP in the comics? I honestly don't know. What I do know is displacing Barbara Gordon (a founding member) for Harley is suspect at best.

She said she understands the black miscasting because another blonde would undermine Margot Robbie.

Grace Randolph is a loon who, in my opinion, shouldn't be taken seriously. The reason these actresses were cast was they suit the part; they are good actresses with the right take for how these characters are written for this film. As for Jurnee, in case some were in need of clarification, during her second and last season of Underground (around 2016) she was pregnant with her first child. Any videos or photos of her circa that time period don't reflect her typical appearance. She has a slim, athletic look and is two inches taller than Gugu.

Regarding comments here about light-skinned actresses for black representation, I agree it's an issue. However, I don't think it's a significant one DC/WB have. They cast Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), Anna Diop (Starfire), and Ann Ogbomo (Jayna Zod) in their film and television projects, for instance. And, while I understand that opinions on racebending can vary, as people of color are not a monolith, from what I can tell from reading articles from Geeks of Color and Black Girl Nerds, it's more encouraged than discouraged.

I don't get your argumment:

- Amanda Waller is black and Viola Davis was a great casting choice.
-Starfire is a horrible miscast from a cheap-looking series that received a huge uproar because this.
-Jayna Zod was created for that particular series.

DC keeps showing over and over that they don't know how to work with their IP, mishandling every small screen and big screen iteration (apart from the animated films... and it's not a strong opinion either), since the new-gen of CBM.

Race-bending is a two-way problem, and is growing exponentially. There are thousands of good actors and actresses... Is WB trying to up their public image with these kind of nonsense so we forget the cheap-ass products they have been releasing?

Will read those articles though.

PS: After reading the articles, all I have to say is this: If you want engaging good characters of colour, write good characters and stop being a lazy-ass. This is not a bulwark of racial championship.

Their point is that Hollywood likes to cast light skinned black actors in roles to fill their quota over dark skinned black actors but that is something that DC has not had an issue with.

Anna Diop wasnt miscast, it isnt her fault that they gave her a horrid look or that they aren't making her orange.

No. She may have guest starred but she has never been a true member in the comics.

I don't know enough to know if she was miscast, though I think they could've gotten an actress that fit the role the way I think, but the bigger issue to me is the look and costume.

Sorry, I wasn't talking about a miscast because of her acting skills!

I really did not care about this movie, but these are some hot choices. I guess I have to see where they take it

Did that ever work out for actors ? To campaign for a role ?
Outside of official auditioning and talks, I don't think so. Just a way for actors to get their name in the headlines

I saw some of Jurnee's work in "Underground". She was good. She seems quite youthful and modern. It might be why they chose her for BOP...she seems relatable. I actually recognise her from some TV shows when she was a child actor.

I am curious what they will do with Black Canary's costume. I hope it has all the familiar elements and not be played down too much.

Is this still going to be Rated R?
