The Amazing Spider-Man Josh Hutcherson Leak

its also worth noting that even though this story has appeared in several sources sony haven't oved to debunk it and we all know how trigger happy sony are.

They didn't debunk Jamie Bell as Spidey, either. Did they?

Either way, it's a good bet Josh Hutcherson is Peter Parker.

This gets more interesting with every tidbit of info :)

IMO he has the looks of TSSM-Peter, dark hair, brown eyes... To be honest, I'd like Peter to have blue eyes, but that's only because Tobey has blue eyes. Peter in the comics was always browneyed. Yeah I know... I'm a stickler for details :)

The only thing that gives me a cause for concern is that he has an latin aura surrounding him. Don't get me wrong, I do like latin people, but Peter is not supposed to be latin.

This is hilarious... comic book geeks on internet forums going "Hmmm i'll give this casting a C" or "they could of done better, he is a poor choice"

No... you are not casting directors... you were not there when he auditioned. The fact is, the kid was picked because he gave the best audition in front of the director and casting directors.

Movie directors and casting directors know more about acting and making movies than us. They are the ones in the know.

Going "this is a bad casting choice" when you have absolutely no clue about what is involved and didn't witness the audtion makes you look like an idiot.

He wasn't my first pick either but I think he's definitely the right choice if it's true that his audition was "damn awesome". As Judge Holden said, they know better than us. I have faith in this. I'm not too sure about Lizard being the villain in this movie though. I'd rather save him for 2 or 3, building his character up in the first ones.

If this is true then I have no problem as I like Hutcherson as an actor and it's likely that he had the best auditioned.

I kinda had a feeling that somthing like this would happen after all the back and forth between Anton and Lerman fans. I still would like Anton as Harry though.
I told you all...fan favorites never get picked. From Christian Bale to Tobey Maguire, from The Torch playing Captain America to Heath Ledger as The Joker...very few fanboys has mentioned their names for their roles.

Eh. Well he wasn't my 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or even 4h choice but we'll just have to wait and see. I hope they picked him because he was the best and not because he was the cheapest.

British actors are cheaper than we are, so if money was the case...you know.

I was talking in terms of who's the lesser profile actor who doesn't have leverage to start demanding more money in a sequel .

Sorry guys , but i see Josh when i read Ultimate Spider-Man

Anyone remember Ultimate Spider-Man #82

Well it hasn't even been confirmed he's been picked so it is premature to start talking about him as the next Spiderman . However this is a forum so it's not like we're gonna wait fo ran announcement before we rant about it.

As for the reaction to Hutcherson, the guy wasn't fanboys number one choice so it's not like it's a suprise that they're not all on the bandwagon for him or they think he's not a good choice.

Like with Macguire, Keaton, Downey, Routh etc his performance may be the thing that's gonna win over fans , not just the fact the director picked him or think's that he's good.

And to be blunt , fanboys not liking a casting choice is pretty much tradition .

I see no similarities with Tobey whatsoever,so therefore,I'm not worried about it.

However, I pray to God for Josh's sake he grows a few inches in the coming months,or they cast a love interest who is under 5'4.

I gotta admit, Dakota Fanning is turning hotter these days and she is perfect Gwen material,AND is 5'2. I think Josh and she could work well together.

Fanning used to creep me out in the War of the Worlds days. But she is pretty attractive now.

Me too,lol.

She is way more attractive now days, and she is a great choice for many reasons. A great actress...a Twilight girl, ugh, but still. I see her being the cute and meek Gwen from 616 and TSSM. Or the bad girl from Ultimate, either one,she could pull it off.

From Entertainment Weekly (who were the first ones to report on Marc Webb being in the running - days before "TOLDJA"):

Is Josh Hutcherson the next Spidey?

The rumor that Josh Hutcherson is going to be your next friendly neighborhood Spider-Man has been stirring the Internet into a frenzy. But is the rumor true? Sony Pictures isn’t commenting, but sources seem to indicate that Hutcherson, 17, is the guy for the job. He’s screen-tested for the role, along with a plethora of young up-and-comers, including Jamie Bell and Aaron Johnson. But his name is the one that keeps on coming around.

Hutcherson has been acting for the past decade and is getting noticed for his role opposite Annette Bening and Julianne Moore in the indie film The Kids Are All Right, which opens June 9. He’s also one of the stars in Red Dawn, whenever that film finds its way to the big screen. The Kentucky native is next lined up to reprise his role as Sean Anderson in New Line’s Journey to the Center of the Earth II, though it isn’t clear yet if there is a deal for that movie. Should it go through, Journey, now being directed by Brad Peyton, should begin filming in October. The studio is anticipating a quick shoot, meaning Hutcherson could be ready to go as Spider-Man by the end of 2010 or the beginning of 2011, which is exactly when Sony and director Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer) are planning to begin filming the reboot of the Spider-Man franchise.

We’ll probably know little more about this until Sony makes it official, but stay tuned.

I don't get people worrying about his height. Peter's never been known for his stature.

I believe officially he is 5'10" but also, this new film focuses on highschool, so I see nothing wrong with him being shorter than that.

You're right in that I have not seen him audtion or anything, so maybe he did awesome. However, I can still say based on his established resume' my opinion on him as Spider-Man. Based on that resume', I am not in love with him as Spider-Man, but I at the same time don't hate it. I'll give him a chance, but saying we have no right to an opinion is wrong.

He's just ... just... so ugly!

D:

Now I understand the whole idea of us not knowing wha the casting directors do, but right now, I ain't feeling him. If he's cast, I won't be excited or unhappy. But I'll just say whatever and hope he's good and wait for footage.

Mehhh, if this is true. Not excited. Hopefully the supporting cast is better.
