The Amazing Spider-Man OMG! Josh Hutcherson's Audition! Must SEE!

yeah...and boy is it a weird face

also i dont believe the acne was fake leroy

Boy am I glad they didn't went with Hutcherson. The only good thing from the video was the fighting choreography.

true, why would it be fake???

Columbia Pictures Corporation or whatever company that's next, likes the nerd stereotype and that he would be one just by giving him fake acne, or just casting somebody with an acne problem. They had apparently thought to bring the "nerd" aspect back for another.

:awesome:

Hutcherson filmed this on his own in a gym somewhere and hired a fight choreographer to help him out so now I'm wondering whether or not Garfield did the same (I'm assuming he didn't since from what I've read Garfield's role in The Social Network is what got him a screen-test) Also, that probably means the acne (I'm assuming it's fake) and the scene in general is something he came up with himself.

The audition itself is decent but I'd honestly rather see a video of the person who actually got the role instead of the one who didn't.

If I there is an Andrew Garfield audition i'll try to be the first to start a new thread.

PS: This audition looked more like a better raimi version than a reboot wouldn't you agree?

2:17, i hate that weird hair thing he has sticking out of the left. Looks like he's wearing one of those kitchen hairnets that holds your hair down.

Acne is definitely fake.

He just doesn't look the part, at all. Simple as that.

I'm glad they went with Garfield. Hutcherson looks too much like a Daniel Radcliffe/ Tobey Macguire fusion ,which is the look I had a feeling they were going for. Though Garfield is a bit too old, I think he's a much better choice.

Agreed.

Agreed. Hutcherson is not Spider-Man thankfully so he won't have to worry about the nerd stereotype bashing anymore, if any, from the comic fans. Two more years until the Spider-Man reboot and I'm hyped, already! Just be patient.

:awesome:

Well that was pretty much nearly shot for shot something Raimi has done already.:D Raimi haters...look who they used for inspiration to shoot. HAHA they even threw in a little Batman club scene move.

Yeah Hutchinson used it, not Sony or Webb.

But Raimi totally sucks so why would anybody use that for inspiration?

Rami totally doesn't suck. It's just his Spider-Man movies besides 2 did.

Apart from the late for class quip at the end, it was alright. But I don't think Hutcherson would have made a great Spider-Man. They went with the right choice. Although it's not entirely fair. This was just a fight scene with a few lines. I'd actually like to see dialogue and how Hutcherson did that, so I can't judge him completely.

Now I want to see Garfield's audition BAD!

Wow, seeing that made me realize how wrong tobey maguire was for the role. This guy would have easily made a better parker. The voice is better, he moves better and he looks more like him. I even like the facial expressions. He had this deceptively stupid look on his face that I've seen on some smart people during intense concentration. Like they're very mentally introverted at the time.
It reminded me of the face I saw on this guy who trained in martial arts. He didn't fight often, and I don't think he enjoyed it but he was good at it. His face would kind of glaze over and spaz up a bit, like he was concentrating only on coordinating his limbs. That's how I imagine parker in a fight, especially soon into getting his powers. Unatural but focused and precise. Exploiting abilities that are foreign to him, like a person playing a videogame. I found his much more believable than Tobey.
I hope Garfield is even better.

P.S. I loved the wire work. It seems like they're approaching the combat and agility from a much better angle than the raimi movies.

I think the choreography is what is impressive about that clip.

the choreography was excellent

hope we get something similar to this in the film

however, that scene was too Spiderman 1 in regards to discovering his powers and stuff. hope that was just for audition purposes

people are aware that Garfields audition didnt look like a 200 million movie right?

I hope that specific scene isn't in the movie. Yeah ...

As an audition tape though, not bad. I could see Hutcherson as Peter/Spidey over Garfield, to be quite honest.

I'm overall "meh" about the reboot altogether though. What's the worst that can happen? If it sucks, I still have the previous movies to enjoy.

Is it me, or was he making the same exact face throughout 3/4 of that video? Anyway, I'm glad we got who we got.

He was! :funny: It was such a doped up looking face too. They were trying WAY too hard for the 'over the top nerd' angle. Blegh!

The acting seemed stiff in general, but that was really what took the cake.

Initially I was going to say I liked the action, but a lot of the cuts don't make any sense with the moves he does, and some of the moves themselves aren't even attacks, one of them was a pretty embarassing to watch ..flaily ..thing. That's really the only way I know how to describe it.

I got a little bit into it though thanks to the epic music and references to some good Raimi scenes, and the wire work was mostly awesome - also it was nice to see some spidery poses weaved in, those looked more natural than Tobey's. So yeah, some smidgen of credit is due, but overall, I'm also relieved this isn't the Spider-man we got.
